Hello, I'd like to introduce to you an interest check for a fantasy RP I'm rebooting from another site based on pre-Islamic Arabia, drawing from ancient Islamic, Christian and Zoroastrian religion and mythology.
I have a very long background for this nation, and I will type it up properly if there is interest. The basic setting is as follows:
Long ago, there was said to be a great pantheon of gods, the Djinni, who were born from the sands itself. They were present at the fires of creation; ancient beings who personified the world, and created man. Dhula Raja was a Djinn, but due to his nature as God of Fealty, Obedience and Slavery and he commanded the other Djinn to serve him. They refused, and he went to war with them. Man took the side of Dhula Raja, and with the help of mortal armies the other Djinns were killed or sealed forever beneath the deserts. Dhula Raja rules alone as the god and protector of mankind.
The Faithful of Dhula Raja, his Champions, went out and created an empire for themselves, al-Rayyat. al-Rayyat is the greatest empire the world has ever known, spanning the entire continent. Most of the nation is comprised of deserts, with various Oases making up the cities and population centers. On the will of Dhula Raja, the Empire also is a slaving power. They say that there are ten slaves for every free man in al-Rayyat, kept together by the harsh military forces, the secret police and slave-based economy on which everything operates.
Many slaves, however, refused to worship the God of Slavery like the freemen do. They worship the Djinni of Old, yearning for the day they return and set them free.
That day, it appears, has come.
You are a slave in servitude of Sheikh Yassam, a minor but particularly cruel master. One day, a woman enters the Sheikh's castle. She claims to be Djinn Suhaila, the Goddess of Subversion, Rebellion, Murder and Vengeance. And she has conscripted you and every slave present to form the beginning of a rebellion against the most powerful empire history has ever known.
This RP will be heavily story-based, with themes focusing around moral shades of grey, religion, slavery and rebellion. You'll start the game a slave who is pressed into service by this Suhaila. As you are among the first to serve her in her rebellion to overthrow slavery in the empire, you will quickly rise in the ranks and serve as her close advisers.
Thanks for the interest, a few more and I'll make the OOC. @Dead Cruiser I also said it drew from Islamic religion; the culture and empire itself will mainly draw from historical sources such as the Sasanids.
I'd like to bump just because the website bugged out after I posted this. Some more details around the RP: You'll start as a slave to a minor lord in al-Rayyat to be liberated by the powerful sorceress Suhaila, who claims to be the Djinn Goddess of Rebellion who has returned to overthrow slavery in the empire. Many slaves continue to worship her and the other Djinn, having awaited their second coming for thousands of years. Suhaila certainly has the power of a goddess, but her ruthless nature (She is also the Goddess of Vengeance, after all) leads to you question what you're fighting for.
