Prologue

Many years ago, the Druids foretold a great prophecy. They saw the burning of the Four Nations at the hands of a child born with magic. Upon the wings of Dragons, the child and all his followers would change the fate of the Four Nations as a whole. Fearing the Druid’s prophecy, the three of the four Kings issued a proclamation. Magic was outlawed. Those who practiced magic would be hunted down and eradicated.

The Great Purge began in the First Kingdom, Darrodell. High King Arnidas sent his troops across the lands. Thousands perished. Any family known to practice magic was driven out or slaughtered. Dragons were a main target. The once revered beasts were hunted far and wide, until no more remained. Soon, the other kingdoms followed suit. High King Athretes allied with Arnidas with the Second Kingdom, Marsote after only a few months. Soon, King Leoni of the Third Kingdom of Serdel also joined the Purge.

Only the High Queen of the Fourth Kingdom of Randma, Kaelyn, showed mercy. Refusing to slaughter her own people, she allowed those in her kingdom born with magic to live. Many fled to Randma for safety from the other kingdoms. Queen Kaelyn’s refusal to follow the King's proclamations did not come without cost; however.

War ensued. For twenty long years, Randma was attacked time and time again. If Kaelyn would not submit, then her people would be destroyed. Those who had once found solace with the Queen soon found themselves victims of war. The three Kings marched against Randma, destroying those with magic, and those without it.

In a final battle against the Three Kingdoms, High Queen Kaelyn called to her all the magic she could find within the kingdom. A great barrier was placed around the Capital, Aurora. At the edge of the Four Kingdoms, and with nowhere left to go, the barrier kept the Kings at bay. What had once been a bastion of hope lay in ruins after the Twenty Year War.

Elves were driven to distant shores. Dragons were all but extinct. Magic was forbidden in all the lands. Randma was forgotten, and soon the once proud lands were no more than forbidden wilds. Centuries passed. History became legend, and those who once knew the tales of magic were all but forgotten.-

Synopsis

One hundred years after the Purge turned the kingdom of Randma into nothing more than forbidden wilds, a group of adventurers find themselves on an epic journey. Encountering creatures and people thought long extinct, these brave souls must find the courage to save their people. To do so, they must bring magic back into a world that chased it out.

Our story will begin in Blackwood, the forest that marks the beginning of the Forbidden Wilds and thought to be no more than a dangerous forest that stretches for hundreds of miles. Somehow, your character(s) find themselves in the Blackwood. You may post how your character(s) got there in your opening post, or you might reveal small details throughout the RP as glimpses of your character(s)'s past. It's up to you.

Character Creation

Interested parties may play one of the below races.

You may play up to two characters during this RP.

Each character will be limited to one inherent ability and three acquired abilities. (The exception to this will be the Guardians, whose powers and abilities are pre-set when in dragon form.)

All acquired abilities must be approved before they are useable.

The Dragonlords

(Note: First names and genders of the Dragonlords can be changed depending on player preference. Dragonlords will not know they are such until later in the RP. Each one is a descendant of an Old God, though they are unaware of this as well.)

Dragonlords. They're names have been sung as legends, though now they are known only as myths. These beings were once thought so powerful that one was said to have leveled an entire city. According to myth, only one Dragonlord is born at a time. They are capable of speaking to dragons, and even have some capabilities as dragons. One Dragonlord was once said to possess the ability to create a toxic fog that caused his enemies to fall into a permanent sleep. Little is known about Dragonlords today; however. Most have never even heard of them, as those who once knew of the power of the Dragonlords were slain, and their memories forgotten.

What happens, one wonders, when there is not one Dragonlord, but four? What purpose do the Gods have for so many? The Return of the Dragonlords is nigh, and the world will be forever changed.

Kynna of the Heavens (Female)

Daughter of

Argoth of the Rain (Male)

Son of

Avelle of the Earth (Female)

Daughter of

Cedran of the Shadow (Male)

The son of

Dragonlord Counterparts
(The Guardians)

(Note: First names and genders of the counterparts may be changed due to player preference.)

The counterparts of the Dragonlords are guardians. They are Celestial Dragons sent by the Gods themselves to watch over their children. However, they cannot reveal that the Dragonlords are children of the Gods. Each Guardian corresponds with one of the Dragonlords and has the ability to take on human (or whatever race they choose) form. (Which is preferred when traveling).

[Mikael] Dragneel, the Life Bringer (Male)

Ashada, the Skycryer (Female)

Veshnu, the Earthshaker (Male)

Unamia, the Death Bringer (Female)

Character Sheets

Please be sure to include all of the following information on each character you wish to play.

Name: First, last, nickname (these will be aliases for the guardians. Please include their real name in parentheses)

Age: (Guardians should put how old their human form looks, as well as anyone playing a dragon.)

Race:

Inherent Ability: Please remember you only get one of these dependent on your race.

Acquired Abilities: Please give detailed descriptions of these abilities. i.e: range, what happens when it's used, what the consequences are for using it, ect. Also please keep these relative to your race. i.e: A druid would not be able to summon an elemental.

Remember, Dragonlords and Guardians are the exception to this and may choose abilities related to the element they are born/serve under.

Appearance: Please include a visual reference, though if you would like to include a description, you may do so.

Personality: Are they the quiet type? Easily angered? Shy?

(Optional)History: You may give a brief description or go full out. (Dragonlords please note that how you came to be in Blackwood should be illustrated in some way both in this category and the RP itself.)

Kynna of the Heavens

Name: Kynna Brilene

Age: She appears around the age of 18, though she doesn't know for sure.

Race: Human

Inherent Ability: Toughness.

Acquired Abilities:

Healing: Kynna is able to heal with just a touch of her hand and pure will. Though this leaves her weakened when healing a large or otherwise deadly wound, and she is unable to heal anyone too close to death.

Intuitioni: Kynna has very strong intuition. These will eventually lead up to occasional visions, but the intuition on things is still stronger. This intuition is her driving force, and she's always pulled to where she needs to go. Unfortunately for Kynna, she doesn't yet realize this is an actual gift.

Heaven Song: Arvas has bestowed upon his daughter a very unique gift. Because of her hatred for taking life, Kynna is able to change the mood of those around her. (She will be unaware of this for a while). By playing a flute, she is able to calm the very souls of people and spirits. Although, if a sad tune is played, they become saddened, just as a shrill sound might cause severe pain.

Appearance:

Personality: Kynna is a quiet young woman with a gentle nature about her. Soft-hearted, she cares deeply for those she considers her friends and is willing to risk her life to help them. She can't bare the thought of taking life, and for this reason, she does not kill for her food.

History: Not much is known about Kynna, even to herself. All she knows is that she woke one day in the middle of a field when she was very young. At the age of sixteen, her adoptive father was badly injured by bandits. She healed him. She has been on the run since the discovery of her magic, and has finally entered the Blackwood.

Name: Denryr Cyr (Pronunciation: Den-rear Kur ("Kur" like the "cr" in crystal))

Gender: (You should probably add this) Male

Age: 24

Race: Centaur

Equipment: (You should probably add this too) Clothes, a sack filled with a few days' worth of food, a waterskin, a spear roughly as tall as himself, and a round shield.

Inherent Ability: Swiftness

Acquired Abilities:

Nexus: Being a link between man and beast, Denryr has taught himself to learn from various animals, as well as communicate with them. However, communicating is usually very basic words and terms, and Denryr cannot force the animals to share their knowledge. Currently, he has learned from a hummingbird how to stop on a dime, even while sprinting, and from a group of frogs, how to leap into the air the height of a small tree.

Reserved: To be determined later

Reserved: To be determined later

Appearance:

Personality: Denryr is cautious, suspicious, and is slow to trust. He doesnt easily get along with others, so he's usually alone, which is fine by him. He always doubles and triple checks his plans, being sure to examine every exploitable point in his plan and minimize the risk.

History: Denryr lived in Blackwood most of his life, avoiding the three kingdoms. He served as a messenger for the few remaining elves and druids in the forests. His parents died of an illness when he was young, and Denryr was forced to work by himself. Paranoid of everything, he began taking extra, almost unnecessary precautions with his messages. Thankfully, while his paranoia subsided, his caution became a prominent personality trait with almost everything he does.

Feel free to make a CS when you get the time.

Gender: (You should probably add this)

I didn't add these because they always come out in RP any way. So they really weren't needed. Either way, the application is approved.

Cedran

Name: Cedran Sterban

Age: Appears 23

Race: Demon

Inherent Ability: Demonic Rage

Acquired Abilities: Undead Army: Cedran has the power to communicate with the dead, and therefore can call on the spirits to aid him to battle, assuring them that their souls will be brought to the other side afterwards. Whether he calls forth skeletons, spirits, or the recently dead, Cedran can call forth whatever is in the surrounding area (within about 100 ft give or take). These last until destroyed or when he sends them back, once the battle is over.

Soul Harvest: When an enemy is close to death, or dies, can consume the dying soul and absorb it. This stimulates his healing factor, regains energy, and gives a slight temporary boost to his power.

Cheating death: Cedran has a healing factor, able to shrug off minor wounds shortly. The more Major the wounds, the longer it takes, and he can still be killed. It's just slightly harder, although he's not going to shrug off a hole in the stomach or a lost limb very easily.

Appearance:

Personality: Arrogant, cocky, an asshole. Cedran is all these things, and he's a bit headstrong as well. He's full of pride, always has to be the best, and won't back down from a fight. Being the under dog for the good part of his life, he has taking his losses and refuses to lose at anything else. He likes to work alone if he can, as he is independent and reluctant to rely on others. However, if he has to, he would choose to either lead them or act as equals. Nobody tells him what to do.

History: Cedran doesn't like to talk about his childhood, so that part we can skip for now. For the past few years, Cedran has been simply roaming around, being a vigilante of sorts as he kills wanted individuals from town to town. With his skill in fighting and abilities, he has killed numerous murderers, putting the souls of those slaughtered by the individual to rest. Between the bounty he makes, the souls he helps, and the pure joy of the hunt, it's a pretty sweet deal. He can be seen as a chaotic neutral at best, although he tends to do good things he's out for himself most of the time and will do things any way they have to be (even if it's morally questionable).

Cedran was on his way to another town when a large group of damned souls called out to him, in a place known as Blackwood. Something seemed strange about the place, although he heard it was no more than a dangerous forest. Curious, and since it was on his way, he decided to venture out to Blackwood and investigate a bit. Who knows, maybe it'd be worth the short trip.

There's a few things that should probably be addressed here.

Son of Syn

You should probably wait until Syn is actually taken and discus that with the player. Of course you can always just change it to him not being his son.

Acquired Abilities: Undead Army: Cedran has the power to communicate with the dead, and therefore can call on the spirits to aid him to battle, assuring them that their souls will be brought to the other side afterwards. Whether he calls forth zombies, skeletons, spirits, or the recently dead, Cedran can call forth whatever is in the surrounding area (within about 100 ft give or take). These last until destroyed or when he sends them back, once the battle is over.

I like the limit that it can only be used within 100 feet. The ability itself is okay, except the zombie bit. It's a fantasy, but I'd rather keep zombies out entirely. Maybe lower it to just skeletons and spirits? Or the recently dead.

Soul Harvest: Cedran can rip the soul from another living being and devour it, killing them and growing more powerful from devouring the soul. Cedran has to touch the living being to steal the soul, and usually requires a bit of effort. The tougher the creature or person, the harder it is to do and he may have to weaken them before being able to rip the soul from their body.

This one's a little OP'd all the way around. Ripping the soul from a living being would be hard enough to do without the power of the Gods on your side, so I'd think the person would need to be near death before he could even do that even if he is a demon.

Gaining power, I can live with, so long as it's not a lot of power. I could go with it being a way he can replenish his energy, though. Like if he got in a fight and killed someone he could eat their soul to heal his wounds or something so long as he wasn't mortally injured.

Cheating death: Cedran has a healing factor, able to shrug off minor wounds shortly. The more Major the wounds, the longer it takes, and he can still be killed. It's just a lot harder than your average demon, as you can put a hole in his chest and he'll simply laugh it off as it begins to close. He's used to the pain.

"able to shrug off minor wounds shortly", I can live with.

My issue with this one is laughing off a hole in his chest.

Right now he seems harder to kill than one of the Guardians as just a regular demon. So maybe tone it down a bit.

@Aerith of Brae Oh I probably should have made it more obvious that it was a joke. Nobody laughs off a hole in the stomach, usually (unless you're Deadpool). I phrased that poorly, let me rewrite it.

But I'll uh rewrite the rest too, obviously. I think there's a bit more holes in my CS than I thought. Sorry!

Also, I must have misread, but you want somebody to take the character of Syn? I had originally thought they were just... Well NPC I supposed. I could easily just take it off if you wish, just make a normal type of character.

So hopefully I fix the holes in my CS then

Thanks for that, and no worries. Although I didn't get the joke about the whole. I actually thought that was serious lol. And yes, the Dragonlords are actually there as roles that need to be played, as well as the Guardians that are listed. Now... If you wanted to take up the spot of Syn, that would be fine too so long as the other fixes were in place.

@Aerith of Brae okay I fixed the character, I hope that it fills what needed to be fixed. Also I'm a complete dummy... I thought Syn was the God of the Abyss. I was trying to BE Syn (just, with a different name). Hence, the abilities I gave him were similar to what you put out for him. I was trying to be the Dragonlord. So my terrible jokes were unclear as well as that because I done goofed the names.

Yes, I would like to take up the spot of the Death Dragonlord, I'm sorry for the confusion. But yes I have to get off to, mostly because it's midnight and I need sleep. But thank you for accepting and being patient with my being a dummy on that whole thing. I'll try not to have those kinds of things happen. Often.

Lol, you should be fine. After all. You're playing as his guardian. Having a similar power or even one that mirrors his only speaks to the bonds that might form. When you're from the same God, it makes sense. So both of you having the same ability shouldn't really be an issue.
