Say you're a huge fan of NRPs. Well, where on Earth can you find a good one? I'm looking and looking and looking and every one I manage to find just doesn't quite cut the cake.

Solution: The addition of a genre-specific classification system for interest checks, and a like/dislike system to let the community know what you recommend or like from that genre. This way, it'd be easier to find a good NRP, a good historic RP, or even a good sci-fi RP without having to spend all your time digging through the contents of the site. Now, I know this isn't all advantages. Here are the advantages/disadvantages that I see at the moment.

Advantages:
-Easier to find a good RP.
-Easier to get great RPs going with new members.
-RPs last a bit longer because people would be joining a more dedicated group with members, since others who share the same love for the same topic would be involved.
-It would be much easier to learn what sorts of things people like in a certain genre of role play, as well as what they don't like.
-Threads that just don't belong for whatever reason could and would get downvoted, meaning the community can help sort out bad threads and make it easier for the Mods & Admins to deal with them.
-Friendly competition.

Fixable disadvantage:
-Some may prefer to use the current system... which would be fine if a system that gave people the option to sort by the Date Created/Time-Most-Recently-Updated (current system) or Most Popular was implemented as well.

Disadvantages:
-People may take things the wrong way and react negatively to a disliked interest check, when it should really just be taken as a learning experience.
-Unfriendly competition.

How many forums do you need? How many genres are you going to cater to? Is there a separate forum for Twilight, a separate forum for True Blood, or do we group them together under Vampire? What about fantasy genres that include vampires, where do you put those? But if you group all of them under Fantasy, what happens when you have a separate forum for NRPs, but a fantasy NRP? Does it go in the Fantasy forum or NRP forum?

Too much headache. This will be alleviated by the Tag system when it's implemented. Until then, patience and Google Search (use "site:roleplayerguild.com" to narrow down your searches) are just fine.

There would be categories for mixed genres and a Misc. category.

It just sounds like a good idea. Not necessarily a top priority. Not even close, really. It's just something I had in mind that I think would be a good thing to have after the Guild is restored to its former glory.

Yeah, a tagging system is a planned feature.

Ideally, there would be a view where you see all roleplays or interest checks in one big list. Then you can simply narrow it down based on filters.

Also, usually I'm ambivalent about adding Yet Another Roleplay Subforum, but it seems "NRP" is a pretty popular genre that warrants its own subforum since it's otherwise so hard to find other NRPers. It's also pretty specific much like the kind of RP you find in Arena vs 1x1 vs Tabletop.

I'll consider adding a subforum for now.

Once I figure out how I want to handle custom tabs, it'll make NRPs particularly easier to organize.

One thing, though: NRPs are multiple-player, and hence player level comes into play. I personally would have preferred it the free/casual/advanced sections got sub-divided, rather than there being a number of "all-levels" sections which drown the longer and slower posters out. It has bothered me with arena, and it bothers me with the NRP section...
