CLAN HISTORY

The Shimura Clan is one of the oldest clans in Konoha, though it still largely plays second banana to the ruling clans such as the Uchiha, Senju, Hyuga, and Sarutobi. For most members of the clan this doesn’t inherently bother them as they find themselves more suited to doing the footwork behind the scenes of council politics— a fact that was much appreciated most recently during the war. However, their utility in the war came at great costs as they found themselves losing a great number of their clan members throughout a number of battles, operations, and incidents.

In the times since, the clan is still recovering from its significant losses. Some of the more talented members that survived such as Irasaki find themselves in a very precarious situation as they want to support the aggressive ideologies that have been suggested by the Uchiha and Hyuga clan elders yet doubt their ability to significantly contribute to a new war this soon after the old one had ended.

Uchiha Chiaki: TBD

Namikaze Ayano: Ayano is Irasaki’s only remaining friend, though he still suspects her as a militant shinobi who has her own agenda. Despite his presumptions about her, he knows Ayano was his best friend’s lover and had the world ended how it was expected she would’ve been Tetsuya’s wife. Since the end of the war the two have done a handful of ANBU operations, though they speak little outside of what is necessary for the success of their mission.

Lee Tetsuya: During his time, Tetsuya was Irasaki’s closest friend and the one who kept him from getting too depressed or paranoid about the conflict they found themselves in. Had Tetsuya not died during the war, it is likely that he would’ve continued to be the light to Irasaki’s shadow— and certainly reminded him what the Will of Fire meant to Konohagakure and the shinobi who swore fealty to what it stood for. Irasaki remembers Shirogane’s death vividly and obsesses over it; rarely forgetting the person that was. Irasaki concludes it was Shirogane’s ideals that caused his death and that his optimistic hope was the crux of his failure as a shinobi.

Due to her utilization of the transformation technique, Chiaki appears much like she did as a young jonin at fourteen years old; a factor that is representative of her lack of self-confidence in her own appearance. However, even if she didn’t rely on such techniques Chiaki would appear pretty much the same height as she has not grown very much taller since her youth; a fact that she is very much aware of and has been for the entirety of her life as she has survived relentless mocking by contemporaries and friends like Iburi Satoshi and Sarutobi Atsuo throughout her time as a shinobi. In short, Chiaki stands at a unimpressive four foot ten.

Beyond her height, Chiaki looks uniquely like the daughter of her clan with dark blue-black hair and eyes that have long since been replaced by the appearance of her clan’s trademark pupils— the Sharingan. As a shinobi that hasn’t seen field service in over a decade, Chiaki takes upon a practical yet formal appearance as the death of her father has led to her promotion as the Uchiha Clan’s clan elder. She often travels with a hanbo in hand with a stoic expression that rarely inspires comfort. Her aforementioned hair is often strewn in a formal ponytail.

The recent history of the Uchiha Clan has been a dynamic combination of loss and success. Following the prosperous reign of Uchiha Kazunari as the preceding Hokage, the clan ushered in a time of opulence and good fortune despite the conclusion of a bloody conflict between various nations and shinobi villages that had lasted for several generations. Following Kazunari’s death at the age of seventy-three years old it is with his daughter, Uchiha Chiaki, that takes the reins of the future of the clan— a future that the normally cynical clan is looking forward to with great hopefulness and optimism. But Chiaki is more than well aware that the future is rarely kind to the Uchiha Clan as she is more than mindful of given actions in recent weeks that have seemed to target her clan directly. The majority of the clan is ignorant to the malicious events behind the scenes and Chiaki intends to keep it that way unless she deems it necessary.

Kohaku Miyuki: Madarame’s Jonin-Sensei, and during her lifetime one of the principal medical-nin of Konohagakure. She perished in one of the last battles of the war, trying to protect her former students from an unseen threat that proved too powerful for them to handle. Madarame had a positive relationship with Miyuki as a sensei and as a friend— a fact that Narumi often joked relentlessly that he had a moronic crush on their mentor so much that he wanted to emulate her skills just to get noticed. Her death made Madarame rethink what it is to be a medical-nin and to do what he could to protect his village.

Uchiha Narumi: Recently was assassinated while traveling the countryside in the Land of Fire with her son, Tensai. Narumi was a childhood friend of Madarame’s and preceding her murder was the only other surviving member of their genin team following the war. Madarame is still reflecting on her death and who could’ve done such a thing and why.

Kurama Tomokazu: Killed twelve years ago during the tail end of the last war. Tomokazu was ideally Madarame’s closest friend and the blow was dealt relatively hard for both Narumi and Madarame when they found themselves not only without their sensei but without their comrade. It was a loss that Madarame personally blamed himself for and vowed to never be so impulsive in the heat of a battle where there were two other lives in conjunction of his own.

Kagetsu Kitanai: Childhood friend and long-time rival in the field of medical ninjutsu. Kitanai and Madarame have always had a positive relationship due to the fact Kitanai was fostered by his clan following the disaster that struck Kitanai’s village that left him effectively orphaned. Madarame sees him as his more ambitious and worldly brother. His disappearance has never bothered Madarame particularly, though he does wonder if the absence has been good for him.

Chakra Control: Even in his youth, Madarame was particularly adept at using his chakra wisely and with specific precision; a fact that his family had encouraged him to direct towards a specialization in medical ninjutsu— a suggestion he distinctly ignored. Despite not having great chakra depths or affinities, Madrarame is a dangerous opponent to fight due to the fact he knows how to utilize his chakra intelligently and accuracy.

Wood Release: For Senju who inherited water or earth chakra natures, they can ultimately utilize a unique elemental release known as Wood Release. Known as a unique elemental release that can suppress chakra among other marque features, Wood Release is an elemental release that Madarame has utilized effectively throughout the years on and off the battlefield. Madarame prefers to take a defensive approach with these techniques.

FOCUS & SKILLS

Kenjutsu: Madarame is the premier swordsman in Konohagakure, excelling beyond the preceding generation’s notable kenjutsu specialists. It is said that Madarame is the equal of any samurai, though such acclaim has never been tested on the field of battle. However, Madarame will state that his skill in swordsmanship is simply a product of the era he grew up in and had he not lived through the Shinobi Great War he would not have had the experience required to polish his skills. As a kenjutsu specialist, whilst he recognizes his own skill in the various forms he also happens to believe contemporaries such as Hozuki Chigetsu of Kirigakure could easily best him in a battle relying solely on swordsmanship. How much of this is humility and how much is fact is hard to say.

Ninjutsu: As a member of the Senju Clan, it is no surprise that Madarame has inherited many skills beyond his own individual talent with swordsmanship. In Ninjutsu, Madarame has utilized his clan’s marque affinity in that of Wood Release and various other ninjutsu techniques— in conjunction with his sword or without it Madarame can utilize a variety of techniques in a defensive or offensive fashion.

EQUIPMENT & INVENTORY

Madarame lives by a policy that a shinobi’s tools are his crux and his closest ally to prevent his comrades from harm. Whilst hardly an item expert he keeps his gear steadily equipped with shuriken, kunai, and other supplies such as the typically assigned wakizashi and his weapon of choice— a uchigatana.

I’ve wanted to work out the Supergirl stories I have had in my head for a few years now, but either I’m the unluckiest asshole around or I’ve just had bad timing. Whichever the case may be, I think this could be the best option to start her off without stepping on any of the toes of the prospective Superman player because at the end of the day Kara-El is one of my favorite characters in comic books.

In this version of Supergirl, I’ve looked back at my unfinished concepts from previous roleplays and transplanted them to a world that would probably make an interesting foil to the strong-willed, independent, and pragmatic interpretation of Kara’s character. As the antithesis to the stories I want to tell with Batman, here is a character that represents the direct opposite during a more oppositional time. Not only is there a divide in America with rampant racism, the bigotry extends towards women as much was evident with the rise of the second wave of feminism during this time. With Kara being Kara this provides an interesting dynamic that I hope I won’t interpret poorly.

At the start of the RP in 1968, Kara is still getting her feet wet as a superhero—she’s only worn the cape for a little over a year, and a lot of responsibility is being pushed down on her from the superhero community, the friction with the government, and her civilian responsibilities as well. So essentially this is still a very “green” Supergirl; she doesn’t have the experience her peers have and as a result hasn’t developed very much of a rogues gallery. The stories I’ve yet to write down are very much the opposite of superhero contests and represent more of a teenaged adolescence, so it is by that measure I want to have Kara interact in her school setting with her friends and the mentality of wondering how far she can trust them with the identity she is keeping from them.

Attributes

Archery: First and foremost of Oliver's abilities is his prowess with a bow and arrow. He can use anything from the most simple bows and arrows to complicated composite bows and trick arrows with full efficiency. Archery is like second nature to him, and many have said that his marksmanship is like that of a metahuman’s. He was happy to prove them wrong.

Stealth & Investigation: Oliver has had to be smart and quiet, a fact that was groomed in the field. Upon becoming Green Arrow he has only honed these skills to combat the dirty politics of his city. He can deduce the qualities of herbs, toxins, and chemicals as well as sneak up on a trained assassin.

Inventor: Oliver is a technical genius as evident by the several developments of what the press has called "trick arrows"; with each invention having a useful utility in his warfare on the corruption in his city.

Martial Arts: Receiving training from both Slade Wilson and Rick Flagg, Oliver has become a skilled martial artist. While not as capable as, say, Batman, he has proven on more than one occasion that he is more than able to hold his own.

Peak Human Conditioning: In order to survive on Lian Yu, Oliver had to push his body to the very limit, transforming it into a weapon. Most notable of his enhanced capabilities is his hand-eye coordination, many mistaking him for a metahuman purely due to his reflexes and eyesight.

Acrobatics: A capable acrobat, Oliver often incorporates archery into his maneuvers, pulling off seemingly impossible shots.

Marcus Huxley grew up in one of Crescent City's many suburban midtowns in the metropolitan area. Growing up in the sprawling suburban area had a definite effect on him and he was teased or ignored by his peers depending on their gender. Marcus has been called a geek and loser for the majority of his life and his interest in urban mysteries has always sort of alienated him from others. When high school was over Marcus immediately set his sights on college, quickly quitting his steady job at the local movie theater to set his sights on the big city. With his grades set, Marcus found himself accepted into a Community College and found a second dilemma in his freshmen year: he needed a steady job. After several weeks of looking he came across an antiques shop not too far from the college he went to and decided that it would be a good place to start looking; though Marcus’ gut feeling of wanting to check out the store had been apparent before due to his taste in urban mysteries and the knacks people always seem to forget about.

This is where he began to work for an old welsh man who eventually revealed to him that he had been chosen—chosen as his apprentice. Marcus panicked but ultimately after witnessing the old man’s vigor and power realized he had either gone crazy or all of the tales and legends had been true after all of this time. Confiding in Merlin he ecstatically obeys this apprenticeship and honestly he felt like he could really use the money from working at the store as well. So the birth of Merlin’s Apprentice became so and over the next year he studied without application, until he found himself becoming inspired by crime-fighters. The debut of “The Mage” was as tacky as a name as it was; Michelle Kinney of The Informant had begun to report on the appearances of the superhero. In this time however, everything seemed to go downhill as his own nameless nemesis watched from the shadows as Marcus' relationship with Roxie begins to grow.

Intrinsically believing that everything happens for a reason, Marcus looks at his current hand of responsibilities as an ironic twist of fate for someone who really had no ground to stand on before he effectively became a de facto vigilante. It is due to his experience in high school as a socially awkward dweeb who was relentlessly antagonized by others that he believes that he should go forward in his “new” life to stop others from feeling weak in the shadow of their own fear.

◼ Magic | Marcus Huxley by all accounts should be a normal kid studying the geopolitics of sixteenth century Europe, but unfortunately he’s been gifted with knowledge of the arcane stream. Unbeknownst to Marcus he is one of several people in the world with a connection to the stream, a natural connection and it is important for him to take on the responsibilities of the realm of magic. Marcus can create arcane bolts and fields, levitate, absorb and redirect other energy, and even teleport. All of which takes massive focus and strain so he's not going to be nightcrawler or anything. Marcus is by all standings a pretty low level mage and street level hero that could become a lot more given happenstance of his life and how it is changing. His power is varied and scattered over hundreds of applications of the arcane stream and he doesn’t quite understand it.

Merlin: Known by many names throughout history such as Rabbi Judah of Prague and St. Cyprian of Antioch, Merlin is the oldest known sorcerer on the planet. Mastering aspects of the arcane, supernatural, paranormal, and cosmic leaves him as the most powerful magic user on the planet though even with the power at his disposal how long this will be so is unknown due to the fragility that has come with his extremely old age. Merlin has taken Marcus under his wing as his “last” apprentice in fear that his last breath will be soon; a death that if he has no successor will endanger the world.

Roxanne “Roxy” O’Hara: Marcus’ closest friend and unbeknownst to him the descendant of Morgan le Fay. Roxanne is attracted to all things occult and during Marcus’ first year as a superhero was caught in the middle of several encounters that put her in harm’s way. She identifies as “welsh pagan” though she is far smarter than her punk rock sensibilities and occultism lets on.

Dr. Jonathan Wake’s motivation lies in correcting “mistakes”—though many people would consider his methods bordering between sociopathic and psychopathic. As a mathematic and obsessive individual detached completely from morality therein bodes many problems. He’s methodological and highly intelligent, but if people knew of his crimes he’d just be another serial murderer that they’d be trying to apprehend. Essentially, Jonathan wants to harm people who he believes are the wrong number in an existential equation of which he has been given the utmost urgency to solve.

Often appearing taller than she initially appears, Yoshiba Mizuhana is a spirited young girl who stands at 155 centimeters (around the threshold between 5’0” and 5’1”) with an athletic figure and rather unimpressive “figure” that Yoshiba isn’t entirely thrilled to have pointed out. When not in her designated school uniform (or dream hero attire) Yoshiba is rather plain, as much would not be a surprise since she doesn’t particularly have much for money to waste on frivolous things; as a result she doesn’t have many alternate pairs of clothes. When given the option to have preferences, she likes loose-fitting clothes that allow her to be mobile and isn’t sheepish or prudish in how she’s comes off. If people think her skit is cut a little too short she doesn’t really pay any mind of it, for example.

The daughter of two seafaring heroes who were relatively acclaimed in southernmost Japan, Yoshiba had a long shadow to overcome before she was even old enough to walk. However, Yoshiba’s challenge to overcome would have nothing to do with their accomplishments as heroes but rather something a lot worse. Yoshiba was effectively raised solely by her mother, Kishiko, following the death of her father after he succumbed to his wounds following a fight with his sworn nemesis on the shores of Okinawa. Yoshiba’s childhood thereon would include stories of her father’s valiant deeds and the legacy of his actions as a pro hero. Despite the dangers of her profession, Kishiko never tried to deter Yoshiba’s enthusiastic perception of heroism or by extension, her father—heroism was encouraged and reinforced. However, this would not be the last time the actions of supervillains would influenced Yoshiba’s life.

When Yoshiba was nine years old, supervillains broke into her home in Kagoshima, Japan with the intent of ‘finishing the job’ after her mother had decimated their plan to overtake the region, a grueling plan that had cost them over-a-decade of planning and organization several months prior. Yoshiba doesn’t remember much of details surrounding the battle that leveled her childhood home, but she certainly did not forget what she lost in the aftermath of the battle; her mother died right in front of her as the cloaked villain moved in for the killing blow, and had it not been for the interception of another pro hero, Yoshiba probably would’ve joined her parents in the afterlife right then and there. It would be a thought she would consider a twisted irony after she had been reassigned to an orphanage when the police realized that Yoshiba had no living relatives to speak of and thus no guardianship to fall back on.

It’s been six years since that fateful day and Yoshiba’s drive to become a pro hero has only been reinforced. She intends to show the world that she is ready to be a hero.

Known by the name of prehensile hair, Yoshiba’s quirk is far more versatile and dynamic than it seems. Yoshiba’s hair is an extension of herself, serving much like a nerve would rather than a muscle in that it shares and acts as Yoshiba’s consciousness wills it to. This includes the ability to “harden”, “sharpen”, and “grapple” among other functions—it has been likened to tentacles among other things for just that reason, though Yoshiba’s control of her quirk has been… inconsistent at best due to her constantly changing emotions, desires, and at times, loss of focus. This lack of self-control and inner focus serves as the quirk’s principal weakness, though it is not the sole weakness considering Yoshiba’s hair is still her hair and as such is not invulnerable despite it being far more durable than it has any right being.

Some of Yoshiba’s supplementary talents and abilities include that of being a skilled swimmer and being rather physically conditioned due to the fact that since her mother’s death six years ago she had constantly put her body through hell; this includes her own training but also her tendency to get into schoolyard brawls, to which she used as a sort of outlet for her own emotional misery. Her ability to move around an urban environment, throw a punch, as well as swim is only accented by her quirk.
