Smiter19 Eye in the Dark

All you remember is darkness. You were stabbed, shot, possibly even set on fire, and yet here you are. Standing alone as you see your vanquisher standing before you. Their last words escaping their lips just before you feel the heat and the burning pain of your sustained injury. You can't help but fall to your knees trying to breath. You can't even maintain your balance because the ground you thought was there was nothing but empty darkness. Your mind racing as you began to descend... faster and faster. You choke trying to scream but all that escapes your lips is a puddle of blackened blood and chunks of your insides. The pool of bloody gore starts to fall faster and faster, barely leaving your line of sight.

The black darkness begins to hide it from you when something flashes past your body. It's almost impossible to determine what it was, but they looked far to familiar. You continue to fall and you are now in the headlights of another one of these... giant blobs. Their color was tan even more so than sand and it looks solid.

Here it comes, your mere feet away from it now. Prepare for impact! Your body connects with it and nothing happens, you simply pass through it like a ghost passes through a wall. Confused you begin to look around, only to realize the darkness is now left behind you. These tan blobs become known to you only as clouds. This cloud, however, is something far beyond that of what you've ever seen before in your life. Misshapen and discolored, not to mention that the sky was red. It looked like it was diluted by water, for it wasn't a strong looking sky. Almost like it was decayed or wearing away into nothing.

Your eyes wonder as you've grown used to the never endless falling you've endured for what seemed like centuries. Your eyes stop on something, far off in the distance. A beam of light, the most beautiful thing you've ever seen. The light just happens to be farther then you can tell and well it seems to be behind that huge mountain range.

Mountains? Your eyes follow the tip of the mountains to a dense cloud layered fog. This is it, you've fallen long enough to start seeing mountains. Your trip is close to an end, as your body plunges past the layer of fog. There it is... laying before you. The most disgusting landscape you could have ever imagined. The ground had fissures all throughout the land, and fountains of fire and blood spat out towards the sky. There was some huge metal object that had bloody vines climbing all over it, meaning it had to have been there for a long time. That wasn't even close to being the worst of it. There were screams... terrible screams. The voices screamed inside your head and out. You covered your ears only to begin to scream yourself as the ground grew closer and closer. The last noise you could hear, was your vomit splashing against the ground.

***

As your sense come to, you see the reddened sky. It didn't seem to change much from when you last saw it. You felt like you were paralyzed. It took all your strength to move one of your fingers. You coughed and blood dripped down your chin.

"There's one over here," a voice cries out, not to far from you. The footsteps grew louder and louder until they were right over you. A young girl knelt over you and grabbed your stomach.

"This is gonna hurt," she said quickly ripping her hand up. She squeezed your cheeks as she forced her hand over your mouth, muffling your scream. In her hand, there was something red, and moving. Your sense came to as she told you to remain quiet. Your body shook violently as pain forced its way through every nerve in your body.

"This..." she said pointing to the thing in her hand, "whatever this is..." she threw it over her shoulder and it squished on the hard ground, "kind of paralyzes you. It's always going to be there, just make sure you rip it out before it gets to big. Or else you might need help... or you might not be able to hide your scream." She jumped as a more manly scream echoed to them.

"Uh oh..." she gasped, "it sees me. Just stay here. Close your eyes, pretend to be dead. Do whatever you have to to remain quiet. I'll lure it away, hopefully we'll meet again." The girl gasped again as whatever it was, she was looking at, got closer. She went to run away, and all you could do was squeeze your eyes shut. Whatever it was, that she saw, was big and shook the ground with every step. You trembled violently as it ran past you, it's foot just mere inches away from your head.

The creature yelled in some foreign tongue, as it really sounded like it had a mouthful of water the entire time. Their screams of laughter and calls of terror got farther and farther away before they became nothing. This... this is when you reopened your eyes. Your tried to stand, but before you could, your eyes locked in on something. A person... disemboweled hanging from an upside down cross. His intestines formed a sadistic smile on his face as they sagged hanging onto his chin. His skull was cracked open and his brain dangled only staying put because of his brain stem. His eyes were gouged out and his hands and arms were twisted, with bone sticking from every bloody crevice. You had to vomit, for this was only the work of something far worse than anything anyone could have imagined.

Gunther stood up, wiping blood from his face. He wasn't the most enthused about his current whereabouts. He didn't want to meet the creature that ran past him, he's dealt with chaos before... and this was far worse. He took a step closer to the crucified man and slammed his face in the ground. His legs were almost like jello, but not completely useless to him. He crawled over to the cross and used one of its arms to help himself stand.

"You are one unlucky..." he stopped himself as he saw what looked like a dragon scaling the skies. He dropped to the ground, which had more foliage then one would think, especially for a place like this. The dragon boomed overhead with his destructive black fire. It was soaring away from where Gunther was, but the force of its voice would have thrown him if he still stood.

'This is blasphemy," he said to himself, 'there hasn't been a dragon seen for years. Where am I?' Gunther stood back up, remaining quiet, trying to find the creatures... if he could even see them. There was a heavy mist creeping in on them from the south, north, west, or maybe east? Gunther looked up at the sky and the imitation sun rested highest in the sky. All he had to do was wait for it to set, however, waiting wasn't one of his preferred actions to take.

He did know that he needed to rest. He hadn't felt his body like this in a thousand years. It was going to take some times to get used to.

"Maybe I'm sick? And this is all just a figment of my imagination!" She said trying to be rational. Standing she wobbled around a lot..... The only time shed felt like this was when she was first born. After a few minutes she was able to walk, run, move, ect. Her first thought, 'take cover!' Doing so she went to the nearest thing that could cover her, all of this while she tried not to look at the horrific disfigured per- creature.
