The war against the Reapers is over but its shadows still remain.
A Shattered Galaxy
Three years ago, Commander Jane Shepard of the Alliance Navy ended the Reaper War which threatened to destroy the galaxy by harnessing the power of the Prothean device known as the Crucible dying in the process. The ancient device upon it's activation it released a wave of energy from deep within its complex mechanisms destroying all Synthetic life in the galaxy, reapers included. Almost immediately the effects were felt as the shock waves raced across the galaxy propelled across the mass relay network and damaging many relays in the process. Not to mention the direct consequences of the destruction of many artificial intelligence systems which controlled the flow of important data and sometimes the well beings of entire stations and colonies.
Now with the imminent threat done, the galaxy or what was left of it turned to tend to its dead and heal the wounds which they had received in the conflict. Entire populations had been wiped clean, worlds irreversibly damaged by the heavy fighting that took place upon them and not to mention the economic and structural strain on every party involved. With the immediate threat of death having been pushed aside, the standard bureaucracy and stagnation that had dominated Citadel Space turned back to normal as relief and repair efforts have been slow as the bureaucratic process has taken control one more. Talks of aid and repair often pushed aside in favor arguments of the splits in war debts that respective races within Council Space had to pay to help fund the effort.
Most of what would constitute as the Galaxy's peacekeeping force was thrown at the Reapers and while they were well equipped and well funded, the battle was still a costly one with the cost of manpower and ships being very high leaving even those such as the Humans and Asari little in ways of fleets to even defend their most crucial planets let alone police entire systems. Because of this many colonies have been left to fend for themselves. Many of these colonies have been subsequently plagued by bandits, pirates, raiders and the such some former soldiers and others just ill begotten crooks trying to take what they can from the poor and unfortunate to keep themselves nice and happy. This of course not to mention other threats such as pocket remnants of Cerberus agents that had survived the destruction of their base and the death of their leader.
Out further beyond the reaches of Citadel Space, the Terminus System is in the midst of a civil war in all but name as Aria T'Loak pledged her fleets to help beat back the Reapers after Shepard helped her retake Omega. Many of Aria's men were killed in the resulting battles against the Reapers and sensing her now weakened position many have tried to seize Omega from her and take the de facto capital of the Terminus for themselves. Though T'Loak and her supporters have manged to maintain their hold on the station for now despite many losses.
As most of their manpower is currently being used in the rebuilding and reconstruction process, to deal with many of these problems in the outer colonies and beyond the Council has taken to higher out mercenary groups and private contractors on their behalf to go and root out many of the problems that have been popping up in the galaxy. As official representatives of the Council their job is to keep the peace in anyway they can and with as minimal death and destruction as possible situation permitting of course.

Unlikely Heroes
The Story of Mass Effect: Reconstruction follows the trials and tribulations of one such group of mercs and their ship an old Turian cruiser by the name of the Indomitable. The Indomitable follows the command of a strange Quarian Captain who apparently left on their Pilgrimage some time ago and never returned to the Migrant Fleet instead taking up the mantle of a mercenary after inheriting the Indomitable from a friend. The crew itself is peculiar as well, a mishmash of many different races from a variety of backgrounds as it seemed the Indomitable took all kinds into its ranks. Some were veterans of the war, some were seasoned mercs and other still were fresh blood wanting to see the galaxy even if it wasn't the most pretty place at the moment.
At the start of the RP the Indomitable is docked at the mostly repaired Citadel back from yet another mission, having dealt with Krogan raiders that had breached their way outside of the Krogan DMZ. Shortly into the roleplay though they will be hired out by the Vol Protectorate, to go deal with Pirates attacking their cargo ships. A matter which would usually be resolved by the Turian Hierarchy but due to the War, the Turians have more pressing matters to attend to do such as dealing with the pirates attacking their own colonies. What folows afterward is a tale that spans the galaxy and puts the fate of everything those who fought and died in the Reaper War for in jeopardy. Winning a war was the easy part, making sure everything didn't go to shit afterwards was going to prove a lot harder.

Hello all and let me be the first to welcome you to Mass Effect: Reconstruction, the story of the Galaxy trying to rebuild itself after the Reaper War. The idea is a simple one as everyone knows that rebuilding that occur after War can sometimes be as hard as the war which was fought. See for example in our own history such as the aftermath of the US Civil War, The First World War, The Second World War or even the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan all of which ended up causing many problems down the road in the future that had to be dealt with even after the war was over. The cynical bastard that I'm decided that while at the end of Mass Effect everybody was all gung ho about helping on another and fighting the big baddies it only takes a glance at our own history to determine that soon enough things would return back to the angry status ineffective politicians and corruption.
Set upon this lovely background are the adventures of the crew of the Indomitable, our very own group of rag tag misfits that somehow end up saving the day over and over again. Much like the game series it is based upon, Reconstruction or at least I hope it to be isn't really anchored down to one thing that much. It's part epic space oprea, part tense political drama, part daring action plot. Their will be moments of great emotional weight and turmoil but their will also be moments of reprieve and happiness as a focus upon Slice of life day to day moments of the crew members also exists.
