The Fields of Justice

The Fields of Justice is the arena in which the champions of the League of Legends battle against one another in order to achieve victory. As a direct response to the world’s physical and political deterioration, Valoran’s key magicians along with powerful summoners decided that in order for conflicts to be resolved in a controlled and systemic way that they need to be consolidated in an area or special dimension where the warring nations could unleash the strength of their country’s greatest champions. They formed the League of Legends whose purpose is to oversee the orderly resolution of political conflict in Valoran. Housed in the Institute of War, the League is given authority by Valoran’s political entities to govern the outcomes of the conflicts.

They created specially prepared arenas located in a remote and strategic location throughout Valoran. Champions leading mindless minions generated by novice summoners would fight to fulfill the objective of the arena they were in. There are five arenas but below will be the only playing fields in which we’ll have matches:

  • Summoner’s Rift – The most commonly used Field of Justice. The Summoner’s Rift is located in a remote forest between Freljord and the Ironspike Mountains. It is one of the few locations in Valoran where magical energy is at its greatest concentration, making it a highly sought-after locale to pursue for magical endeavors. Historically, it was the site of several battles between the Protectorate (Stag Crest) and the Magelord (Owl Crest) summoners, two sides who sought to use the natural magical energy of the area for their personal use. The large amount of concentrated magical energy has mutated the local wildlife: Giant Frogs, Giant Birds, Two-Headed Wolves, Dragons, Sentinels, Bramblebacks, Krugs, and the Baron Nashor. The objective of Summoner’s Rift is simple: destroy the enemy nexus. In order to do this, champions must traverse down one of three different paths (or lanes) in order to attack their enemy at their weakest points. Each lane is defended by magical turrets that can be eliminated in order to gain access to the next turret in that lane. Character Requirements: 5v5 (Teams)

  • Twisted Treeline – The Twisted Treeline is located in the mysterious Shadow Isles. An eternally thick, unnatural fog blankets the islands from the view of outsiders. It is thought that the islands are home to countless forms of undead, though no one seems eager to perform the exploration necessary to find out the truth. The Twisted Treeline is a two lane map where two teams consisting of three champions battle with the ultimate goal to destroy the enemy team’s nexus. There are only two known beasts that haunt these woods: Vilemaw and Crest of Crushing Wrath. Character Requirements: 3v3 (teams)

  • Howling Abyss – The Howling Abyss bridge is located in Freljord, and it acts as a gateway to the Frostguard Citadel. This is the setting for the PVP mode: “All Random All Mid” (ARAM). Character Requirements: 5v5 (Teams)

Battle Rhythm Explained

Champions are summoned to the Fields of Justice at random. A champion may see him or herself going two or more times, but the matches won’t happen on too frequent a basis so as to tire writers out. They will be paced. The type of map to be used is also selected at random, and when the map is first presented, a GM will provide an in-depth explanation of how the battle is supposed to go, the shopkeeper NPCs, the monsters and the buffs they grant, etc. So if you feel that this page was lacking in information, there’s a reason. Wait until the summoning.

This section is to give an explanation of general gameplay in the Fields of Justice. These rules only apply to this thread and not the Valoran thread. Read these rules carefully but don’t stress over them for when it comes time for matches, you can always refer back to the front, first topic. Also, in order to participate in the Fields of Justice, you must be a part of the League of Legends main game. If you are not, then you cannot participate.

Game Rules

1. Gold: Gold is very, very very important in the League of Legends game. Gold will allow you to buy the gear that you need in order to defeat the enemy team comfortably. Those who collect gold the fastest benefit and depending on which champion can shift the tide of war. Your champion can acquire gold in various ways and below is a detailed explanation how:
  • The Beginning – At the very beginning of each match, characters will notice that their wallets, purses, coin purses have a nice chunk of starter change. For each map:
  • Summoner’s Rift: 500 gold
  • Twisted Treeline: 850 gold
  • Howling Abyss: 1400 gold

  • Posting – Champions automatically acquire 1 gold for every post they make.
  • First Blood – First Blood is awarded to that one champion who manages to exact the very first kill of an enemy champion in a match. The amount of gold awarded to an individual is: 100 gold.
  • Champion Kills – The amount of gold a character can acquire from killing an enemy champion is from 300 to 600 gold, depending on how many champion kills that murdered champion had. The numbers we’re using specifically will be:

  • 1 kill = 300 gold
  • 2 kills = 300 gold
  • 3 kills = 363 gold
  • 4 kills = 399 gold
  • 5 kills = 439 gold
  • 6 kills = 483 gold
  • 7 kills =500 gold
  • 8 kills or more = 600 gold

To further explain, if you kill Taric and Taric has killed 7 champions in that one match, then the reward for killing him is 500 gold. If you manage to chain kill two champions, say, you kill Karma and Zyra, and we know that Karma had 0 champion kills and Zyra had 2 champion kills, then you will get 300 gold. Simple.
  • Assists – If you assist a champion in killing another champion, but you didn’t give the finishing blow, then you will receive an assist. The reward for assisting in a champion kill is 50% x (the gold of the champion killed). Similar to the explanation in the “Champion Kills” section above, the amount of gold depends on the amount of champions that champion that was murdered has slayed. Example: Darius was killed and has 2 champion kills on his current match record. 0.5 x 300 gold = 150 gold awarded for assist.

  • Minion, Monster, and Pet KillsChampions are only allowed to kill up to three minions/monsters per turn. You cannot kill 4, you cannot kill 5, you cannot kill 1,000, you can only kill 3 per turn. So, you need to decide which NPCs you’re going to kill, the minions or the monsters because you can only kill up to three. I will not be going into detail how much monsters cost when killed because that will be explained when it comes time for a match (because it depends on the map). I will tell you how much each minion is worth. 1 minion costs 5 gold. Normally, the cost of the minions would be reliant on game time, but these matches aren’t timed unless they take 3 months to complete. I may give matches a due date to be finished so as to prevent them from being drawn-out and once that due date is reached I will decide on the winner depending on the amount of damage done and the overall amount of kills a team has versus the other team. Pets; some champions have assistants or pets. If you manage to kill the champion’s pet, you will receive 10 gold.
  • Destroying Structures – Unlike the kills I’ve mentioned so far, for every turret that is destroyed the entire team receives either 100 gold or 175 gold. That is only for turrets. The turrets furthest from the enemy champions’ base are worth 100 gold. The turrets at the base guarding the inhibitors and nexus are each worth 175 gold. Champions who destroy an inhibitor or nexus will be given 50 gold, but only those champions who destroy the structures together.
  • Destroying Wards or Traps – Champions can purchase special wards that give them the ability to see hiding champions or the invisible traps of enemy champions. Destroying the ward of an enemy champion grants 15 gold and destroying their trap (ie, Teemo’s mushrooms) grants 15 gold.

  • Favor – These items are very helpful and definitely beneficial in this setting. Favor are items that grant gold and which can heal a champion over a period of time at minimum, scrapes, bruises, and small cuts. If your champion lost an arm, was disemboweled, etc. More than likely they’re going to die and these items won’t do diddly-squat for you. Below are the items, their price, and their affects:
    • Ancient Coin – grants 4 gold per turn, and offers minor healing of scrapes, cuts, and bruises. 350 gold
    • Nomad’s Medallion – grants 6 gold per turn, and offers moderate healing of deep lacerations, gashes, dislocations, and minor fractures. 850 gold
    • Talisman of Ascension – grants 6 gold per turn, and similar description as Nomad’s Medallion. 2,200 gold
    • Eye of the Oasissimilar description as other favors. 2,200 gold

Note: This was just an explanation of the “GOLD SYSTEM,” and is not to be misunderstood to be an explanation of the Gear system. I did not write a description of the gear because that is not the subject of this section.

2. Experience: The highest level a champion can reach in a single match is level 18. However, there are certain abilities that only become accessible depending on the level that character is.
  • Level 1 – You can choose which ability in your champion’s ability list that you wish to unlock first. You can unlock only one ability. Your character’s fifth ability, which is his or her ultimate cannot be unlocked at this time.
  • Level 2 – You can unlock your champion’s second ability. Your character’s ultimate cannot be unlocked at this time.
  • Level 3 – You can unlock your champion’s third ability. Your character’s ultimate cannot be unlocked at this time.
  • Level 4 – You can unlock your champion’s fourth ability. Your character’s ultimate cannot be unlocked at this time.
  • Level 5just a basic level increase.
  • Level 6 – Your character’s ultimate attack can now be unlocked.

The first six levels are your most important, and they come with an experience bar. Level 1’s experience bar is at 10 pts; Level 2 20 pts; Level 3 30 pts; etc. Your character will need to acquire 10 pts in order to reach level 2 and so on. There are several ways your character can acquire experience similar to the gold standard, but not exactly.
  • Word Count – I reward literacy seeing as this is a writing site and if you’re here, then you must like to either write or read. The xp award for word count is as follows:
    • 300 words = 1 experience point
    • 500 words = 2 experience points
    • 1,000 words = 3 experience points

If you happened to submit a post that was 1,800 words, then you simply takes (3 (for 1,000 words) + 2 (for 500+ words) = 5 experience points). It’s a very simple system.
  • Champion Kills – When you slay an enemy champion, your character will acquire 50% of the exp needed to reach the slain champion’s level. So, if you kill a level 1 champion and you’re level 1, you’re going to get 5 xp pts. Level 1 requires you to attain 10 pts in order to reach level 2, and so half of that, is 5. This percentage is increased by 7% if the champion that you slay is of a higher level. Another example, you are level 1 and you deliver the killing blow on Anivia who is level 5. First, look at Anivia’s level. She is level 5, but you get 50% of the exp needed to reach level 6. The experience bar of level 6 is 60 pts. Half of that is 30 pts. Now take the 30 pts and multiply it by 0.07 = 2.1. Now take 30 + 2.1 = 32.10 xp is awarded to you. Worst case scenario, if you don’t want to deal with the math, you can have the GM tell you exactly how much xp you were awarded. Only upon request though.
  • Champion Assists – When you assist another champion in killing an enemy champion then you both equally reap of the xp benefits, which means…one of you has to do the math! Mwuahaha! Just joking, you can ask a GM to do it for you. Only on request!

  • Minions/Proximity to the Death of a Minion – If you and another champion are together and you’re both killing your 3 minions, which means six minions will die. Then you both will reap the benefits of six minions killed because you’re both near them. One minion gives you 2 xp. So if you killed six of them. 6x2 = 12 xp baby! League of Legends is a team game so now you’re seeing the benefits of being a team versus being a loner.
  • MonstersYou can get exp for monsters but different types of monsters give different amounts. When the GM starts up a match, you will see all of this explained in that GM post.

Note: Some champions have passives that grant them or anyone near them or anyone on their team exp bonuses. I will go over xp with those champions/players specifically if we ever have them in the game.

3. No blocking. There is no blocking in the arena, so when you take damage, depending on how much you take depends entirely on the gear you bought. Now, when fighting minions, you can fight those suckers however you like. You can show off your character’s sword skills. BUT! If you engage in combat with another champion, there are a few things that will save you: 1) your gear, 2) your teammates, and 3) your abilities.

4. No Dodging. There is no dodging in the arena. The only way that champions can dodge the attack of another champion is if they have an ability that teleports them or literally allows them to dodge out of the way. Another champion on your team can use an ability to save your character from overextending, being ganged on, etc. But plain and simple, dodging relies on abilities. It’s basically the same as the blocking concept.

5. Warping. Every character has the ability to warp back to home base to buy more gear. However, the only way you can buy more gear is to go back. So if you plan on leaving your buddy, make sure he or she is at least by a turret and do not take too long to return to them. Warping has a 1 turn penalty. The turn penalty will increase depending on how deep into enemy territory your team has advanced but that will be explained in a GM post. It will depend on the type of map the match takes place in. This is to prevent writers from cheating with character transitions. It also makes the RP challenging.

6. Gear. Champions can only equip up to 6 items. Some items require a champion to purchase prerequisite items in order to upgrade to a master item. Your gear determines how long you will survive, how much damage, let’s just say it determines everything! And they’re all different. Here is the master list of all the items your champion could use from the official League of Legends website: click here

When a match begins, every purchase a character makes will be judged and approved by a GM. There are items that have a lot of statistical jargon in their descriptions and the GM(s) will basically narrow it down for you and tell you what the item will do for you in this text role play game. So don’t go running off. Check your items with a GM. A match will not officially begin until all items have been checked by a GM.

Tagging

The tag for the Fields of Justice is different from Valoran, and it is very important to have. There are certain things that must be advertised for everyone’s benefit.

Champion: His or her name.
Affiliation: City-state or Country.
Role: Now, this is where it’s different from Valoran’s tag. Because champion selection is random, you could end up in a team of rangers or mages. A tank is very necessary in most matches. If your champion isn’t normally a tank, then with the right gear you can make them whatever role you want. However, you must state that here so your team will know.
Attributes: The attributes won’t necessarily change. There are champions specifically designed to do one thing and you can’t tell a scorpion not to be a scorpion.
Match Date: The date of the match will allow us to keep track of them all since they’ll all be consolidated into this thread.
Location: You can say your character’s specific location. Which lane? Top, Bottom, Mid?
Tagging: Who are you interacting with directly. Mentioned: What character did you mention in your post? Usually, a character who isn’t present.
Level: What level is your character currently in the match.
Experience: 0/10 (for level 1 increase it by 10 every level)
Gold: How much gold do you have?
Battle Stats
K: (Kills) D: (Deaths) A: (Assists)

Basic Role Play-Related Rules

1. Arena. This is an Arena area. The characters in this thread have been summoned here randomly.
2. Summoning. If your champion is summoned to the Fields of Justice, you can still resume play in the Main Thread as though they had been summoned on another date. However, you must answer the call.
3. Duels. Players may get into duels due to champion rivalry. Champions can choose to duel within the Fields of Justice in a 1 v 1 match or they can choose to duel in their current dimension (Main Thread). Warning: If champions duel and one of them dies in Valoran, then they will die for real. Thus is why the Fields of Justice exist. They are to help keep the peace and they are an alternative form of warfare between nations.
4. Tagging. Use the tag please.
5. OOC. Keep all OOC comments in the OOC thread.
