About my vision and intent:
I am very willing to double as Kirk or Bones if you'd like to play a canon or maybe...maybe an OC. But I am pretty nit-picky with OCs.
As a disclaimer, I resisted the reboot movies for as long as I could and I think I did a decent job up until now. For the past several years I've been getting into TNG and loving it but always assumed the movies rebooting Kirk and his crew, were just all flash and no substance. While I do have some issues, I will say the three movies released thus far, have been entertaining and provide a good reason why I ought to revisit TOS. I already intend to start watching Voyager this summer/fall.
Now that aside, I am looking to keep things within the reboot films because they're a great visual but also because I still lack TOS knowledge. I'm hoping my potential partner is able to help in certain lacking areas but to also understand and accept that I like the contained universe set by the new films and don't want to muddle with it too much.
About my writing:
I like to write. I like to write a lot. But I also have a life and expect my partner to be busy at times. However one or two posts a week would be fine, as long as there is some outside communication to stay in touch/plot. My writing is in third person past tense and I anticipate my partner do the same. In terms of posting size, I tend to give around five paragraphs but if you can give me at least four, I'd be happy. But come on, this is space we're exploring, details are necessary.
About the pair:
I am sure some die-hard TOS fans may not agree with the choice to put Uhura and Spock together but personally, I think they work well together and again that's probably due to me not having seen much of TOS aside from those who cameo in TNG. Now with Spock, he is of course logical and frank but that doesn't mean he can't be romantic and have a relationship (both physical and emotional).
Clearly this will be a long-term endeavor so I want them to develop as companions, not just lovers. I also see the story we tell to be a bit episodic like the tv shows. We have conflicts but they're compact and small and when we're used to the dynamic and each other, we could do something more overarching and expansive.
Below you may find minor spoilers for the films from the first, through Beyond. None of these ideas are concrete but are instead, a starting point so we know which events have/haven't happened. Again, my partner should be able to plot with me and enjoy the fun and development of these characters in this vast universe.
- We start the RP during their time at Starfleet Academy. It was implied Spock was Uhura's teacher at some point and perhaps even a mentor figure. Who doesn't like some teacher/student action? We could do anything from her being his assistant, to her needing help and going to him for outside tutoring. Again, they'd be slightly younger than in the first film but it gives us a chance to develop them early and when we do get to the first film, we slow it down and are able to change things up since our focus is more on Spock and Uhura than the entire crew and its challenges.
- We start the RP in the beginning of Into Darkness but in the wake of Admiral Pike's death, Spock is named Captain of the Enterprise instead of Kirk. My thought process is that Admiral Marcus wants to take Kirk down a notch and ensure his rash actions don't get in the way of his orders to Captain Spock to capture Harrison/Khan and meet him at a designated planet to await a quick trial (a lie of course). Instead of making Kirk his number one, the role goes to Uhura, creating a sense of conflict around the three friends.
I am open for doing something different during Into Darkness, suggestions welcome.
- We start the RP between Into Darkness and Beyond, allowing us to do more things and build up Spock and Uhura's relationship so it doesn't begin to deteriorate at the beginning of Beyond. This may be the ideal place to start for most people, I am sure. But this is also a place we may be able to skip to if needed, so we're not worried about canon events.
- We start the RP in the beginning of Beyond. Instead of Kirk and the crew running off to the nebula, we give Spock and Uhura some time (and the other crew members of course) some leave. They all need some vacation before going back into the vast abyss. The morale needs uplifting and Captain Kirk needs time to collect his thoughts, as does Spock. Upon hearing of Ambassador Spock's death, Spock turns to Uhura for support and they begin to rekindle their relationship. Spock isn't certain if he wishes to leave The Federation or not. Uhura enjoys her job but she is willing to leave if Spock wishes. We could then have Kalara enter, asking for help and we could then change it so that Spock is with Uhura when she and the crew are captured.
- We start the RP at the end of Beyond, with Spock and Uhura reconnecting as a couple. This may be another preferred place for many people to start.

In closing:
I have fun toying with some interactions/events but again, all set-ups are up for discussion as these are just jumping off points. If you'd like me to take on other roles like Bones, Kirk, etc, I am happy to do so, since the cast is pretty large and necessary. Or if you want to share other roles as needed, that works too. I'm hoping I can find a passionate, knowledgeable fan and writer out there. My best friend just moved out of state so I could really use a distraction.
