Kendlen, 8

Monitors beeped softly as they carefully watched an eight-year-old girl. The child's mother sat on the edge of the bed, not wanting to leave her baby, even though visiting hours were coming to a close. A long deep breath left the woman, whose hand gently stroked her daughter's long brown hair. Evaline's child had been born with a mysterious disease that made her daughter cough up blood at random times.
"I'll be back tomorrow okay? I love you." Kissing her daughter's cheek, Evaline stood and reluctantly left, leaving her daughter alone.
As her mother left, Kendlen watched silently with tired blue eyes. The blue eyes Kendlen got from her father, and the brown wavy hair and ivory skin came from Evaline, the eight-year-old's mother. But as Evaline left, the child began to cough, painful wheezing enduing and blood rushing from Kendlen's nose and mouth...

Weston was hungry, starving even. He usually put off feeding as long as possible. Not everyone did but he was also overly cautious. A string of missing people was never good in a town one wishes to dwell in for long. Restraint was a trait much required in most instances. But it had been about a week and Weston was nearly mad with hunger. His favorite place to prowl were hospitals. It may seem counterintuitive, as these bodies were riddled with diseases. The fun thing was, most of them had no effect on Weston as long as they weren't blood related illnesses like luekemia or HIV. They didn't have the same effect on Weston as they did humans but they would make him rather sick for days. He preferred not to deal with the aftermath.

He wore the white jacket he had 'borrowed' from a now unconscious Doctor. The scent of blood carried him to the children's ward where he found a young girl, no older than ten. She was coughing up blood and his eyes honed in on her. She was sick, that much was clear but the scent of her blood was sweet, or maybe he was just that hungry. It was anyone's guess at this point. Weston walked in, pressing his lips into a warm smile as he knelt before the young girl. "Hello sweetheart," he kept his voice soft and calm as he addresses her. "Why don't we clean you up dear?" He hated wasting the blood but he couldn't go licking it off her face. One, that would be terribly strange and aler her to his bad intentions and two, well..the first reason was reason enough for him.
