Background

Since the dawn of humanity, the supernatural have been right beside humans. They caused an uproar in the daily lives of humans, hunting them for food, or charming them to reproduce. They followed the progress of Western Civilization as that was where the majority of humans resided. As humans became more aware they started to fight back against the Supernatural. Hunters went on long crusades to displace and kill Supernatural beings for the protection of humanity. The Supernatural fought back, killing many hunters and innocent in their path. The casualties skyrocketed so high almost two thirds of Europe perished. By 1348, The Hunters and Supernatural in a full out war. At first the Supernatural had the upper hand, but as new advances in science came around, humans built stronger and better weapons. The Supernatural slowly dwindled, and by 1602 they lost the Great War. Supernatural went into hiding. These "Dark Ages" weren't happy. The Supernatural died from starvation and since some creatures couldn't go out into public with out being killed, they couldn't reproduce. Many races went extinct...

By 1800, a new trend in Europe came along. The Circus. Two vampires decided to repent for the horrors they caused upon humanity. They formed a circus were all the performers were supernatural beings. The circus became a safe haven for creatures of supernatural decent. They were well cared for life was good for them as they made a steady profit and were able to buy needed items to survive. Life started to look up for the supernatural

Plot For RP

Supernatural creatures are attempting to make a -mostly- honest living in society, by running a traveling circus in the, 1970's in Europe, using their *talents* to delight and amaze. Several of the monsters have been there for many years, and the circus is the closest they have ever had to a real family. Newcomers are welcomed wherever the circus travels, as long as they have some talent for performance, stagecraft, or construction, and are willing to suppress anymore animalistic nature they may have. The circus is ran by the manager who deals with the more administrative side such as where to go and dealing with practical issues, and the ring master who deals with introducing acts and overseeing training. The two of them act as the 'Mother' and 'Father' to our little misshapen family.

The manager and the ring leader have a strict "no harm will come to humans" policy. If anything of that sort happens, depending on the offense, they will kill the creature or banish them from the circus. Recently, in almost every single town the circus travels to, the death rates and disappearances of humans have increased substantially. The authorities in the human world have no clue why, so they're letting it happen right under their nose. However, the few remaining hunters in Europe have taken notice and are on the case attempting to find the creatures who have come again.

Standard for SOME Creatures Weakness:
Vampire: Weakened in sun, the blood of a dead human paralyzes them. Decapitation or stopping the flow of their blood is the only way to kill them
Werewolf: Silver: A werewolf's only known weakness is their vulnerability to silver, as they can be killed with a silver knife or bullet. Contact with silver will hurt them. Signifcant damage can kill them as well
Decapitation: Can kill them as well.
Shapeshifter: Silver: They can be killed by a silver bullet or silver blade to the heart. Lesser hits will hurt them, possibly driving them away from the fight.
Dogs: Like certain supernatural phenomena, certain animals such as dogs can sense Shapeshifters reguardless of the form they take.

History before circus: Refer to background section as he was one of the creatures who started the circus in 1800. Specifically, anything before the circus Vladimir keeps hidden.
History in circus (Unless just joining): Valdimir when he started the circus provided the requirements of life for every creature who joined. For example, Vladimir went to blood banks and bought or stole blood for vampires. He started to build a franchise and became a very well respected business man in the human world. All the money he made went into improving the Circus and the lives for the performers. The creatures there started to look up to him, and he acted as their father. He made sure that they were all living a happy life. Even today, Vladimir makes it his number one goal to make sure everyone in the circus is happy and all humans are entertained. He also makes sure that no creatures are animalistic and harm humans.
Personality: Chipper and fun-loving, Vladimir is always quick with a joke. This can get him into trouble, however, as he often forgets to filter his words in serious situations. Vladimir is very carefree. He found that attempting to be happy and have no worries is the best way to get through the rough patches in life. He does, however, very unnerved by anything that's out of order.

History before circus: Life for Jean has never been easy. Life had never been easy for As a child, his parents were manipulative. They made him think that humans were the cause for all the problems in their lives. For example, Jean could never talk a form, due to the idea stuck in his parents head that he would be brutally killed by any human if they took one look at him. Anytime he shaped shift he would be beaten and tortured by being cut with a silver knife. The major weakness a Shapeshifter has He was always just floating around invisible to the naked eye. He had no physical identity, which led to major mental illness. He developed schizophrenia, in which the voices told him two things. In order to be free, you have to escape from your parents. Jean forgets everything after the voices in his head told him to escape. He remembers fire and screams and transforming into his current form. He then into a river loosing his memory. Every since then, he wandered Europe trying to remember his life, quest, and everything about himself.
History in circus (Unless just joining): Just joining
Personality: Jean acts very charming and friendly to the majority of the people. Jean is very intelligent, a high achiever, has the acumen necessary for a political career, and he is loyal. However, on the inside Jean is struggling with depression and a morality crisis. Voices in his head told him to do things, which he found immoral and refused to do. The only way to get them to stop was to cause harm to himself. He would then take a silver knife and cut himself. The voices would retreat, but slowly get louder over a 2 month period of time.

Performing appearance (if wanted): He transforms into the person and gives them advice for their future as the can retain their thoughts. They cannot see him transform as the ten he is in during performances are a lot like a confession booth, where they just see the outline of him through a sheet. There are security cameras in the room so he can see what the person looks like when reading their fortune.

Name: Philipp Orlano

Weapons: Standard hunting rifle and silver dagger.
Bio: Philipp has been hunting for approximately 12 years now. He hardly tells anyone the reasons how he started out and he's only told several. The only detail that he ever lets out about it was that it was the day he found out how to kill a vampire. After that, he joined a hunting group with his brother and started his new life. Philipp learned a lot from that group and even created his own sketchbook on the various supernatural they hunted. He had actually enjoyed the new group he had been with for a while, but after an attack from several lycanthropes, Philipp lost his brother and several other friends. The remainder of the group separated, all going their own ways and not wanting to stay together for fear from remembering.
Personality: Random and witty when he's off work. Gets dark and unmerciful when he's hunting.

History before circus: Hammond went on a lovely adventure in his life as soon as he mastered the arts he practiced. From placing petty humans in time traps, making others go mental, and seeing how quickly they could be driven insane, Hammond thought he had it all with his powers. His experience from hunters proved otherwise though. Hunters found out his usual spot he like to stay at and almost killed him, just several inches away from his heart. Hammond barely escaped, and has been trying to find a life without hunters.
History in circus (Unless just joining): Hammond became a way for supernatural who couldn't hide their identities to join the circus. With his spells in Glamour, he quickly became very useful in adding new additions. Hammond joined the circus just a year after it had begun, and decided to stay with it since it was a nice place to protect against hunters. He causes his own pranks several times, but he tries his best to obey the rules, and so far he hasn't killed anyone, which is always great progress!
Personality: Extremely wiry, hyper, and has a really sick sense of humor.

Weakness: Normal vampire powers, and the ones from him blink ability.
Powers: Other than normal vampiric powers, Nixon's able to teleport, or 'blink' as he calls it, up to 10 feet away from himself. He's able to go through walls and people, but using this ability too frequently (more than six times a day) puts a harsh drain on him. If there's any counter-magic going on while he's blinking, Nixon will never return from his blink.

History before circus: Nixon hasn't had the best life out of everyone. Born in the town of Salem several centuries ago, Nixon's led a twisted life after he realized his abilities and potential. After working in a hotel in America for several decades, Nixon abandon the place and went exploring in Europe. There he continued he dark life, starting random disappearances in several towns and making people turn on each other. When he found the circus however Nixon decided to stay there for a bit after hunters almost beheaded him.

Nickname: Firefly. It wasn't Eleana's ideal stage name, but her first choice was too long in human English.
Age (appearance/actual): Appears to be 26. She didn't have a need to remember her true age, so she doesn't know it. When were those pyramids built again?

weakness : Iron, it make her feel weak when she is exposed to it, and her healing slows when she is harmed by it. There is also a special colt rumor to kill phoenixes and other supernatural with only one shot, but Eleana has never seen this colt first hand.
Powers: to harness the fires of the sun and summon it, immortality. She has healing abilities, but a Phoenix can only heal those who they have bonded with. She also has flight, but only in her true form.

Secondary position (Optional): She designs and makes her own costumes. she will lend a hand with others, if they wish to owe her a favor.
History before circus: Eleana has little memory of her early incarnations, but they were memories of bliss and freedom. She didn't care enough to remember much of the humans either. The brief lives of these loud clumsy creatures did not interest Eleana in the slightest. She witnessed these mud creatures rise into stone empires and fall into obscurity before the sun finished her dance across the horizon. Eleana does remember being worshiped by the humans. An golden age when men and women adorn in gold and silk sing songs of her, prayed to her and carved her images in stone. Even the ones who worshiped a single God would stare in awe and admiration if Eleana graced them with her presence. Just as soon as this age began, it changed into something sinister. The songs and praises of Eleana and her kind no longer fell from human lips. Old gods fell away, and the creatures that once worshiped Eleana began to hunt her. Eleana herself went to great lengths to avoid the wars between man and the supernatural. She was also clever while in isolation, avoiding traps and outsmarting hunters armed with iron She eventually retreated to a land the humans would later refereed to as "Africa." The land was too dangerous for those hunters and the humans who did live in this land treated Eleana with respect. Her brother and sisters were not as lucky because by the end of the war, most of her kind had disappeared completely. To this day, Eleana does not know how the humans destroyed the immortal birds so easily, but the thought leaves her with an burning anger that will last longer than the sun herself.
History in circus: It is quite common for a phoenix to life in isolation. In fact, they become very territorial if too many are in the same habitat. Eleana took comfort in this solitary for many centuries. Sadly, those damn mud creatures began to consume the land. They began to explore and colonize, disturbing Eleana's isolation.News of her retaliation against the invaders spread far and wide. A golden red bird with wings of fire that burnt whole colones to the ground. Her actions caught the attention of many creatures and hunters alike. Luckily, before the hunters preyed on Eleana, she was approached by a creature who spoke of a heaven for mystical creatures. A "circus" ran by a child of blood and shadows somewhere in Europe. The year was 1907 when Eleana found the circus of the supernaturals. This circus has been her home since then.
Personality: Eleana is a very vain creature, though she is more proud of her true form than this flesh glamor she is force to wear. She is her happiest when she performs. The admiration and amazement that radiates from the mud creatures reminds Eleana of the days she was worshiped. Off the stage Eleana is resentful toward humans and takes pleasure in humiliating or belittling them. She does not think twice about preying on their emotions for her own amusement. Finally, Eleana is independent and will be quick to anger. She will become petty or even dangerous if she or her territory is threatened. What Eleana believes to be hers can range from a performance space, an object or even a living thing.
Likes/Dislikes: Eleana has a weakness for the arts, especially the music.if you want to win her favor, bring her something she hasn't heard before. While her greatest love is art, her biggest annoyance is being told what to do. No one, not the kings, emperors or even the silly christian pope has any authority over Eleana. If you want Eleana's cooperation, you will do well to not command it.

Other: Eleana has this habit of slipping her human glamor when Vladimir is not watching. She takes pleasure in lighting up the night sky with her brilliant glow and the feeling of the air under her wings is very nostalgic.

small note:
Eleana of course can be "killed" if she is fatally harmed, her body will burst into a explosive fire and she will emerge from her own ashes as a small child/chick. The growth cycle of a phoenix reborn however is only a matter of days.

History before circus: Leander was born from the chilling winds of the arctic as they met the warm winds of the pacific. He traveled the world for many years, taking in the beauty and life that he saw flourishing on land, and finally he grew so curious about these two legged beings that seemed to be the strangest creatures on the planet, that he taught himself to take human form and integrated himself into their culture during the Renaissance period. He met and befriended the famous poet, William Shakespeare, one of the only humans that he ever told about his real identity. Shakespeare used him as a partial inspiration for the play, "A Midsummer Night's Dream". He was completely unaware of the war between the humans and the supernatural creatures until he found himself facing hunters who had heard of his friendship with Shakespeare. While Leander was able to give them the slip, the hunters poisoned Shakespeare with a slow and secret poison that would take a month to kill him. After Shakespeare's death, Leander was overcome with grief and carved the famous epitaph on his tomb before leaving England forever. He then took an active role in the war against the hunters, using his abilities to steal their life breath. However, by that point it was too late and the war was lost soon thereafter. Leander went into hiding, both from the grief of his experiences of death and shame that he had let himself kill so many. He resurfaced in 1888, joining the newly formed Circus and vowing to never again use his abilities to take human life.
History in circus (Unless just joining): Leander was one of the first recruits to the Circus, using his skills in manipulating air currents to cast himself in the role of a wonderfully talented high flying acrobat. He is known for his "death defying" leaps, tricks and tumbles through the air, his skills at the trapeze and high wire, and his staunch refusal to use a safety net. He has also taken a particular shine to Eleana, since she arrived only a few years after himself. He often finds himself in awe of her grace and beauty, though he thinks of her as a good friend and confidant. He enjoys singing for her, since he knows she is a fan of music, and it led him to also become the troupe's primary vocalist.
Personality: He can be a bit mischievous, often playing tricks on other members of the troupe, but they are always in good fun. He is kind and caring, rather likely to help others if he believes he can. He does not let anything bother him(except tight spaces) and has a generally sunny outlook. He has never been seen to be sad or angry, at least not yet. He finds himself at peace with the world, content to live the life he has made for himself without worrying about tomorrow. He does know when to be serious, though even then he tends to be overly optimistic, and even naive. He is not, however, inexperienced in the horrors of humans, and while he is always polite and courteous to the audience, he generally disassociates with humans, preferring the company of other supernatural creatures and beings.
Likes/Dislikes: Leander loves the simple pleasures in life. He likes to entertain others, as well as to be entertained himself. He has a great appreciation for beauty of all kinds and he finds himself feeling sorry for anyone or anything that is not beautiful, which can sometimes earn him the ire of others. He also highly values freedom and independence, refusing to let himself be "stifled" in any way. He is deathly afraid of small spaces, and will refuse to enter them under any circumstances less than a life or death situation. This is because his powers are virtually useless in tight spaces and he feels choked, often even beginning to breathe hard and finally passing out if he spends too much time in small spaces.

So, I just had a thought. How is the circus traveling? Is it by train or caravan? Also, what are the living quarters like for the performers?

By Caravan. They stay 2-3 weeks in each town/city ect... so due to the short time, they're staying in either tents or in a wagon depending on how long they've been with the circus. The nicer wagons belong to the creatures who've been there the longest.

Weakness: Does not deal with any magical force well when used against her, can be killed with one strike from the death scythe or energy can be drained with a sharp blade until she retrieves another soul.
Powers: Can have access to Heaven and Hell, experts and tracking down bad or 'rotten' souls. Can alter the way humans see the Reaper.

History before circus: Alvira has seen any type of death you can imagine, she's was a lonely dark soul who roamed the earth and took other people's lives to save her own. But now with all the deaths in the world, she doesn't need to do the dirty work. Not anymore.
She wasn't always visible to humans, she thought it would only cause unnecessary troubles for her, she would get people begging for their lives which were already drifting away from them. She didn't hate that life, she quite enjoyed it actually. It gave her a taste of all of the different opportunities, all the experiences that people endure in life. Of course, the job didn't give her happiness either, whenever she would take a soul she would have to take the burdens and emotions on too, quite problematic. She was never free and never will be. She understands that. Being a Reaper has it's consequences.

At least she was never hunted down, yes hated by many, but she could never be hunted down. She's like a possession of death, you can't take her to her death if she's already possessed by it. She never tries to go into great detail about it, she gets confused herself but she just goes along with it. She's always been with death, and always will be.
History in circus (Unless just joining): Alvira hasn't been at the circus long enough to brag about but long enough to have earnt a reputation. She never mixed with people unless it's about something worthy of her time and she always practiced numerous acts which gave her great inner peace with herself, until she feels her power draining. Then she'd become isolated and nobody would see her for hours. When she returned she would be reasonably approachable, not that people approach her anyway.
Personality: She has character, whether that's a good thing or not, well, that's for you to decide. She never in a good mood, only a reasonable mood at the rarest of times. But what else can you expect from a reaper? Alvira loves to watch people suffer, she find some kind of amusement out of it but she won't have the fire inside of her to fight anybody, after all, she's pretty much dead inside. But there is some kind of aura that tells people to back off from her,she actually quite likes the isolation. She can feel at some kind of peace.
