Naw, totally different. :D

And they're quite sane, thank you very much. And also highly individualistic. And I mean, they've been around for a good long time. Long enough to rebuilt their homeworld and then expand into the stars.

With the time passed since the extinction event have they returned to being genetically heterogenous or is there a reason for continued genetic homogeny? Also is there any system to enforce having the same personality or are they heterogenous when it comes to personality?

Also your mention of self-destruction does make me think about my own kind and how a species that is known for impulsive and reckless actions (Like deciding to make a oath that bound their whole species to a endless war of retribution against a enemy that nearly wiped their whole kind out. They really thought they'd finish the mission in just 2 centuries and how their cultures have a tendency to worry more about piecing themselves back together instead of not getting horribly killed if not critically injured in the first place) get to space. The answer is simple, they're reckless as all fuck and probably had at least one or two nuclear exchanges before figuring out FTL,

Their idea of retribution the same one that got them tangled up in the mess they are in now is basically eye for an eye. If the enemy only used two nukes, they only use two nukes back and generally things went to the negotiating table afterwards. This was all fine and dandy back than when they didn't have aliens with different ethical systems rummaging about glazing their planets in napalm (The reciprocal mentality isn't innate to their psychology, it's just what the dominant civilization had enforced throughout the world in the Rocket Conquests- imagine the mongollian world conquest, but with ballistic missiles and a 21st century amy plowing through pre-modern societies around the world).

This logic than gets applied to the time they nearly got wiped out. Well shit, now they have to commit some xenocide with maybe a couple million remaining if it seems fair enough by than.

Not to mention I think their smaller size would make spaceships easier for them. That's always helpful.

@MissingAxisWhat did you have in mind?

I'm open for anything. Maybe a Silent Imperium fleet is passing through Ouroboros space passively or aggressively, or an Ouroboros fleet has shunted accidentally into a system occupied by Tikalli colonists. The Ouroboros is in proximity of Dominion space, so that might give you some good reasons to be there or to interact with them.

The silent imperium doesn't have fleets, they work in small strike teams of space craft that can go quite the distance. I could see proxy activity being a reoccurring motif under the pretense of 'keeping follow sapient vigil on the Dominion's machinations' In practice the Ouroburos just get a new reality TV Show since the Dominion has a lot of infighting just like your kind does and that may come off as entertaining to your kind or not, I don't know. I may need a better understanding of their political situation to think how exactly they'd conduct themselves with the Ouroboros. Chances are they'd see you as a potential victim of Dominion activity and work out a defensive pact in secret.

They're still all genetically identical. Not for any particular reason other than the fact that by this point it's just simply the way things are done. Changing up the DNA wouldn't really serve any practical purpose, since that'd already been done in order to screen out any major genetic diseases or genetic predispositions to major illnesses (not that there were too many in the first place; they chose some random secretary because she didn't really have either of those things). So it'd just be effort for nothing. And the thought of creating men and moving away from cloning was shut down, since the cloning works much better than allowing everybody to just have kids.

And they are very heterogeneous in term of personality. Freedom of choice, expression, and individuality is extremely important in their society. The first clones were actually created as experimental test subjects in a biological research lab/bunker until the clones staged an uprising and butchered almost everyone living there. That last bit isn't something they're proud of. But the importance of individuality was impressed upon them from the beginning of their society because of the fact that they'd been treated as expendable, replaceable, faceless test subjects.

I see. I am not sure if the Tikali colony thing exists- the attitudisms about the colony I've expressed earlier still apply. If no diplomatic pact can be made, there may still be spying since that's what the Silent Inperium does. Telling the Silent Inperium not to spy is like trying to ban inflation. It just does not work that way. They'll just see it as a sign their current methods are too obvious and change method.

Be warned with a client colony that the Silent Imperium's recruiting efforts will occur in your sectors for not just the Tikali clients. The Silent Imperium despite the name behaves more like a very powerful organization than a empire.

@REDSHEILDWhy not be a Solarian? They're basically humans but with more time in space (300 years instead of a hundred) and genetic variation. Not to mention Willy's all lonely without alien contact.
Actually we're approaching a thousand. We began exploring other star systems before FTL was invented so there had been times when traveling took almost a century and only the later invention of quantum comms kept them together.
300 years ago was when the Last Great War happened which ironically the result of FTL technology connecting everyone and people realizing how much of an irredeemable assholes the other nations were.
Post-war situation was a mess and honestly wouldn't surprise me if some people just escaped the Rainbow Cluster and formed their own civilization elsewhere.
It's also dangerous because while war-era technology was inferior its abuses were widespread and made the war the horrible experience which is still remembered after 300 years.
So if they don't have the convoluted rules and limitations on technology then @REDSHEILD's faction could be even more dangerous than me.
He can also contact me in PM to discuss the details.

You can perhaps also meet with the Federation. Not sure on the details since Kirk is already elsewhere but we can work it out.

Mostly because your factions seem like an escalation in scale and thus people don't wish to begin with you.
But hey you have two factions that hate each other. Just make them fight for now.

If you want, I can come to you. I'd say you send a ship, but I get the feeling that the feds don't really want to waste the money.

They don't waste their money on scientific charity like exploring a distant star system on the mere hunch of the existence of alien civilizations.

We can say that there's some rare resource out there which worth the money to exploit.
Say, an unique neutron star which generates antimatter like crazy.
And you meet a mining party preparing to exploit this resource.

@Keyguyperson - Should I assume we have contact by this point? If so, what sort of relation exists? An awful one? ambivalent? Embassies?

Too many questions but important ones :p.

@KeyguypersonWhat's your take on meeting with the Federation and get into a dispute over the mining rights like the scenario I told prior?
