Important NPCs:
Name: Professor Lily Apple
Appearance:
Age: 32
Gender: Female
Personality: Relaxed but never slow-witted, Prof. Apple is the sort of person who would rather talk a person through their question until they figure out as opposed to just giving them the direct answer. Unless it involves her research, Apple feels most comfortable when not operating directly, preferring to remain in the lab while others do the direct work instead. She's always willing to help out those who help her, though, and has a particular pride in her being from Unova.
That said, she does have a few social quirks. If she doesn't like a topic, or the conversation is drifting from one she does like, she'll keep pushing it in the direction she'd rather go until the other person just goes with it or stops talking to her. She also won't hesitate to call somebody out on their flaws if asked about them, and won't hold back. Most of all though, she hates, HATES saying the same thing twice in a row. People who don't listen to Professor Apple and make her repeat herself are probably people she won't call "friend" anytime soon.
Brief Bio: Born in Unova Region in the lovely Opelucid City, Lily Apple has long had a fascination with how Pokemon evolve. What precisely causes it? Why do some Pokemon change so much when they evolve but others change so little? With the discovery of Mega Stones a few years ago, how does that even work? There have always been questions to be asked, and Lily wanted the answers.
Deciding to learn from the best, Lily spent some time studying under Professors Juniper and Juniper, exceeding their expectations as the name Professor Apple shot up the lists of Unova's finest Pokemon Professors. By the time she was 22, there was nothing more for Professor Apple to learn in Unova. She began spending a year in each of the different regions, touring through Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh. Until her studies brought her to Kalos Region at age 26, where she met Professor Sycamore. The man was a genius that left Apple baffled. This was what led to her ultimate decision to remain in Lumiose City, studying under Professor Sycamore on all aspects of Pokemon evolution.
For the last two years, she's been working with Professor Sycamore, as well as helping other, newer professors in Lumiose with getting up to speed on what's what. While the final goal of knowing precisely how it all works is still a long way off, Apple likes to take it one step at a time. The current step: "If I can compare the DNA of Pokemon to that of humans, it could go a long way to help figure out how Pokemon evolution works."
Starter Pokemon: Aron
Starter's Personality: Apple's Aron is a tenacious little fellow. Hard-headed and adamant, this little ball of steel is eager to please the Professor and even more eager to follow her every order. Aron enjoys to fight since during battle is when the lil' guy feels closest to Apple, and win or lose, has a good time bashing heads with another Pokemon.

-Theme: Theory of N, WHAT TYPE ARE YOU
Name: Assistant Prof. B
Appearance:
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Personality: B is a rather cordial fellow, if maybe a bit of a klutz and tongue-tied easily. His excuse for the latter is that English is a second language for him which he is still assimilating, so please bear with him. The only things he never falters on are his manners. While he may often be at a loss for words, he is almost never at a loss for an answer and knows all sorts of things. Ask, and he will frequently provide information as best as he can. To him, there's rarely any point to being roundabout. He's quite encouraging, if maybe in a backhanded way (e.g. telling trainers to buy Revives since Arceus knows they'll need 'em sooner or later!).
When not being made to, say, carry glass vials or do public speaking, he's very competent in his own right. His research doesn't entirely align with Apple's, but he tends to prioritize her requests above his own work. By his own admittance, his research is more driven by curiosity than need. He's fascinated by ancient pokemon, with a special fondness for Unown. When not in the lab, he's usually around Geosenge or Camphrier Town.
Brief Bio: B only really showed up about a year ago, working under Professor Apple and rarely, if ever speaking. It was later he began sharing his story - he grew up in a distant region, where homes were made from ruins and the most common pokemon was Golett. His name isn't B, but it's difficult to pronounce and B suits him fine. He came to appreciate the ancient nature of his hometown and even ended up getting his first pokemon - a Y-shaped Unown. He had no interest in becoming a pokemon master, to be sure, but when he found ruins with Unown shapes serving as glyphs, he began taking interest in the nature of ancient pokemon.
He became a researcher in his own right, if a bit of an amateur, of the ruins and the pokemon linked to them. That's the reason for the eyepatch - one set of ruins caved in, and a rock chip cost him his eye. He figured, better to look like a cartoony villain than subject anyone to the scars and infection damage, and so bought the eyepatch. Once he felt there was no more left to learn, he visited both Violet City in Johto, Solaceon Town in Sinnoh, and the Tanoby Chambers in the Sevii Islands to study the Unown populations. After learning about the events Team Flare set off and the knowledge that there had been a functional weapon from ancient times, he went to Kalos. Studying there proved much more difficult without knowledge of English, and he ended up working under Professor Apple.
Starter Pokemon: Unown (Y-letter)
Starter's Personality: Y is always by B's side, refusing a pokeball unless fainted. Even in the lab, Y hovers by his side and alerts B to company. Y doesn't like being touched and tends to float out of reach, occasionally squeaking angrily. Y can be relied on to help out in the lab, catching a vial or two that slips out of B's fingers, and seems to be extremely social and curious, to the point of ignoring personal space, whenever B is busy. If it can be helped, Y isn't allowed to fight.

-Theme: Masafumi Takada, Miss Monomi's Practice Lesson
Name: Lynda Tanner
Appearance: "That's a nice-looking Hydreigon you got there, mind if I take a closer look?"
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Personality: At a glance, Lynda seems like a fairly normal person. A bit flighty and easily distracted, and perhaps more than a little lacking in some social graces, but for the most part she's friendly and laid-back, not really holding grudges or sweating the small stuff.
That much is true, except for the 'normal' part. Whilst she seems capable of functioning socially, Lynda seems very uninterested in other humans unless they happen to be right in front of her, and is much more interested in Pokémon; an aspect of her personality that wouldn't be too unusual in and of itself if not for her seeming disinterest in actually capturing any for herself. Her interest has always seemed to be more in observing Pokémon in their natural habitat, so despite everything, the coming journey will be her first experience with actually owning a Pokémon of her own.
Brief Bio: Exact details about Lynda's early life are somewhat unclear; until she was about fifteen, she was living rough on the streets of Lumiose City, surviving as one of the many children hiding just out of sight in the sprawling metropolis. Prior to that, she had been assumed missing since the age of five, after a house fire claimed the lives of her parents. The details surrounding those circumstances are scarce, but it's known that Mr and Mrs Tanner emigrated from the neighbouring region of Alvion some time after Lynda was born, and that she likely escaped detection for so long due to her fortune in ingratiating herself with the various powerful stray Pokémon living in Lumiose City, as well as the lax policing of Kalos's Capital prior to the incident with Team Flare five years ago.
It was two years after that incident that she was finally found and taken in; caught in the act at last by a certain Professor Apple rather than the Police, she ended up being taken in as a peculiar addition to her lab staff instead of sent off to Social Services. For as long as she'd avoided the authorities, Lynda had learned enough from the other street kids and occasional city folk that she interacted with that she didn't seem to be a lost cause socially; so whilst she didn't exactly become the face of the lab, she worked well enough helping out with the various Pokémon being kept there for research purposes. Recently, after three years of Lynda working under her, Professor Apple offered her the chance to go on her own journey and get out and see the world; which Lynda accepted after some uncharacteristic contemplation.
Starter Pokemon: Totodile
Starter's Personality: For a Pokémon whose species is considered to be quite a handful by even experienced trainers, Totodile seems quite quiet and reserved; whilst he enjoys a good scrap and can have quite the temper when his food or pride are on the line, he generally prefers to keep to himself and keep his jaws clean and in good working order with twigs and sticks he finds lying around. He also generally prefers the company of humans to other Pokémon; the marker of a Pokémon born and raised to be trained by a beginner.
