Hello,

I was wondering if there was much interest in a fantasy/horror dungeon crawler RP, preferentially set in the TES universe. It would feature a small group of adventurers who have assembled to enter a dungeon and dispel whatever seasonal evil has amass there.

Last year, I tried to get a similar RP set in Markarth during a plague off the ground, but it couldn't gain traction. Here is the link to learn more of that:

roleplayerguild.com/topics/87309-the-e..

If that does not intrigue, I was also toying with the idea of setting the RP at sea, in theIlliac Bay, in which the characters maneuverer through a naval blockade to defeat the necrotic sea-summons of a master worm cultist (a cult of necromancer).

Having said all this, I'd love to hear contributions and suggestions from prospective participants, and to use this as a brainstorm. The RP would ideally be short, easy to complete by the time Halloween finally rolls by.

Anyway, I look forward to reading your contributions

I think it is nice for those who are exceedingly well-versed in Tamriel lore but for many on the roleplay site, who are laymen when it comes to these series of games, things like Illiac Bay or worm-cult may be complicated nouns that daunt them.

Those that joined the previous roleplay seemed to be very well-versed in the lore and went on to detailedly describe their characters with said nouns, but this might have also caused a lack in interest (a common occurence is that we end up too invested in character creation that we explored every niche of our characters, after which we find that we have nothing left to explore - interest dwindles quickly right away).

Maybe you could start with a small town? Something more newbie friendly? With the jargons and synonyms used explained briefly, like if you want to start in Markath - explain the architecture of Markath as if your audience knows nothing of it. The stone walls, the ancient remnants of ruins that lay about. The hostile group of crazy deer-hide wearing maniacs trying to shoot travellers at every turn. Like what are nords? What are reachmen? What is this High-Rock which you speak of? Is it a place?

I think that it would be interesting if we played as if the audience knew nothing of Tamriel. That's what I think and I do hpe that this helps a bit to progress this further interest in roleplay.

@potatochipgolem Thank you for your advice :)

I think you'll find, if you read my post history, I'm very capable with imagery, and generally go out of my way to describe settings whilst in character. Saying that, I appreciate that people would like the setting explained to them, and would be happy to provide a detailed set of instructions and explainations if they want to join with no prior knowledge of the setting. I simply assumed that since TES is so popular a series and since the demographic of these forums overlaps with its player base, everyone would be at least vaguely familiar.

Alao, since I don't particularly like certain changes made to TES lore, I will be clarifying in detail aspects about the setting which deviate from current cannon.

Anyway, the long and the short of it is that I am happy to explain the setting, and I agree that our characters should be foreign to the region, to allow us to explain the setting. I hope this is an expression of interest on your part, at any rate.

It is! I'm dealing with an RP right now that seems to be slowing down to a worrying rate and while I am bound to my word to continue on for a little bit until it comes to a complete halt, I think that if it does then I can write in this one (I don't do well dealing with multiple threads at once).

Interest is shown, whether I can join or not is another thing.
