“At some point everything went to shit. It’d be pointless for me to sit here and try to recall all the things my father told me, so I won’t. The sun’s just about to come up and I don’t have time to sit here and hash things out with you; all you need to know is that between political division, environment raping, terrorist attacks, separatist movements and goddamn fanatics, everything went to shit. But luckily enough, some places still stand, monuments of the past to remind us of our flawed nature. So, good ol’ Philly. That’s home I guess. Oh, and not just to me, there are other denizens of this fresh hell too. I mean it’s one of the only places left for good salvage. Sure, some come here with the best of intentions, but they’re outnumbered by the rest of them. As for me, heed my nihilistic nature no mind, you just keep goin’ on your way. Get used to the sound of a silence so still and empty, that when the gunfire and snarls cut through it, and they will, your heart’ll race and your blood’ll pump. Best get to it then, the sun’s coming up."
Welcome, glad you came (or maybe you’re just stopping by). So here we are, us, together. We’re in this together, and even at points against each other.
So here is a regurgitation of what was in the interest check (for those who might just be seeing this):
Faction is a very vague term, and I use it because I really mean it to be vague. Faction in this sense is being used to describe different groups of people (varying in size) who might be trying to survive in a post-society wasteland, more specifically, the former metropolitan area of Philadelphia.
However, unlike other RPs of this nature, I’m not setting a population minimum. What does this mean for you? Your faction could be one person or even two people. Get as personal and intimate with your group as you want, or have a fifty-seven person clan of hungry cannibals. To me it doesn't matter. I want this to be about YOU and YOUR creativity. I will cap factions at 100 individuals (give or take a few), because I don’t want someone to be so big that they try to “win” the game.
On the note of winning, this isn't about winning. This is going to purely be about telling a story and weaving them into an awesome story that will end when it ends (or when it dies >.<). Sure, someone might start to dominate, that’s a natural function of society, but if that happens FIGHT BACK OR ADAPT! It’s a wasteland, there are ways to avoid or take on such individuals without losing your head.
So for those who might say TL;DR, first off, boo you, and secondly here is a short recap of all you need to know, and the rules as I see fit:
- The game is set in the former U.S city of Philadelphia, the city is roughly 142.6 sq miles or 369.3 km², its urban area extends out to maybe 1,799 sq mi or 4,660.5 km2, and I think that is really really (maybe too) big, so without getting technical we’re just going to say former U.S city of Philadelphia and keep it simple.
- There is no nuclear fallout, or anything like that. Society collapsed almost entirely some 60 or 70 years ago. There has been no contact. Just people surviving. It turns out when Anarchy rises, it stays. Bottom line, society failed. Buildings are collapsed, roads and neighborhoods overgrown with flora and fauna. The setting you see is that of a city lifeless and reclaimed. Some sections of the city look as if everyone simply vanished, leaving behind an empty waste, and in other areas, you might see bullet holes and explosion patterns, buildings collapsed as if to tell the story of a defiant struggle. Some areas are more dangerous than others (DO NOT GO TO THE UPPER EAST SIDE OF THE CITY. hehe). And of course people are dangerous, so watch out for each other, they are the biggest threat.
- Factions sizes can vary anywhere from 1 to 100 (throw a decimal out there and see what happens). I have no other rules for Factions, just know that obviously you can’t have ALL the guns or ALL the food. There isn’t much out there, so the more people you got, the harder it’ll be to manage, and you should reflect that in your writing.
- Be nice to each other. Don’t godmod. Respect each other’s writing abilities (we’re all at different levels). And try, TRY to write at least a good two paragraphs a post. More would always be appreciated, but just write as much as you need to in order to create something nice. [and if you read this, put a 'AAA' at the bottom go your CS
Any questions just PM me. Don't be afraid to add a little you to this story, GL;HF
