This RP takes place in the near future, about 50 years from now and starts after rouge Russian scientists created a bio weapon to use against the world in order to control the planet. But during the manufacturing process it got loose, and quickly mutated into a pathological abomination, then infected the entire compound. It quickly spread throughout the globe. Infecting animals, people and plants. Then resulting pandemic killed of about 75% of the human race and caused many plant and animal species to die out.6 months after the breach, the pathogen mutated animals and people into flesh craving maniacs. This starts up about 1 year after the release and the remaining survivors must band together to survive the ruins of earth.

So we're dealing with zombies, or have I misinterpreted the nature of this Russian bio weapon?

What level of technology are we talking about here? What kind of resources do we have access to?

Are there any governments or other organizations, factions that exist, or has society devolved into nomadic groups just trying to not dies?

Is the infection still a direct threat in itself, or is it just the repercussions of it's outbreak a year ago with which we have to cope?

@Camthe infection itself is not a direct threat as the bio weapons effect has dissapatid from the air but you are still vunirable if you enter contaminated water, walk into a bio cloud or get wounded by one of the infected.
We are dealing with the repercussions of the weapon basically.
The weapon is like the movie I AM LEGEND the people aren't acctualy dead just that they have mutated and gone feral.
There are a few major factions, which is why technology continues to advance but a good chunk of the world is rather dead,infected of in tribes...or alone.
And in regards to tech, energy weapons have been developed but are hard to come by. The most comments type of advanced tech would be the symbioarmor that police, as well as the military use. It can absorb most impacts. And damage but it is vulnerable to acid.
In regards to reacorses. The major factions bases are powers by anti matter chambers and fossil fuel has become old news. And nuclear power now runs basically everything as well as solar and geothermal, natural bass is a big componit in this RP it is like money to other tribes. It can be used to power basically and equipment and is still being mined. But it is hard for people outside the factions to get some.

Not sure how I feel about anti-mater based energy only fifty years into the future, but I do like the a heavier emphasis on nuclear power.

If we are going to involve energy weapons, they should be difficult to obtain, as you said. They should also be prototypes, and in general, pieces of crap to try and use and maintain (in my opinion).

Do our characters have any affiliation to any of these factions, or are we own our own? How many of these factions exist? How do they interact with each other?

Also, has anyone else contacted you privately to show interest, or is it just you and me so far?

Yes the energy weapons are prototype s that are mostly just curiosity's right now.
Well there are 5 factions. Listed from suggest and most influential to the newest and least important.
Gilded horizon. The oldest faction by far, has its origins placed long before the weapon hit. Is was origionaly a neo Nazi gang, but converted to a tech driven dinamo after the weapon hit.
Wolves of god. This is the second oldest gang. With its origins also placed before the weapon hit. It was originally the Catholic church of Christ, but converted to an order of crusaders. After the weapon hit.
The Virak hord. This is a relitivly new face In the world. A loosely organised group of bandits that functions closely to the way the HUNS operated their army's.
The Vioshen Blazers. This is a powerful,terrorist style faction that has just recantly come into the big picture. They use treats of nuclear attack, and rarely follow thru with said threats to gain footholds in areas close to the central point.
Razor chicks. A well organized band of female, survivors.they operate as mercenaries all over the known land.
No your character does not have any prior affiliation with the factions, but they can. If you so desire.

Gear: A dark green cloak, binoculars, a hunting knife, and an old bolt action rifle, as well as 2 small boxes of[url][/url] ammo, a full canteen of water, and two cans of beans.

Race: Caucasian(He's also british, he was visiting the country this takes place in)

Backstory: X had been a star student before it hit, excelling in academics, as well as athletics and extracurricular activities. He also had a social life, as well as a girlfriend. When it hit, his family had left him for dead when several of the infected(ferals?) surrounded their home, and broke in. Ironically, his family perished, while he defended himself with the old rifle. He continued on, finding a safe place with several others. The ferals eventually broke in too. He had met a friend there, whom had given him a cloak as a parting gift when he died. He eventually stayed on his own, finding food when it was available, as he is doing currently.

Quirks and Personality: Often loud-mouthed and boasting, many get the wrong impression from X. Inside, he is academically brilliant, and knows how to handle himself. He is secretly a kind boy, no matter what others think. When he's not comfortable, he is silent, as he is when he's trying to scavenge, loot, and kill.
