[OOC] Digimon - The Parallel Visage

For centuries, the Digital World has known nothing but peace. There have been small incidents in the past, handled by humans known as 'digidestined' while the Sovereigns kept peace in their territory and Yggdrasil kept the land alive. Even then, there was no problem so great that the digimon could not call upon a Sovereign or the Royal Knights to keep them safe. Lives were rarely, if ever, actually in danger of being lost, and no damage done could not be fixed with time and energy. Truly, the Digital World was one of prosperity and well-being.

This was all before the Sovereigns vanished, replaced by unusually powerful Megas known only as the Tyrants. They disrupted the land, destroying the balance of their new territories according to their own selfish whims. With the Sovereigns nowhere to be found and unable to answer the calls of the ailing digimon, Yggdrasil sent out what Royal Knights it could to help.

Once they all left, the demonic Necrowisemon attacked the Server Tree, intent on making Yggdrasil's power his own. Worse yet, he had Sovereign cores - he had been the one responsible for making the Sovereigns vanish, a monumental task achieved solely to distract the Royal Knights from his true target. It was only the quick actions of Qilinmon, taking Yggdrasil far away from the Server Tree, that robbed Necrowisemon of his victory. Doing so, however, forced Yggdrasil to sever its connection to the Server Tree and allow the Tyrants to execute their full wrath on the lands they now claimed as their own. The Royal Knights could no longer contact each other or the Server Tree.

Yggdrasil and the Sovereigns are missing.

• First post will be in the Digital World, with your digivices being taken. Digivices are formed from some electronic item that was on your person when you arrived.

  • What happens afterwards will be up to you guys. You can move on, or go pursue the thieves. Moving on will let you move faster, though pursuing the thieves will allow you to meet Necrowisemon.
  • Meeting Necrowisemon for the first time (unless it's late in the rp) will result in a transformation into a digimon - one of the Sovereign's former retainers.

• You can also play 'feral' digimon - digimon not partnered up to the humans. They'll be Rookies or Champions, most likely, and cannot digivolve unless the digivices are returned (Sovereign partners will not need a digivice, though will need time obviously to reach Mega once more).
• Humans, feral digimon, and Sovereigns can also collect items - they can be equipped to a digimon's form to provide a new type of attack, a new weapon, armor, etc. (think something like Tamers' card scanners)
• Regardless of whatever your digimon situation ends up being, beating a Tyrant will require some strategy, especially for the first two.
• I intend to play any encountered Knights, though I am open to characterization suggestions. Don't expect a lot of direct help - their hands are full enough just trying to keep things stable.

Personality: "The Unstoppable Force"

Bart is always a happy-go-lucky force to be reckoned with. He has the audacity to force himself outside of his limit in order to achieve greatness at any cost-- but at a price. Those who cannot bear Bart's beaming energy are often shocked by his electric spirit. While he could be polite and friendly, he may also come out to be cold, assertive and somewhat unwilling to allow himself not come out first-- which had resulted in several reckless approach to situations where brute force may be the lesser of strategy. Strangers might also find Bart to be judgemental and predisposing of others for his own faults. With the courage and will to face what's in front of him, Bart will commit 100% to any given task at hand-- whether it was to wash the dishes or win a tournament.

Brief Bio:

Bart's a teenager who lived with the support of both of his parents feeding him his ambitions. His father channelled his mind with countless of of motivational speeches which had slowly engulfed his mind with strength and will. His poor eyesight was not a limitation to him; it was a sign of greater courage that propelled him forward. Not much could be said about his mother-- whom he viewed as generally restricting and too protective. She wanted to perhaps wrap him up with cotton and cloth and protect him from the dirt he usually is covered with. Due to that mother-nature affecting Bart's views on girls, he has trouble being empathetic towards others.

As a go-getter, Ryan is an externally tough girl who tries to flaunt her age by acting older than she actually is. She is not one to ignore the use of occasional sassy or sarcastic comments as she sees them fit for her own method of controlling a situation, and as a bit of a competitive shrewd, Ryan’s not always the easiest person to have as company. She is, however, a persistent person. A lot of her quirks can be summed up in her having an obvious insecurity towards her femininity — blatantly spoken via her verbal introduction as “Ryan” versus using her actual name “Arianna,” which she is rather embarrassed of people knowing. And, the fact of the matter is Ryan indeed has the ability to be an empathetic person once someone gets passed the rough hostility she likes to uphold for her own sense of control, but her incorrect belief in how adults should act renders her mostly rash and arrogant as opposed to responsible and mature.

Ryan is the second oldest daughter amongst the five daughter ringed circus created and raised by Dan and Patricia Mayez. In a house full of females, Ryan had to learn to stand out in the crowd or at least be tough to not care when she wasn't getting any attention. A quick move to guarantee her father’s admiration and joy was to uphold the tomboy attitude in a predominately pink and plastic doll world, and since the atmosphere between Ryan and her sisters has been quite the competitive one, to this day, Ryan still has her eyes set on proving she is better and more dependable than her older sister, who Ryan sees as more of a homebody that would prefer passively reading her books over actually going outside and enjoying the world first handedly. For this, Ryan is rarely afraid to get her knees muddy and her hands dirty, unless it means killing a cockroach, of course.

Quick to temper like the element he represents, Zhuqiamon tends to adhere to a more quiet nature as he knows the cynderous power that can singe something that gets too close to him. However, he is not always quick to blow out his flames of emotions when fanned the right way. Despite his temperament, Zhuqiaomon delights in the idea of having other creatures as friends even if he is the master at burning bridges. During battle, he theoretically has the ability to be very destructive, but keeping his focus and objective by not letting the petty things get in his way seems to be his biggest dilemma, while continuously holding onto hope despite any burning frustrations is his biggest strength.

Age: 19 Gender: Female

Personality: Rubani is a stubbornly confident girl with an appetite for adventure. She's been travelling the world for the past two years trying her best to understand the world that she hadn't had the chance to learn about when she was a child. She is often easily distracted by almost anything of interest, and can forget her original purpose in an area for hours, or even days at a time.

Brief Bio: Rubani was a child held prisoner from the rest of the world by an abusive father until she was 11, when the police finally caught on to what he was doing. Rubani was sent to live in a foster home, and she was finally introduced to the world. From that point on, she promised herself that she would travel the world and see everything there was to see. Some of her travels include spending a few months in Ireland helping out on a small farm, following a travelling circus for a week in Africa, and even taking part in a renaissance faire in America of all places! The strange atmosphere of the faire made it one of her favorite places to visit.

It was during a sunny afternoon in Spain when she found her way in to the digital world. The running of the bulls was something she had wanted to see ever since she had been told about it ny a Spanish man in the US. She was just heading through the doors of the airport when the portal to the digital world appeared in front of her, and she found herself in the middle of a jungle with no idea where she was and no idea how to get back to where she started.

Well, here are my first two boiz:

Tamer: Dante

Name: Dante Jones-Yasuragi

Appearance:

Age: 13

Gender: Male

Personality:

“I’m only stuttering because it’s cold, thank you very much.”

Dante comes off as a bit spineless. He's quiet, non-confrontational and generally against taking risks; in group situations, he tends to be the person who gets pushed to the back first, which may be why seems to dislike or have difficulty working with other people.

However, attributing this to meekness or cowardice would be a mistake. Though certainly quiet and non-confrontational, Dante is more than capable of standing his emotional ground; owing to a deeply ingrained sense of responsibility and caution, he can be ridiculously unbending and stubborn when put to the test. This side of him is both a strength and a weakness; whilst he's certainly resolute when he chooses a course of action, and patient in the pursuit of a goal, it doesn't help his already-shaky ability in group situations, and usually doesn't do too much to endear him to others. There's also the fact that he's not quite as strong as he'd present himself sometimes, though where that'll leave him remains to be seen.

Despite being quiet and appearing rather cold, it should be noted that Dante isn't actually unfriendly even with his internally stubborn nature. In fact, he can be quite pleasant and level-headed even in tough situations so long as he isn't directly having his buttons pushed. He can be quite the smartass, however; though he's rarely actually malicious about it, he's more than happy to grumble at someone or make an absurd aside if he feels the situation warrants it."

Brief Bio: It'd be remiss to say that Dante's life has been full of tragedy, though it certainly hasn't been an easy one.

He and his twin sister were born to young parents; a young English man and a Japanese international student, only a couple years after their graduation. Despite a decent financial situation and plenty of support from their families, things weren't easy for them; Dante's parents genuinely loved each-other and their children and did all they could to provide, but they themselves had issues to work out that often forced them into a difficult balancing act. As of this, whilst they had the care and resources they needed, he and his sister had to learn to take responsibility for themselves at a fairly young age; helping out with cooking on nights where the family was worn down or short-handed, running extra errands and chores when the need arose, and doing their absolute best to stay out of trouble so that things didn't get any more difficult for them.

Things picked up significantly two years ago, however. After some needling from Dante's aunt and her partner, his parents started seeing someone about their issues; whilst things were still difficult at times, the improved psychological health and a handful of job changes and promotions lead to a significantly less demanding and stressful home environment, even by the time Dante and his sister entered secondary school.

That lead to its own issues, however. Whilst they had a handful of friends from earlier in their life, the move to a bigger environment in secondary school was a difficult one for them; they didn't quite know how to interact with such a large number of class and schoolmates. This lead to some bullying at first- it was hard enough fitting in without the bonus of being mixed-race in a otherwise mostly homogenous environment-but between a handful of growth spurts and more or less retreating into themselves, they managed to make it a survivable environment; just one no less difficult than before.

"I am many things... and your pet is not one of them."

For an ostensibly Divine being, Baihumon seems rather grounded; despite a potentially lethal temper being the stuff of legend in the Digital World, he's rather dignified and polite in person, to the point he could be described as stoic. Whilst he rates his physical and mental abilities highly as you may expect a Deity would, he's hardly a braggart; he seems confident enough in his powerful body and mind that he doesn't feel the need to assert it, and mindful enough of 'mortal' beings that he avoids taunting them.

In his reduced state, however, his personality has taken a rougher turn. Reverted to a frame of mind similar to that of himself as a younger Digimon, and rankling with pain over everything that has happened, his anger is less controlled and more open. He seems rather bitter and doesn't take too well to conversation unless it's to do with restoring order to the Digital World; he takes even worse to being given orders. It would be wrong to say he's completely unbearable, however; elements of his previous personality remain, and whilst he's definitely rough around the edges, he's still not one to start a fight or argument for the sake of it.
