The Multiverse

Calamity struck. Universes began tearing themselves apart due to cosmological strain. No one knows the specifics about why each of the destroyed universes was effected, but some benevolent forces managed to patch the tattered remains together. Because of this tearing and patching, only some of each universe proved capable of surviving the conflict. Will these portions try to figure out the secrets behind the universal tearing? Will they try to find the secrets behind the entities that patched together the Multiverse? Will their inherent differences spark war and conflict? Or will they simply be content to have relatively normal lives?

As a player within the Multiverse, your character’s role is entirely dependent on you! Do you want your character to be a righteous paladin, striking down evil? The evil duchess of a foreign land trying to recruit an army to help her take over the Multiverse? Or will they simply be a traveling storyteller? You can be any of these and more!

This massive project is the third iteration of the popular Multiverse Roleplay and is even more expansive than the last! Virtually any character is accepted, so long as they fit within the small ruleset, and the character events vary from Player versus Player, to Player versus Environment, to simple verbal events! These varied scenarios are separated by location, but can (and will) overlap occasionally. Maybe the duchess’ exploits have reached the ear of the barkeep in a tavern, or maybe a vampire hunt finds its way to a peaceful village. The possibilities are endless!

Like previous versions of the Multiverse, the Multiverse 3.0 is extremely accepting of player creativity, allowing for location submissions, event submissions, and anything is able to be submitted for consideration and possible implementation!
Some basic rules are as follows;

How about the non-combative rules;

Now for the combat rules;

And here's the levels themselves:

Unless by popular demand I'm probably not going to be bringing in Allisan again. I'll see if I can post my characters later on today.

Hello~ Glad to see everyone again. Yet another version of multiverse, and this time it didn't die due to lack of interest. Progress?

Since it's another restart I'll take this opportunity to raise some suggestions: can we not improve upon the world setting? There's very little background to work off. I guess some people might like the freedom but I prefer more context.

The settings are going to be more player based. There will be some more locations that I create, but players are recomended to submit land ideas as well.

While everything was down I had gotten a drawing tablet. My drawing skills on it are this good at the moment and I'll be drawing a lot more and should improve in quality over time. That being said I'll soon start drawing all my characters. Another good Evvie drawing might wait until I finish good drawings of all my other major characters. I might practice with some less detailed sketchy drawings in the meantime.

Woo, lots of still-familiar names. Nice to see that a good few of us didn't disappear with the old site.

But with that said, I don't think I'll be rejoining this iteration, at least not for now. Main reasons being that a lot of points in the thread/plot could be structured better now that it's starting new (whereas I was okay with just rolling with it before), and it won't feel the same with canon characters IMO. Maybe a fork can be made if it turns out enough others are like-minded.

@Nobody- if you have a tablet now, this may be a good time to bring up that comic-RP idea we discussed however many months ago. Any chance you're still game?

I'm planning on having a 4 panel non-canon cartoon series featuring my characters after coming up with a funny...moderately humorous...maybe slightly chuckleworthy situation involving my mad scientist and Evvie and his powers of deduction confusing her despite his observations being painfully obvious. I don't remember your specific comic rp idea. Was it the one where we drew out the battles instead of writing them?

Indeed, there wasn't a specific battle discussed.
Having your own characters interacting in a comic actually sounds great for practice, I might borrow a similar idea as well. Naturally I'll look forward to seeing what you pull off with that duo.

Drawing action poses will be tough. Normally my characters are standing motionless in a blank background. That could be good practice. Evvie's hard to draw, especially in the back, due to her extra appendages.

Well, first order of business is drawing my characters for the character sheets. I can do all that other random drawing stuff after.

I'm doing the same at present, but more for the sake of just having something to draw than for completion.
With that I'll stop spamming this thread now, though no doubt I'll still lurk once in a while.

Well, in regards to canon characters, they are granted no special leeway in any situation, especially rulings on powers. Essentially, the only difference between canon characters and non-canon characters is that one of them is made up by the player and the other took one from someplace else.

Also, what points did you think needed restructuring (I can't fix what I don't know to be broken).

I made Evvie a lot slower then before because she was basically just a speed demon. I added on her solid flame to tier 4 to give her more versatility in exchange, although she still won't know how to strategically use it unless someone's telling her. Otherwise she'll just stick to stuff like flame swords.

One thing to note; my schedule has become hectic lately with two jobs, school (full-time), my short story writings, and my youtube career leaves me with only a couple of hours each evening for RPG. If you wish for combat areas to open up and have an idea for a place to fight in, either drop it here or pm it to me.

Wouldn't it just be easier to throw a flaming rock? 0_o

For her own good is the fact that if any of the individual parts leaves contact with her body it would disappear at the rate of normal flames, so it would turn into a flaming mess rather then go horribly wrong and launch the rock back into her face or something.

I bet if you starred in Peter Pan, you'd ask, "Wouldn't it be easier just to take a helicopter out to Never Land, rather than use this magic pixie dust to give us the power of flight?"

So you'd trust Evvie with the mechanical knowledge to make a working trebuchet? I'd stick with the flaming rock throw plan...

Trust with trebuchet knowledge? No.
Realize that a flaming rock isn't as cool as a trebuchet? Yup.
