Action | Thriller | Crime | Parody | Comedy | Adventure
Drug Content | Sexual Material | Language | Some Violence
In the early eighties, two personality-differing detectives, David Michael Starsky (Ben Stiller) and Kenneth Richard Hutchinson (Owen Wilson), patrol the fictional Californian streets of Bay City, busting drug criminals in Starsky's red-and-white Ford Grand Torino. Flashy, "jive-talking" bar owner Huggy Bear (Snoop Dogg), and sensational hooker Sweet Alice (Isla Fisher), are their confidential informants of the streets' activity, and/or "snitches" of its criminal underworld.
Before their dysfunctional yet inseparable partnership, David Starsky was an impulsive U.S. veteran, and a rowdy 'by-the-book' cop, who recklessly pursued people for minor offenses; laid-back "Hutch" spends his days in sex, alcohol, and low debt, constantly claiming to be "undercover" to rob bookies. Sweet Alice was a survivor of abuse, and a recovering cocaine-addict, who saved Hutch's life from a very possessive old flame, and formed a helping friendship in many of their cases.
After being called to the scene of a murdered drug dealer at a local beach, Starsky and Hutch follow the clues to the white-collared, repeat-offender Reese Feldman (Vince Vaughn), who plans to sell a shipment of cocaine that's untraceable in both scent and taste. After they fail to apprehend him, the duo get more than they bargained for: hitmen with an attempt to take them out; they tried to take a shot at Starsky, and kill Hutch with an intended bomb rigged in his house, but miss their mark.
Before they can make an arrest on Feldman, they get indefinitely suspended, until Hutch discovers that Starsky filed a complaint against him, right after they became partners a few weeks ago, creating a split in their friendship. With a "squeaky-clean" kingpin now roaming free, Alice's expertise in cocaine has allowed her to stubbornly take the case on her own accord. Involving her troubled friend Alisha (Lauren Breckenridge) into the ring of Hutch's toughest case yet, brains, charm, and brawn will need to be used, in order to take down the ultimate bad guy and his thugs in Vegas.
