In Lucha Unlimited: Siege, what begins as just another wrestling event in a small town on the Texas/Mexico border turns into an all out war against an angry druglord and his goons. For the wrestlers it was just another show leading up to a larger event at the end of the month. The small town, Silver City, had seen better days. It was the Lucha Unlimited promotion's first booking for the town and everyone was nervous enough. Silver City wasn't the biggest city around, but had a population of just over twenty-two thousand. Nobody expected that during the night of the event a Mexican drug cartel would emerge from a tunnel under a clothing store in a shopping mall next to the gym arena where the wrestling event was being hosted. What happens when the local police discover what's going on? Silver City itself is taken hostage as the cartel makes a stand and opens fire on the police. With innocent people dying just outside of the arena, the luchadores are reminded in the eyes of many they are heroes. After hiding the forty-five or so children in the audience under the wrestling ring, the adults surround the ring itself barricaded with tables, ladders, and chairs. The luchadores? They're taking the fight outside.
With a town under siege can a group of luchadores really make a difference? And could one of them actually be involved with the cartel?!?
The history of Mexican wrestling dates all the way back to 1863. In 1942, lucha libre would evolve into something much more when a silver masked wrestler, known simply as El Santo (The Saint), first stepped into the ring. The Saint made his debut in Mexico City and won an eight man battle royal. The public became enamored by the mystery of Santo's personality, and he quickly became the most popular luchador in Mexico. El Santo's wrestling career spanned nearly five decades, during which he became a folk hero and a symbol of justice for the common man. Since then, hundreds of wrestlers have honored the tradition of lucha style wrestling wearing masks and inspiring all those who watch them. With high flying aeirial moves, reckless fighting styles, and colorful wardrobes... will you join them?
This RP is a little out of left field since I'm normally a straight up superheroes kinda guy. The RP itself was inspired by my old love of pro wrestling as a kid [and wrestling for seven years in school myself], as well as the super awesome wrestling program Lucha Underground that I'm just now getting into on Netflix. Some things to note about the RP:
* You don't have to know anything about what's going on in the wrestling world right now. This will be an
original universe.
* Being a fan of wrestling isn't required, but it definitely helps. Just like an RP about a football team would be
easier for somebody that's a fan of the game or played themselves.
* Only the beginning of the game is centered around the wrestling event, the rest of the game will be our
luchadores trying to keep the people out of harms way while taking down the cartel one scumbag at a
time over the course of several days.
* Similar to the show Lucha Underground, you don't *have* to be a Mexican guy, or a legacy wrestler in a
larger family of wrestlers. And if you wear a mask, you can get away with mostly anything for a backstory.
On Lucha Underground it's said one guy is from the surrounding neighborhood and another wrestler was
working as a dishwasher eight weeks before the show's premiere.
* This RP is also based in part on the comicbook series Lucha Libre: the Luchadore Five.
Now then, if you've got all that and you're still interested, just let me know here in the iCheck. I'd need 6-7 players including myself to get this one going with at least three or four of us in masks. If enough people show interest I'll work up a Character Sheet model sometime over the weekend and we'll try and get this thing moving sooner than later.
