My dad got me a leather-bound copy of the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. The cover has an illustration of Huck Finn on the river done in gold and the pages have gold leaf in the edges. Not a cheap book by any means :P

My dad[?] has this ancient family bible that's just freaking gorgeous. Which I found off, considering we're not a religious family.

I would hold onto it simply because of what it is, religious or not. Heirlooms. Antiques. Books. Its like, everything that gets me twitchy.

My aunt's boyfriend also has a couple of swords he wants to sell. One's a 54" two-handed blade with a skull and crossbones guard. The bones in the top of the skull (bottom, if you're holding the sword upright) are also daggers :3

He bought some $40 one at a comicon awhile back. Dad's best friend took a look at it [its with my parents since we couldn't ship the blades to Germany with us] and there's a chance its an actual old samurai sword that was smuggled out of Japan during the war and refurbished to hide its value. Could be worth near to 40k, now.
Which hubby and I doubt, actually.

You could take the hilt apart and look at the name written on the blade (of course, it'd destroy the value of the sword). If you translate it and it turns out to be a Masamune or any of his students, it could be worth a lot more than 40k :3

My dad was gonna have it looked at, but it was maybe 3 years back. So, I doubt anything came of it. My dad's a contractor, so he starts a lot of stuff and never finishes them. ;P

Then again, that's pretty accurate. There's this one place near where I live. It used to be an auto shop, but that was torn down about three-ish years ago and the building that's supposed to replace it was started that fall. They've barely done any work since then XD

Though, that's not the contractor's fault, actually. The people that were funding them turned out to be crooked :P

XD its kind of my dad. He does it with household projects a lot. But I never minded. He's such a brilliant and great man that he's needed everywhere.

Sounds like my dad, especially with this one guy. He'll call my dad at all hours of the day, asking him questions about this old truck he got.

My dad also got $700 for taking a snow blower apart :P

And he also electrocuted himself while working on a mobile home because he didn't turn the electricity off. It's not that he forgot or anything, but he's actually good enough that he usually doesn't have to worry about that XP
