Hey guys. I'm going to go ahead and post a new OOC topic and will be accepting new characters. Anyone from the old cast who shows up in the new OOC will automatically be selected in the new RP, which will have the same story premise but a different name. I'll post a link to the new thread here in a bit.

I am still around. I had some troubles and had to make a few trips OCONUS that left me without internet access for about three or four weeks, sorry about that. One of those things that just popped up and eight hours later I was on a flight without phone or computer. Unfortunately that happens sometime in my line of work but I am back and still intend to be a part of this.

On the topic of new people, I do not mind. I understand the apprehension about letting people that did not work the original content in but for all we know they may be able to add new content, they may make new characters that revitalize ours or pull out new aspects of the current characters or story that we had not thought about. LJ was pretty stringent in the initial screening process, I am sure that only good quality characters will be let in this time as well.

As for the new characters, I'm pretty much going to be using the same selection criteria as I did the first time around, so I won't just accept every one person who applies. And as Avery said, as much as we all loved the previous cast, I'm personally pretty excited to see what new ideas people come up with.

Okay, well god knows if Avery and Love and Desert are on board and if Mal the cbaracter is here, I'm in, I was just whining. It's GREAT to see you back Avery, and I'm going to jump into it again... I love Kassandra too much. Side question: will Dara still be a character? I was really looking forward to that connection. Also, I have an idea, if we didn't want to wipe what we started clean that I can share when I get home tonight. ^^

Every one of the side characters introduced so far will be in the new RP, as they're all part of the larger storyline. If Guru doesn't decide to join us again, I'll definitely be taking over Elias as a character as well, since I was planning to have someone like him as an NPC before he was submitted.

I will also, if LJ approves, begin work on writing out the Omestris history today since both Motya and The Red Seminary foundations were built around that culture. It is going to be a lazy Saturday for me since I am trying to overcome about 26 hours of collective jet lag. LJ I'll start a private convo with you here soon and so that I can keep any ideas you had for the Omestris and send the stuff I write to you for approval.

Scout, you are just expressing a bit of what we all feel, not really whining. I know I wish all of the original cast would have stayed but at this point I think a bit of change is what is needed to ramp us all back up into the story again and Zeph's point about LJ's screening process is, like you said, a good compromise. Someone may even bring in a character that meshes well with Kass's story. I am hopeful that good times are ahead.

So, I was thinking, if we don't wanna restart (which I suppose we can, seeing as we didn't go too far and I'd be okay to redo an intro if you wanted to wipe it clean) the IC - something could go awry early off the bat before they leave for the mission and those who aren't going to be rejoining us (and won't be controlled by you, LJ) would end up being called away for another mission and we never hear from them again. That could provide more plot for later, even. And these new people would come in as the top of their old class, but not quite graduated Inquisitors yet, under a sort of mentorshipdue to their advanced studies? But it's up to you. ^^ Just tossing something out.

It could make sense to have those that have dropped out and that will not be taken over as another persons 2nd character or NPC to be called away, after all an empire must have great need for people like Inquisitors.

If we are sticking with the canon already written (Ha, LJ you have allowed us all to help you create a monster with its own canon now) the original cast were the currently graduated Inquisitors. We were the only ones left after the 12 years of training, the final Conclave. To integrate any new characters and stick with that canon we would have a few options.

1. Fudge the cannon and say the new people were graduates too.

2. Say they were the year that graduated before our characters and have been seconded to this mission because the other have been called away. Though giving new-comers Inquisitor characters that would technically be senior to ours kinda irks me if I am being honest.

3 Say the new comers are final (11th) year Neophytes commissioned to aid the Inquisitors because the others were called away. Like Scout said they could be a sort of an apprenticeship status, promised that if they return they would then be ordained. That could be a good option to foster not only a mentor / mentee relationship but also could breed some interesting conflict.

I am in favor of option 3 than 1 in that order but that is just my two cents.

I think the fairest way to do it would be to alter the canon and make the new characters graduates of the same graduating class as you guys. I don't want there to be any form of seniority or inferiority between the old members and the new folks (both in-story and out), as I don't really care for that kind of stuff. That means we'd be starting over again, though I do have a slightly different beginning prompt planned. At the same time, I'd also like to somehow feature the old characters in the story as well. I'm thinking they will become side characters who were sent along with the first invasion force while you guys (and the new characters) were left behind to later go on the missionary expedition. That way they'll still exist in the story in some form.
