It all began somewhere in China. News of a newborn that gave off a luminescent glow had spread. Ever since then, strange abilities were discovered in various places all across the globe. Time eventually passed without the cause being identified.

The world had become a superhuman society, and about majority of its population possessed some kind of special trait. In such a world swirling with chaos, the profession that everyone once dreamed about and admired, came into the limelight. An age of heroism is upon you, and whether you like it or not, you're going to be part of it.

You might be wondering why you're being forced into all of this, right? Well, its all thanks to Tumble, the rookie sensation who's been plowing her way through the rankings within the superhero community.



Welcome to the world of Crash Course! A My Hero Academia RP set several decades from the original series. You may have noticed, but things are a little different here. We've heard stories of prestigious institutions that have made way for the best and the brightest to prosper and shine. That good and all, but what about everyone else? The less privileged, unfortunate, and outcasts? Normally, your guess would be as good as mine, but not this time.

You will be taking the role of an outsider of some sort. Someone who, for one reason or another, never met the standards society had set form them. In the end, you made the wrong choices and were led down the wrong path. Luckily for you, you've been given the opportunity to take few steps back and give things another shot.

Tumble, has invited/forced you, along with several others, to join her at her agency. Although not talked about by most, Tumble's past was far from being ideal. It took the efforts of a single person to make her what she is today. Think of this as her way of giving back to the community.

During the your time under her guidance, not only will your quirks develop, but also your virtues as a person and a member of society. Hopefully, you'll survive and make it through this crash course into the world of heroics.

History

Superpowers were first discovered in China over a hundred years ago. They rapidly sprouted all across the world from then on, but no one could say why or how these superpowers came about. There were records dating back nearly two centuries of people with superpowers though which could mean they existed for far longer.

The regular person feared those with these strange abilities. For much of the first few decades, quirk-users received brutal discrimination and punishment. Many were forced into camps and prisons and some were stolen away for experimenting. But as the numbers increased and they became more knowledgeable of their own abilities, they banded together and rose against authoritative figures.

As history shows, with time and persistence, compassion begins to grow. Those with quirks collaborated with the quirkless, working side by side to protect civilization and prove that they weren't all power-hungry monsters. There are a handful of people that have made a stand for the rights of quirk-users and influenced the world to follow in their ideals, opening the door to a brighter future for both quirk-users and the quirkless.

Inui Takumi, a world-renown hero known by the name of Rider, settled down in Japan and established a school for heroes. The school was named Yuei Academy and situated within the city of Musutafa. It quickly became the number one school for heroics and birthed many successful heroes, including the symbol of peace and justice, All Might.

Originating from the countryside of Japan, a young man that went by the name of Izuku Midoriya was sought out by Rider himself. He heard news of a young boy and his uncontrollable power. With enough convincing, Rider brought Toshinori back to Musutafa, and there, he raised and trained him to use his power. Even before he obtained this power, Toshinori had always admired the heroes of today, dearly wishing that one day, a poor farm boy like him could help people and serve justice. Rider had given him that opportunity when no one else had, and after graduating, Toshinori claimed the name of All Might.

He was unmatched in skill and heart. All Might became the hero of Musutafa and Japan. Words of his heroic deeds spread through the media across the world and as long as All Might remained, the world had nothing to hear.

The vile name Shigaraki struck fear into the people of Japan. Two years ahead of All Might's time, he graduated from the same great school with exceptional grades, but Shigaraki was a mystery to even the principal. Like All Might, Rider specially invited him to Japan on a full ride for his exceptional skill, rescuing him from a similar lifestyle as All Might. But Shigaraki lived quietly and minded his own things. He graduated and applied for a hero license, but his name never showed up in the hero registry.

Shortly after All Might's revealing to the public, Shigaraki took to the streets, slowly building a reputation in the underground world. While All Might contained the peace and raised the flag of justice, the man known as Shigaraki pulled at strings behind the scenes, gradually creating a society of villains that could rival the triads. And once he had enough power, Shigaraki paraded the streets. Just as All Might had skyrocketed through the ranks of heroes, Shigaraki stole the number one place in most wanted criminals of Japan through numerous acts of villainy.

All Might and Shigaraki faced each other time and time again. And then, on April 22, 2010, All Might died in battle at the hands of Shigaraki. The battle brought great destruction upon Japan, and while the public wept over the death of their beloved icon, criminals and villains cheered for Shigaraki's amazing actions. His body was found in a crater out in Japan's downtown area, heart impaled by a street lamp. After Nobleman's death, criminal activity had increased, and heroes these days just weren't what they used to be.

Shigaraki disappeared the night of that great battle, but his supporters still live, awaiting the day he'll lead them all into the new generation.

Character Creation

In terms of characters, I'll be keeping an open-mind as long as it fits the setting of the world we're going with

• Given that this RP will be based on My Hero Academia, I hope that we can replicate the tone they set for the series. Light-hearted coupled with the occasional sense of realism.
• Potentially, there's are a large amount of powers/quirks you can choose from, as long as they're within reason. Just remember that Quirks are inherited genetically and typically manifest in children by the age of four, at the latest. They're basically an extension of one's bodily functions, so make sure to not go overboard. You can read more about them here.
• Currently, quirks that I suggest you stay away from would include anything that delves into the concepts of character control, time manipulation, reality bending/warping, and absolute energy manipulation.
• An image for your character is a requirement. It helps both myself and your fellow participants when coming up with posts involving your character. The image that you use for your appearance can either be anime or in a more cartoonish style; no real-life or realistic images. Here are some examples: [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6].
• In a nutshell, just make a character that fits, and you're golden.

OOC

• As sappy as it sounds, what'll fortify and make this RP a success is gonna be cooperation from everyone who'll participate in it. I'm pretty sure that you all know that the only way this is going to work is through collaboration and having some sort of mutual respect towards each other. Any disputes between players should be taken to PMs. Hopefully, we don't see any form antagonistic behavior towards other players in the OOC. As long as we all keep our cool, then we're all good.
• You can PM me your characters if you want them to be reviewed without the judging gaze of the other players, but they'll only be formally accept character sheets when they're posted in the OOC to give others a chance to give their input about them.
• You can also PM me any questions you have, ask them in the OOC, or join me on Discord. Just PM me for an invite to the RP's server.
• Also, Feel free to engage in general chatter in the OOC. It helps to establish that sense of community.
• Don't reserve any posts in the OOC or Character Tab for a WIP character.
• Lastly, make sure you keep us updated when it comes to activity. If you're leaving for more than a few days or going to be inactive, it would be nice if you notified us. Just so the RP doesn't stagnate.

• It goes without saying, but to be sure, remember to avoid any god-modding, metag-aming, power-gaming, et cetera.
• In regards to post length, just remember that quality is valued more than quantity. No need to write a lot, just make sure that what you write should advance the plot and not stagnate the RP. This is a Casual RP, so one-liners don't really have a place here at all.
• For post frequency, one post per week in enough. If you haven't posted in a week, and given no prior explanation as to why, your character will probably be turned into an NPC to be used by the GMs or players freely.
• Posting more frequently isn't frowned upon; just make sure to wait and only post after at least one or two other players have posted. This is just to give room for slower posters to catch up. For extended interactions, head over to PMs or the Discord Server and consider making a collaborative post.
• Not expecting it, but regarding romance in this RP, just keep it PG.
• If you have any story ideas, plot ideas or NPC ideas, feel free to tell me or discuss it in the OOC. This RP should be a collaborative effort and your contributions to the overall plot are much appreciated.

• Jason Williams - Is his bark worse than his bite? I guess we'll find out once he bares his fangs.

• Shen-Mu Haumea - She might be blind, but she definitely sees the world better than anyone else!
• Tommy Sparks - Some say that his looks make it hard to dislike him, but I think its just his magnetic personality.
• Shuko Toma - Your typical bookworm or a number-crunching monster? You tell me.
• Jake Vanguard - Possessing an unfathomable will or just incredibly stubborn, this kid just doesn't know when to throw in the towel!
• Akemi Akagi - Our resident wall flower that's just waiting to bloom!
• Yuki Takamine - Cool, calm, and collected; he's the last person you'd need to tell to chill out.
• Nori Azami - You might think she's just full of hot air, but there's more to her than meets the eye!

@Er0r Sweet, sweet. Any plot in particular that you prefer, dude?

Right now, I am really interested in options 1 or 2. On trope I really like playing with is the "wild child", and I can image a person whose quark lead them to isolate himself from society at a early age and live in the worlds, and then whether he joins the heros or villians, it is really just based on how found him first. Though that is the first thing that comes to mind a few minutes after looking through the concepts. I typically shy away from roleplays based on a popular series, but I do see some new ideas here.

Preference from most to least: Sidekicks > Villainy > Average.

That concept actually fits any of the plots quite well. A wild child would definitely find a place for himself within a school for the less privileged or as a problem child in need of some sort of reformation in a hero agency.

Not sure if this would help, but the only thing I wanted to take from the series is the world that they built and the rules bound to it. Aside from that, we'll be staying away from canon characters and events, to make room for original creations from both myself and the participants.

Hopefully we get a decent player pool for this. Personally, my choice would go to Sidekicks. It would be like "same game, but different rules" sort of thing. Although everyone's being guided into the path of heroism, the definition of what heroism is could vary quite a bit.

My preference matches Pollon of : (Greatest to Least) Sidekick > Villians > Average.

I am not sure if I want a mutant type quirk where he just always has animal features, or possibly plant control.

This looks like fun, I'm definitely interested! :D As far as ideas go, I think the sidekick story would be really interesting. I would be willing to do all three though.

If I had to choose, I'd probably list Villainy as my no. 1 with Sidekicks as a close 2nd. Though Average is just as good for me.

@Leotamer Either one would definitely be decent. If you decide to go with a mutant, remember that you're not limited to animals since there were some quirks that made machine-like mutations. Also, you could always go for an interesting animal with a unique ability​.

I'm kinda interested in this. I have two preliminary ideas for quirks. The first being a quirk that is similar to a video game's inventory system, able to store and remove things from a hammerspace meaning they will have to store things that assist with hero work/villainy rather than having actual super human attributes.

The other is less creative, but I like the name "Pinball Wizard" for a guy with Magneto powers :P
