This is a free form fantasy role play which will basically work like this. You can create any type of character you want. They can be of any race, class, background, religion or nation of origin you can imagine. The characters will first meet in a tavern and from there we create the setting, world, monsters, villains, and story lines as we go along. This is basically a true sandbox fantasy role play where you the player create the adventure. You are not limited to one character, and are free to create many characters if you so please. As we are going along, you can create NPCs and villains as well. Collaboration within the OOC for creating the world is encouraged. In this role play, you will not have to go through character creation and can just start posting as the character of your choice, and can reveal their backstory as time goes on. Remember to be as creative as you wish. I will start the story by having my character enter the Tavern. If you want to play in the game it would be nice if you hopped in and said hi to everyone. You can also post your character in the character section if you so wish.

Rules

1. No perfect or overpowered characters
2. No taking control of other peoples characters.
3. I am the final word on everything. I am all powerful.
4. Keep it pg 13 on the sex
5. Have Fun.

I'm usually roaming the more advanced boards but honestly, this seems like the most interesting and promising RP yet. Very oldschool. Thank you. :)

It's okay that you've posted your character in the character tab, but you might want to change the more obvious references to the Elder Scrolls such as referring to the college of winter hold and the Daedra which probably won't exist in this fantasy world. Other than that it's fine.

Alright cool. Do you mind if I just change them to generic fire, frost, and storm demons?

It's all there in the opening post. No need for a character sheet, just jump in and start posting, and you may create a villain.

The only thing the thread creator stated was... please don't throw in a game breaking character.

okay, Villain in the house! If you don't want the barkeep dead you could just say he survived somehow, otherwise I was just trying to have her make an entrance.

So, I'm going to write some lore about how gods work in this fantasy world since the Mad God has become more important to the story than I had originally intended. Each genuine god in this world is merely one facet of the one creator God in this universe. Just as the Christian God is one God in three persons the creator God of this fantasy world is one God in many, many persons. The creator God is indestructible and unstoppable and thus so are his manifestations.

For each aspect of creation there is a God; there are gods of space, time, matter, chaos, order, light, darkness, good, evil, fire, water, and every thing in existence. Perhaps no god however is more terrifying than the Mad God who in common usage is called Loki a name that comes from the tongue of the Norns (Hrothgar's race). Loki is the god of madness, dementia, mania, and utter chaos (different from the other God of chaos which represents entropy rather than the type of nonsense and insanity represented by Loki). He lives in a sphere of existence in the spiritual plane called the Mad Hell (different from the actual hell of fire and brimstone run by the god of evil and the seven demon lords). The Mad Hell is a land where nothing makes sense... and that's really the best description I can give of the place.

It is always changing, always nonsensical, always sinister and dangerous. No normal mortal can enter the realm without slowly being driven stark raving mad, and those who are mad are often brought to this realm upon death. The Mad God is also the God of the darker parts of insanity which include sociopathy and sadism, and many Jeffery Dahmer types end up here instead of the 666 Hells. The Mad God is a God with sinister purposes; his goal is to gain dominion over the other personalities of the creator and drive all creation mad. He is a corrupter driving men insane from his realm and gathering followers in his cult from all races be it elf, human, dwarf, lizard, goblin, orc, tree person, insane monsters, what have you.

His followers in the cult of insanity aim to corrupt the world and make it a more insane place causing horror, death, and disorder wherever they go. They often aim to drive mortals insane either by ruining there lives and torturing them or by trapping their souls in the Mad Hell and driving them insane that way. Their ultimate goal is to expand the Mad Hell into all creation unitl all of creation is the Mad Hell ruled by the one monotheistic Mad God.

I'll also write some lore on where we are for clarification as a starting place is necessary. The country we're in is called the Teutonic Empire and is based on the real life Holy Roman Empire. It is a multifaceted patchwork of baronies, city states, fiefdoms, military dictatorships, and governments which are nevertheless united by religion, ethnicity, and culture. The people which inhabit it are the Teutons, a Germanic type people who are known for their intelligence, orderliness, intelligence, and martial discipline, as well as their great love of alcohol of all types. The government is actually an elective monarchy where the aristocracy elect a weak emperor beholden to them until the date of that emperors death. The emperor is called a Kaiser.

The state or polity we are in right now is called Svartheim and is known specifically for the vast Black Forest which dots it's landscape, a thick dark forest full of horrific monsters of all kinds, trolls, goblins, orcs, ghosts, bogies, boggarts, cruels, ettins, hags, vampires, werewolves, wargs, and many monstrous beasts of all kinds. Bandits, cultists, and witches also make their home here.

Ghosts Deep Cave is a cave said to be haunted by demons and damned souls due to worshipers of the seven demon lords (Lucifer, Stan, Beelzebub, Leviathan, Asmodeus, Belphegor, and Mammon) holding black masses in the cave.

Also, feel free to write your own lore if you so desire in this OOC section. I welcome it.

Very D&Dish.

And I didnt mean to force you to write more by talking about Loki, I just assumed that it was a generic Norse Loki that my character could play off of until he got back to his realm.

Also, regarding my next post, I'm working on it but I'm at work and then gotta pick up my brother from school so it might be a few hours till I can post. but I am trying to read everyone else's posts in the meantime.

EDIT: actually i have half an hour before i have to go back to work, so im gonna post now.

EDIT 2: Ok I posted. And dont worry too much about The Infamous' backstory. its not gonna conflict with anything. the gods and hell realms is from another universe, not the one you made. and he doesnt plan on doing anything to Max or Loki. he just wants to talk @aspie3000

@Infamous Empath Oh no, don't worry about anything you did. The Mad God has just become a main villain in the story in how he and his minion Maximilian have been built up. And now we have a player character who is a servant of the Mad God. It's fine.

@Animera Nope, you can make your character as old or young as you want.

Hey, yeah I don't mean to railroad or anything but I have to admit that my original plan has kind of gone awry. Originally I was hoping that all of our characters would meet in the tavern and become something of a party. The Mad Jester was originally just meant to be a villain for Hrothgar to feud with, a goal for him to pursue after. Anyways my point is that our characters should probably all meet and we should all probably get out of the tavern and do stuff. The Mad God and the Jester as well as the Infamous should make good villains, so that's fine but we need to do other stuff too. This is the first role play I've game mastered in years and I am enjoying it but I've made a few mistakes.
