"I exercise a lot," he explained. "So maybe that's why. Or... maybe that's why I like a lot of food?"

Daya shrugged, "Maybe. Or you have a fast metabolism." Daya herself wasn't very skinny, but she wasn't fat either. That's probably because she doesn't really exercise that often, plus she pretty much only ate meaty foods.

~The Next Day~

Daya snored quietly in her bed as she slept. Sunlight was peeking through the windows, illuminating the small hut.

Out of nowhere, the door was forced open, "I'M HERE BITCHES!" Someone yelled, strutting into the room. Daya sat up, rubbing her eyes. "The hell? Maya?" She looked around, but it was too bright, so she shut her eyes again. "You guessed it! Wake up, I haven't seen you in weeks!" Maya plopped herself next to Daya on the bed.

"So, how's life being a demon hunter?" Maya asked, looking over at Daya. "Eh, it's fine. We've only been on one mission, though." Daya was now almost fully awake, but the sun still hurt her eyes, so she covered her face with her hands. "Oh, cool! Did you see any cool animals out there?" Maya asked, the ears on her head perking up.

Maya is a rabbit hybrid, with large, brown ears on the top of her head. The only parts of her body that didn't have fur are her face, palms, and feet. Maya is also hyper, as you could probably tell.

"We saw a lot of birds. We also saw a few deer out there, too." Daya paused, rubbing her face. "Most of the time we were just walking, though." She mumbled afterwards. "Who's on your team? Are there any humans?" Maya asked. "Nah. There's an esper named Ethan, and another hybrid named Sebastian. Sebastian is the leader of our group."

Sebastian jumped out of bed as the sun was rising. He loved the smell of the air fresh in the morning, and the atmosphere when the world was bright but still asleep. He leaned out over his balcony, breathing it in, ears forward, tail curled against his back. When he smiled, his small fangs were just visible beneath his upper lip. He normally wouldn't reveal so many of his bestial aspects in this quarter of the citadel, but the streets below were empty. No one would notice.

He went quickly inside, grabbing his bag and grooming his face, then ran back out and leaped over the rail of the balcony. Sebastian remembered the first time he did - peering over the edge wondering whether he'd make the drop from two stories up. A fit human could do it, he'd told himself, and I'm fitter than a human.

Landing low with bent knees and a sturdy thud, Sebastian took off, once again embarking on the four-mile sprint to DHHQ. The roads were all his this time, as hardly anyone would be outside this early. It took him a half hour, but still he arrived at the always-open campus before 5 o'clock.

"What time is it..?" Daya asked, looking around. "It's like.. 5:30. Why?" Maya asked. Daya flopped back down on the bed, groaning. "It's way too early, but I have to be there soon. You can come with, though." She muttered, rubbing her face.

"Hell yeah I'm going! Hurry up and get dressed!" Maya pushed her, then stood up. Daya huffed, rolling onto her side. "Fine, just look away and lemme get dressed." She muttered.

A few minutes later, and they were already on their way to the DHHQ. "By the way, have you started thinking about moving in there? I heard they have free housing there for the demon hunters." Maya asked. "Yeah, I'm gonna move in there soon once I feel like doing the paperwork."

They finally reached the DHHQ after around thirty minutes of walking. After going through the security, they walked up the three flights of stairs and into the team's room. "Good morning, Sebastian. I brought a friend with me." She mumbled, her voice still showing she was tired.

"Hello, person I have never met!" Maya pushed past Daya, looking down at Sebastian. Maya was shorter than Daya, but not by a lot.

Ethan was sitting on the counter, bare feet dangling over the side. They hung high above the floor, as he was short and the counter was not. He'd apparently brought in a few things to spice up their workspace, namely magic devices and personal lab equipment. His hair was still blue.

Sebastian had been fiddling with a small cube-like object with magic runes and shapes inscribed on it. "Oh, hello, who's this?"

"My name is Maya! I'm Daya's best friend, and I'm gonna be here for the day." Maya announced, stepping inside the room. Daya followed with an embarrassed look on her face. "I hope it's okay that she's here." She mumbled, sitting down.

Ethan drew his legs up into his chest, wrapping his arms around his knees and moving as far back on the counter as it allowed. He gave Maya a hostile glare, though after a moment looked away and stared off into the distance.

"Oh, okay, cool," Sebastian replied, having no problem with it. "So, Maya, are you training t' be a DH, or...?"

Maya went silent for a moment, noticing Ethan's quick glare. "Uh, yes! I am. I thought that if I could come with Daya a few times I could learn how to do this better. Or something like that."

"Oh, well then! How far along in training are you? Are you past your second year?"

[PopeMaddi]

"Yes, but I'm still gonna have to be in training for... at least one more year, I think they said? But still, I'm really excited!" Maya smiled, one of her ears flopping over.

Daya's fingers tapped on the table as she waited for her headache to go away. Waking up with someone yelling in your ear isn't really the best way to start the day.

"All right, then! I wish you good luck!" Sebastian gave her a smile and a thumbs-up. Then he turned his attention to Daya, who seemed a little out of it. "You okay, Daya?"

"Yeah, 'm fine. Just got a headache." She mumbled, massaging her head. "Probably because this big butthole decided to wake me up by screaming."

"Oh, well, I was going to ask whether you guys wanted t' go on a mission, but if you're not up for it, that's okay," he said. Ethan didn't answer; he continued to stare at the wall.

[PopeMaddi]

"Maybe tomorrow, if Maya doesn't wake me up again." Daya sighed, lying her head down on the table.

Maya looked down at her, feeling guilty. "Okay, fine, I won't be loud. It's just that I haven't seen you in forever!"

Sebastian giggled. "Yeah, that's understandable. It's pro'ly best I don't know where you live, as you'd have two people screaming at you in the morning."

"Ugh, don't even get me thinking about that." Daya mumbled. Maya sat down next to Daya, rubbing her back. "You'll be fine. Hey, Sebastian, is it? Is it okay if I tag along on one of this missions?" She asked.
