Malakaus didn't survive eighteen years in Krumpus Bay by thinking that the tough gangster attitude worked on cops. He survived by playing smart, which means lawyering up and letting someone who actually knows how to fight a legal battle do it for him. Of course if it's just a regular shoot out, Malakaus will carry his weight. It really depends on how clean these cops are.

How convenient for them to find this fresh and untouched evidence. One would wonder where the prosecutor had obtained such a thing, as if it was created out of thin air.

In terms of legal matters Malakaus leaves those in responsible hands. But if things are going to get twisted, he knows people who can back him up on it. He's fought on both sides of the law and had to deal with crims in the streets and in the courts. Perhaps too much for a regular law-abiding citizen, but he's certainly not going to let himself take the fall on trumped up charges.

Cuz Malakaus also knows he's innocent, and isn't going to screw himself over by making up or accepting fake evidence on the off chance it gets found out and gets his entire defense thrown out. The less loose ends the better. Only if things start getting twisted, or could get twisted, would he want to rise the stakes and get accomplices.

I have multiple character ideas now. What I really wanna do is play 2 characters, Ulrich von Lichtenstein and Abbadon Delsenora. Ulrich is half-orc, half-dwarf and Abbadon is a black-winged avariel (winged elf). Both were outcasts when I made them for a 5e D&D game who were quickly accepted by the group I was playing with. I could turn Ulrich into a religious brute who protects Abbadon and Abbadon could become my tattoo artist who can make normal, nanotech, enchanted, and enchanted nanotech tattoos.
