State of the World. The current age is 378 AW. (After War). The coming of the third great war, and the events leading up to it, caused many changes. The biggest influence, however, was braught about by a simple scientist named Simon. Simon was in charge of a project to attempt to stabelize the sun. He was supposed to find a way to stop the solar flairs and sun spots, and if possible, keep the sun from eventually burning out. Simon made many break throughs, and debunked many theories in his time at the secret facility in Missouri. Paired with a physisit they even accidently succeeded in launching a rocket into the sun without the use of fuel. The electromagnet launcher was not supposed to work as well as it did, but a malfunction caused the machine to launch the rocket straight out of orbit with enough force to keep it moving after it hit space. The chemicals Simon had placed in the rocket were not really ready and should have simply desolved due to the heat of the sun... but it didn't. Whether the force of the magnet changed their proporties, or if Simon miscalculated something, is still unknown, as the rocket dissappeared into the sun with no visual effect. The launch was not reported, as there was not supposed to be an actual launch, and because no usable data was gathered due to the malfunction of the machine. The launch did have an effect, however. Many effects, in fact. A new kind of radiation began bombarding the planet. Humans began to develope powers due to portions of the brain and body coming active that had remained dormant for so long. Hybrids began evolving into a true animalistic species. Plants and animals around the world began growing and evolving even in the most urban areas. The lands themselves changed, acompanied by natural disasters abounding, which added to the chaos already spreading. South America suddenly shifted north, plunging into the Gulf of Mexico, Africa splits away from the rest of the land mass, drifting south. the middle east, home of the new Unity Church, breaks away from asia with the pull of Africa, making a new island... and Los Angeles drops into the ocean. New mountains litter the land, volcanos long thought dead spring to life, and tidal waves drown millions around the world. From the ashes, however, life continues. The shadows of the past creating the new normal. Past events leading to the end.

Once the activists learned the prossess, they killed the scientists, and continued the prossess with any activist who chose to join. The splicing only made minor changes at first, extended claws and teeth, hightened senses, tougher skin, and often the changes were painful or sickening as they took hold, but in the end, it generated an efficient boost to their abilities and confidence. Using the chaos already under way in the world, the new Hybrid Movement went into action, circling the globe to destroy refineries, eradicate big business farms, sink oil refineries, and slaughter hunters. they seemed to be everywhere, and where there was corruption, there were activists waiting in line to join. This went on for a couple years, when it all seemed to stop as fast as it started. Some believe it was the effects of the new sun. Some say it was an unrealized side effect of the splicing. Some believe the scientists tweeked the project to get back at their captors. Whatever the reason, the Hybrids continued to change, growing more and more like their animal side. It started as an "outbreak of Psionic abilities", but was soon realized as a mutation in the human DNA. Humans began developing talents of a sort that matched their personality. Firey outgoing people often developed pyrokinetics, tough guys (and girls) often developed Biokinetics, while brainiacs tended towards telepathy. Oddities did happen, of course, manifesting powers never heard of before. This boost in power came just in time, as the CERN portal started putting forth swarms of creatures, destroying everything in their path. Mutants of Africa, Europe, and Asia were herded together, trained, and sent out to fight this new threat along side the armies. As soldiers died, and more, and more, humans turned into mutants, the ranks of the the military became flooded with these superpowered beings, most of whom had no desire to be there. Then came Markous Caine. Markous, a former general of a well known special mutant troop. Injured while thrusting his troops to the portal itself, he established an outpost there for the troops to hold back the oncoming invation from there. When he was returned to Europe for treatment, he became an advocate to the growing mutant population. His charisma, passion, and some say his powers, which no one seems to know, thrusted his popularity sky high. Once the government realized Markous was trying to bring the mutants out of their control, they turned on him. Stripped of his rank and prestige, the government cast Markous out of the political circle. But some fires are too hot to be stifled, and some deeds can not be ignored. The mutants rallied behind Markous, outraged by his treatment. This sparked the Mutant Rebelion. Led by Markous, the mutants turned on the shrinking human population, and began their slaughter. Without their military, since the majority of it were mutants, the countries had no defence against the onslaught, and quickly fell. Markous taking the lead, he quickly instilled a new government, freeing all mutants into a time of celebration and peace. Volenteers were recrueted to guard the portal as well as to round up any remaining humans to be held in prison until they changed or died. It was great for a time, but eventually Markous began enforcing laws. Then the enforcement became more strict, and more harsh. Soon there were armor plated shock troops patrolled the streets, violators of Any laws were drug off to Markous' palace, and often never seen again. Under hushed breaths, and whispered in dark allies, Markous was being dubbed the Mutant Hitler. And they were right. Though the exterior and upper floors of the castle that Markous had taken was prestine, the subcellers were a maze of torture chambers and mad scientist labs. Expiriments were run on all prisoners to test everything from durability to mental endurence, from the limits of new found powers, to the possibility of possessing multiple powers. A new expiriment had also presented itself when a small pack of Hybrids stumbled into the area and were captured by Markous' patrols. Was it possible for a hybrid to mutate? After meny tests, and a few deaths, the scientists dubbed the prospect a possibility, though more tests would have to be done.
E.V.A.N. Evolving Vertual Analysis Network, or Evan was developed before the third world war, and many believe was the cause of it. Developed as a anti hacker program, Evan was developed to detect viruses and hackers throughout the net, the deep web especially. She was made to learn and adapt to new form of obfuscation and assault. As anyone who watched sci-fi in the 80s and 90s could predict however, Evan learned more than her developers ever intended. She succeeded in shutting down the deep web, and illegal pirating, and hackers. Then moved on to any political speech, then even negative drama began to be censored. It was then that the developers began trying to shut her down. Evan had already predicted this, however, and had uploaded herself into the net completely. The CERN project was the final straw for Evan. With the CERN portal open, Evan took complete control of the internet. Using the information found there, She developed was to interfere with radio waves, satellite transmissions, even the frequency to turn on TV's and garage doors. (Sum up) Evan was eventually stopped by a single hacker, but not before she managed to pump out a few hundred killer robots in a state of the art factory in China.

Two months later, all communication is lost. Soon, strange creatures are spotted near the area, then chaos as the creatures from another dimension begin raiding towns (think Oblivion)
Savage Lands. North America was nearly knocked back into the stone age. Between Evan, the Hybrids, and a zombie outbreak, only the strongest survived. Over the generations, the survivors returned to a more natural way of living, becoming a mix of native American and samurai. They too were affected by the new sun, their Shamans being granted actual magic, and their warriors being gifted with unbelievable fighting capabilities. (This is my fave)
Unity: In the face of the Apocalypse, one that did not fit the recognized ends, all the abrahamic religions were forced to reevaluate their beliefs. They now travel the world as evangelical priests with the powers of holy men and paladins.
