Name: Roy Williamson Sex: Male Birthday: August 12, 1989 Birthplace: New York City Nationality: USA Occupation: Chemist Education: Graduated Oxford (Chemistry Doctoral Degree)
Skill(s):
Chemistry Knowledge: He has a basic grasp on most forms of chemistry, however his area of expertise is inorganic chemistry.
Kiddy-Scripting: He had a minor in computer engineering and knows how to construct basic lines of code.
Appearance: Roy is unsuspecting fellow. He is about an inch above the average person, and he is a bit lanky in appearance, but he is not so far out of the norm that eyes are drawn to him. His skin is very white from staying in doors, and his skin is highly freckled. His light blue eyes are shown through his prescription glasses, and sometimes hidden by his messy red hair. When he is not working, he wears very cheap casual clothing, such a t-shirt from the department store, and some jeans he bought online.
Personality: Roy appears subdued, calm, and rational on the outside, and appears outworldly naive and one to follow the rules to a fault. However, this is simply because he has not gotten caught.
Roy is cynical and holds grudges. However, he also always pays back a debt.
Roy has been naturally gifted with intelligence, which while is a great boon, has also lead him to pride and sloth. Roy has never been one to try to stand out, instead he did the bare minimum to leave a good impression, as he didn’t really care what others thought of him besides a practical sense.
Biography: Roy was born gifted with intelligence. He started talking before the other kids. He learned to read before the other kids. He learned to multiply before the other kids, however none of that mattered to his drunken parents. They were never abusive, but they never cared about him either. The fact that school posed little challenge to him and that his parents didn’t care led to him developing a sense of apathy about life, simply breezing by doing better than some kids who put all of their energy into doing well.
Roy had some friends, but none that he developed any deep or meaningful relationships for. When he graduated from high school, the first thing he did was apply for college to get away from his parents. He always had an interest in chemistry, and ended up using most of his time researching the subject and digging into the topic simply because he had nothing else to do. He found college parties loud and obnoxious. When he graduated, he designed to continue his life of just coasting through life by taking a low-stress research job.
Power(s): Liquid Absorption: Roy is able to draw in liquid he makes skin contact with into an extra-dimensional space. This extra-dimensional space can store about 24 gallons of liquid, that he can separate into different sections, or mix together with this space. He can absorb liquid at a rate of 5 gallons per second.
He is able to have the liquids he absorbed either be discharged by his sweat glands, or focused and shot a line of liquid about a few dozen meters at a maximum rate of 5 gallons per second.
Anything that is completely dissolved into a liquid that he absorbs is absorbed with the liquid.
Other: He carries around a lighter with his initials engraved into it.
still interested btw, just debating how I want to play this... could be fun to play someone given a totally useless power, could be fun to play someone with a useful one...
Name: Andrea Williamson Sex: Female Birthday: 18 November 1994 Birthplace: New Westminster, British Colombia, Canada Nationality: Swedish/Canadian Occupation: Graphic Designer/Web Development Education: Vancouver Technical Secondary School
Skill(s): -Artist: Andrea has a natural knack for art across both digital and physical mediums; she knows how to pair colors, visualize how a drawing should come together, and whatever the fuck else it is someone who’s good at drawing does. -Competent adult: she can cook, clean, and is generally capable of taking care of herself -Top-notch bowler: averages scores in the 230’s -corporate navigator: Andrea is especially skilled at talking through meetings, navigating workplace drama, and making a good impression.
Appearance: Height: 5’5” Weight: Variable, 123 when fully healthy. before the 12th, Andrea was a relatively normal 23-year-old. Brown hair down to her shoulder blades, usually braided. Hazel eyes, small, rounded ears, well-manicured eyebrows and eyelashes. Nose of moderate length, rather pointy. Thin lips, wide and soft chin. Small rectangular glasses, though her farsightedness is very minor. Somewhere in between slender and stocky, and overall in decent shape. Usually wearing grey jeans and a nice blouse, sometimes goes for skirts or dresses. Only if they have pockets, though.
After the genesis of the twelfth, Andrea’s body began to slowly decompose; as such she will be at various levels of decomposition depending on when she last siphoned. About two or three days into the rot, she’ll look something like this: All around her is the stench of death. Her face is gaunt, some of her greasy hairs over it. There are deep bags under her eyes, and it looks like her right one is just beginning to cloud over from a cataract. She notices you and attempts to say something, but her body is racked by a coughing fit. Her voice is still surprisingly clear as she begs you to leave her alone, hiding her hands. “what is happening to me?”
“…what did I do to deserve this?”
Personality: Andrea was never super outgoing, but the friends that she does pick up almost always lead to long lasting relationships. She was also relatively accommodating and passive, not wanting to cause too many waves. She’s a reasonably generous person as well, within reason. If someone did wrong Andrea, she was relatively quick to forgive at first, though a few manipulative relationships have left her untrusting of people who don’t keep promises – she’s rather hypocritical on this front though, and rarely held herself to the same standards as others. She was rather conservative for her generation, though is still relatively accepting of deviant personality types; or at least not openly rude. Andrea is convinced that one succeeds in life through their own skill. This is despite the large amount of luck she had in terms of getting a job right out of school via family connections, and the fact that she is relatively privileged in terms of her middle class upbringing and in being white.
Biography: There’s nothing really remarkable about Andrea, and were it not for the genesis of the twelfth, it is likely that she would have lead a completely unremarkable life, died a completely unremarkable death, and been nothing but a tiny cog in the machine that is our world. Growing up in a suburb of Vancouver gave her access to the vast entertainment offered by a city, but with a home more removed from its bustle (though still with some of its own). She never really excelled in school, caring more for her art projects, but got enough B’s to merit a decent GPA, and got a job straight out of tech school thanks to the manager being a friend of her mother. She moved to an apartment in Burnaby and started on her job. She’s been doing that ever since, and loves going to party on the weekends, as well as competing in a local bowling league.
Power(s): -Constant Rot: Andrea’s body is in a state of slow decomposition, she feels almost no pain, and does not need to eat, drink, or breath – only siphoning can sustain her. However, she is also constantly sick, slowed by injuries/limbs falling off, and is physically horrifying. -siphon touch: her touch (hands only) will cause anything that can to start rotting, wilting, rusting, or otherwise waste away. The longer she maintains contact, the more affected that which she touches will be. As she drains the target, her personal decomposition reverses, allowing her to eventually return to a normal human being for a few hours. If she goes more than a week without siphoning any energy she will die. At that point, it would take about 3 hours of continuous siphoning to fully re-normalize herself. I have some ideas for power evolution depending on what path she goes down… I can PM them to you or include them in this post if you’d like to see what directions she could head.
yeah that works, more or less. I suppose that I didn't really think about siphoning speed, and I like the idea of that speeding up based on how close to death she is.
what exactly do you mean by that? She siphons at the same rate no matter what but can only sometime kill? because that would be at odds with her ability to target non-living things (i.e. rusting a steel beam or something)
As of now, it would take about 10 minutes continuous siphoning to reverse the process of decomposition a single day, and about 15 to kill someone. So on a human target she can inflict the equivalent of what would be 1 day's worth of draining in 2.5 minutes. Trying to make rate of recovery variable sounds to be more trouble than it's worth and not really what i was going for.
Of course, it gets a tad odd trying to compare decomposing a humam to weathering a brick wall. The long and the short of it is that I'm trying to make it work at a relatively moderate pace
I could slow the siphon rate a bit, or maybr drastically increase the rste at shich she rots... a tad confused about your comment about the air though.
I have a pre-made super power character that I have been craving to use, but every RP she's been in has died before anything got real. I'm interested in seeing where this goes, and I'm curious if I could drop that character into this setting with a few obvious tweaks. I can PM you the character so we can hammer out details before dropping her here. ^.^
