"Goodmorning Aviza, it is currently Saturday, June sixteenth, twenty three thirty six at O-nine hundred hours. You have one scheduled event today, the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the Reaper War memorial and celebration." The soothing female voice that came from the the A.I. built into her data-pad, that sat upon the metallic nightstand, on the left side of her bed, had quickly but gently awoken Aviza from a most relaxing and dreamless sleep. The lights inside of her bedroom slowly turned on and the windowshade that masked the impressive view of the citadel beyond it, lifted. A soft song now filled her massive apartment, helping her out of her grogginess and back into reality as she sat up in her bed and pulled the covers back from herself. For a moment, she did nothing but sit upon her bed and look out through the window a bit of a distance to her right. Swinging two legs off the side of the bed, she quickly moved to her feet and headed to the bathroom, stepping into the stone and metal shower, closing the fogged glass door behind her before turning on the water.
A few long moments would pass before Aviza would appear once more, appearing to be much more awake and refreshed than when she had first awoken. After getting dressed and picking out her normal set heavy combat armor, which had been cleaned and polished the day before, she slipped into it and headed down stairs and into the kitchen to make herself some dextro-based coffee. This had become the norm for her, and was a part of her everyday routine. Somehow, waking up, taking a shower, getting dressed, making coffee and then grabbing something to eat had a simple satisfaction in it that Aviza enjoyed. What Aviza had picked out to eat today was some sort of cereal with sustenance built into it, and quite a lot of sweetener as well. She sat alone at a large table, large enough to hold at least ten people of any race and size. In front of her was a massive television and upon its screen was the Citadel news, reporters were talking about the the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the Reaper War memorial and celebration in front of the Citadel memorial gardens.
She wasn't really listening, it was mostly background noise as this time while thoughts ran through her head about what her spectre duties were for the day. There was the mention of tightened security due to some strange sightings and occurrences over the last couple days in the presidium, but that brought up little to no concern for Aviza. She was sure security could handle whatever was going on, it was quite possible people were just being paranoid or some civilians were trying to sneak into the event, which was very common.
After finishing her breakfast, she brought the empty bowl and mug over to sink and washed them out, setting them into a dishwasher and heading to the front door of her apartment. Grabbing onto her Executioner Pistol that was in a locker near the front door, she quickly left her apartment, the door locking behind her. There was an hour before the event would start, and this gave Aviza plenty of time to kill some time. Stepping into UT-47A Kodiak taxi that was reserved for high-ranking government officials upon the citadel. The pilot glanced over at Aviza as she took her seat and strapped herself in, then asked where she was headed. "Presidium memorial gardens." was all Aviza said before the Kodiak quickly took off and headed in the direction of the Presidium.
After a short while, they would arrive in the newly upgraded presidium, looking even more impressive than it did fifty years ago. Aviza stepped out of the Kodiak and thanked the pilot who saluted her and then departed. Now, all around her was a positive energy, which came from the excitement of the anniversary. To say that the PResidium was crowded, would be a gross understatement, the area was practically packed with civilians, military personnel and government officials of the like. For a brief moment she thought she caught sight of Maiden Liara, then pushed it out of her mind, heading to the heavily secured and guarded entrance into the memorial gardens. Two male Turians in heavy armor stopped Aviza at the gate and asked to see her identification. Aviza flashed her spectre badge upon the left shoulder of her armor, that was all they needed to see, if they liked it or not. With a sharp salute, the Turians let Aviza into the grounds before returning to their duty.
The Memorial gardens where now heavily decorated with not only statutes but also actually artifacts from the Reaper war. These included but were not limited to parts of ships that had taken part in the fight, medals and decorations, a wall with a large digital screen that showed all of the fallen, another large wall that showed all those that had taken part in the war. Somehow, they even managed to have part of a reaper, and even Commander Shepard's N7 armor, all proudly put on display and heavily guarded. Multiple A.I. Athena's were set up around the grounds to answer questions any questions that participants may have. A distance back from the main area where all these artifacts were on display, was the main stage where the council would shortly give their speech. A distance away from that was the area where all the food and drink were being tended to, and on the other side of that were the areas of entertainment that would be put to use after the main event.
At the moment, Aviza didn't see anyone she knew, which was fine to her, this gave her the chance to go look over the new additions to the gallery. She was particularly interested in the piece of the Reaper that had been put up on display. "Is that not dangerous?" she thought to herself, "It must not be if they have it out in the open like this." Still, the sight of it made her oddly uncomfortable, and it took a lot for that to happen, not even the life size replicas of the husks and other hostiles that were fought in the war could do that. Suddenly, she had a migraine and had to turn away from the piece of the Reaper.
In the distance, the council could be seen heading for the stage, along with heavy security at their sides. All but two of the original council members were still alive, Captain Anderson had been lost at the Reaper war and Valern had died from old age. A new human known as Nikolai had taken Captain Andersons place and the newest Salarian to have spot among the Council was named Telarus. Things had changed greatly from the time of the Reaper wars and even Sparatus was less of a stubborn, self centered, egotistical prick, but not by much. Aviza was not that fond of him, but wouldn't openly say such a thing.
Each of the council members now took their place upon the stage and the crowd moved over to them, taking their respectful seats and awaiting for the speech to begin. Aviza had a place to sit near the front of the crowd, she had asked to be placed as close to them as she could, with enough room to get a shot on anyone or anything stupid enough to try and attack them. After taking her seat, she glanced around her then looked over her pistol to ensure it was loaded and ready to fire if anything did happen, which had not since the close of the Reaper wars. It was still good to be prepared though, and it seemed she was not the only one looking out for the council. She could now see a number of other Spectres she personally knew and called friends, a number of them humans, and even a hanar. That was a story to tell, a hanar spectre, it made her instantly think of the Blasto films, and how Commander Shepard had called them out on set, yet they kept it in the film. A sly smirk spread across her face now as this thought ran through her mind.
