The first thing you notice is a slight dizziness, then the world around you begins to constrict. Thought of action and the action itself become indistinguishable. Sensations become disconnected from direction or place, and thought becomes your reality. Then, an indeterminate amount of time later, the process reverses itself as you are once again aware of direction and location.
You find yourself in a grand throne room. Before you sits a man in an embroidered silk robe upon a jeweled throne accented by onyx and gold. Beside you are several other young women.
"Hello, ladies." says the man on the throne. "I am Lucien, I am the most powerful mortal in this realm. What you just experienced was not-space. It is what exists between the realms, a place, if that is the right word, where time and space have no meaning. And moving through it is but one of my abilities.
I'm going to be honest with you. I brought you here because I have had a vision. In less than thirty years I will die, though I know not exactly when, why, or who will kill me. Because of that I have done the only thing I know of that can save my realm from the forces that, every day, try to encroach on it. I sought a bride, someone to give me an heir. I will teach my heir all that I can, and you shall be my regent until their sixteenth birthday. All I have will belong to the child, and will be under your control until they come of age.
I understand that you may not wish to be here, but the only thing which can return you home before a lunar cycle has passed is my death, and that, of course, is out of the question.
You are all among the most powerful beings in your realms, but that is not enough for me to know which of you will be the best mother of my child. That is why you will be tested. The group of you will go out and eliminate those that wish me dead, and in so doing, may end my need for an heir."
All of you will need to be female humanoids between 15 and 30 years old (or the equivalent for your race). He doesn't care if your powers are genetic (like the Xmen) or magical, he just doesn't have any use for technology. As far as power scale, I will be playing as Lina Inverse (unless one of you wants to play as her, at which point I'll switch to Avatar Korra.)
