Life has been a bit… odd, for Alexander Phillips recently. Ever sense the rumor of the ‘killer app’ had begun; the young man has had difficulty sleeping including, but not limited too weird dreams. Then again weird dreams were nothing out of the ordinary since he had been having them for a long time.

“Have a good day!” The happy brunette waved good bye to his classmates as he headed towards his after school job. Alex had been working at a local coffee shop for a long time and his charming smile, ember eyes and cheeky attitude drew a lot of people to the shop. Juggling things, making good drinks and entertaining guests with stories were just a few things the young man did well and it showed as he walked home with nearly forty dollars in cash every day he worked.

Today the conversation within the coffee shop rolled around the ‘killer app’; something Alex jus brushed off as a rumor and nothing more. It wasn’t until he locked up the shop and went to turn on his music for walking home that he found a new application had been downloaded onto his phone. The icon was creepy and no matter how many times Alex slid it over to the trash bin, it would stay there. After giving a shrug he turned on his music and continued on his way home. Must be a ‘required’ app for his phone; that’s happened once before so why not?

Finally home, though his parents weren’t; the young man cooked himself dinner, ate alone, completed his homework and went to bed/

That night however… the dreams continued. This time it was much more intense.

“Huh?!” The brunette haired boy shot up off of a bed but it wasn’t his bed. Above him was a cold stone ceiling and on his body was a pair of prison clothing of pants and a shirt. “What?” He jumped up from his bed and his feet hit the cold stone floor which caused him to let out a yip.

“QUIET!” A small voice shouted at her before a smack against metal rang in his ears.

“It seems he has awoken.” Another much softer voice said as the brunette turned to look towards them. On the other side of the bars of what he could only assume was a cell stood two knee high girls in blue uniforms.

“Guards?” Alex questioned, squinting that them.

“Quiet inmate, you do not have the right to speak until our master has addressed you.”

“Caroline, it seems the other is about to wake…”

Other? Alex thought as he looked around, it wasn’t until that moment that he realized he could see into the cell next to him and in it laid another person. “Hey!” He yelled running to the clear wall. He banged on it a few times and continued to shout to get their attention but not even him banging his fists carried over to the other side.

A week had passed since Simone first stepped foot into her new city, her new home. A family friend had taken her in for the year whilst her parents went on an extended business trip. The family friend was a man in his early forties, who she had known since she was but a wee baby. To her, he was simply Uncle Ryan, or Uncle. Since the move, Uncle Ryan had bid the girl get acquainted with her surroundings, instead of immediately starting school as one normally would. That didn't bother her, though, as it let her learn the path to and from school, as well as the path from her home to the library.

The evening sun hung low in the sky as the girl meandered quietly down the sidewalk, heading back to her Uncle's home. Her dark brown locks bounced along with the rhythm of her steps as she walked, bangs shifting toward and away from soft caramel eyes. If someone paid enough attention, they would notice that she seemed tired, as bags were beginning to form beneath her eyes.

Ever since she'd moved to this place she'd been having strange, unsettling dreams. That, on top of overhearing about an app that could kill anyone you didn't like, left Simone a little on edge. She didn't know if the rumors were true, but she wasn't the type to completely write anything out of the ordinary off as false. You never know what's out there.

Once she was finally back to her Uncle's home, she found he had fallen asleep on the couch. With a soft smile, she found a blanket, and placed it over him. Hungry, she went to the kitchen to make herself something to eat, only to find a plate of lukewarm food sitting out on the table. Silently, she thanked Ryan, and carefully made her way upstairs to her bedroom to read while she ate.

Plate cleaned, and book finished, Simone finally laid down to rest for the night.

If only she were so lucky.

"...It seems the other is about to awake." Was all she heard as she bolted upright from her bed. Before she noticed anything else, she felt a massive weight pulling at her wrists, and legs. Dazed, and confused, she stumbled out of bed.

What she saw scared her.

Dark stone surrounded her on all sides, except for two spots. The wall she was facing as she stood beside her bed was clearly made of glass, and the only exit in sight of her were wrought iron bars which formed the door of what she now understood to be a cell. Before she was really able to focus on anything else, she noticed someone donned in similar striped apparel to her own pounding on the glass wall that separated them.

She couldn't hear anything, though. As though the male figure wasn't actually there.

"What... what's going on?" She questioned no one in particular, her caramel eyes wide with fear. "Where am I? Why am I in a cell?" She couldn't be certain, but she figured that if she couldn't hear the man on the other side of the glass, he couldn't hear her either. Even still, she had to try something. So, with all her strength, she slammed her side into the glass wall. Once, twice, three times before she finally crumpled to the floor in a heap.

After a few moments of catching her breath, the woman stood and dragged her body over to the cell bars. She gripped them tightly, and stared out into the area in front of her cell, trying to find anything she could to try and escape.

“Hey hey hey!” Alex shouted at the glass trying to calm the girl down. Sure this was bad… looking but this couldn’t be real right? This is something going on with his imagination right? I mean he was sleeping after all… His large hands ran through his brown hair as his gentle brown eyes scanned the area around him. Obvious she couldn’t hear him as he couldn’t hear here and then there was… there was…

“QUIET INMATE!” Caroline yelled slamming her baton against the girl’s cell. “You were not to question our master’s intentions!” The blonde haired girl with the eye patch glared at the confused looking woman.

Alex however was too busy staring forward to realize what was going on with the two. A man with a long nose had appeared at a desk in the center of the room. Uh… he slowly made his way to the front of the cell and gripped the bars.

“Ah, I see you are both awake.” The man’s deep voice echoed throughout the area, the area looked as though it was surrounded by cells but only the two that he and the other girl were in were occupied. “Welcome to the Velvet room.”

“Room?” Alex popped off in a slightly mocking tone. “We’re in cells, how could you call this a room.”

“QUIET!” The sharp toned blonde slammed her baton against his fingers pressing them into the cell bars.

“OUCH!” he yanked his hands off the bar and used his good hand to protect his injured one. “That hurt!” He barked at the young girl who seemed to smirk with a ‘come at me’ twinkle in her eye. However, despite the fact that he didn’t want to be the guy who beat up an 8 year old girl, he had a feeling she was much more tough than she looked. “What is going on here?” Alex called out to the man in the middle.

“What is going on indeed.” The man said with a laugh to his voice. “You two, are very unique and soon time will tell just how unique you are.”

His gaze moved to the girl on the other side of the glass. Could she hear all of this too? It looked like she was responding…
