Bastian watched Elizabeth raising herself up, blushing while the necklace around his neck shimmered, displaying an illusion of his wife. Bastian blinked and gulped, before caressing her lips with his paw, leaning over enough to kiss her longingly until she stopped. Reminiscing when his wife always jokingly praised him for being a better kisser, when asking whom she was comparing him to, she’d never say...
“Okay, okay. My brother’s wagon is located at the stables, secured in the back for only special customers. I’ll fetch you my permission notice and you lovebirds can be on your merry way.” The man said with some bitterness in his voice, shutting the door quickly and walking off with thunderous stomps that could be heard from the outside. Bastian cleared his throat, looking at Elizabeth.
“I’m sorry. I’ll get you some dry clothes and some blankets when we return to the stables…” Bastian said looking up noticing the heavier rain had changed to a lighter drizzle. Hearing the man mumbling inaudibly, sounding like he was having a conversation. The door quickly swung open widely from a gust of wind, the man seemed to glance off to his right before extending his arm with a rolled up parchment paper in his grasp.
“Here. Maybe serve me the heads that murdered my brother to express your gratitude.” The man stated. Bastian quickly stepped closer toward the door, taking and securing the parchment inside something made of wool. Bastian reached out for Elizabeth’s hand and turned to leave, but his ears perked up hearing the faintest cry coming from a woman that didn’t sound like Elizabeth. His clenched his teeth, his eyes narrowed turning quickly watching the man push his door closed in haste. Thrusting his paw to grab the door inches away from closing again and promptly storming inside the butchery, leaving Elizabeth outside. Bastian looked in shock and disgust, seeing animal carcasses chained up against the wall. Along with a woman wearing only underwear and a blindfold, restrained having the man wrapping something around her mouth. Bastian’s necklace started getting darker. Rushing to the man and grabbing his face with his paw and squeezing it tightly, claws piercing into his flesh. The man squirmed and starting hitting Bastian, but it didn’t even make him flinch.
“I should castrate you where you stand!” Bastian snarled drawing his sword with opposite paw.
“Wait-wait! I’ve respected her and paid her for her time. I-I haven’t even had her yet...” The man pleaded. Bastian took every bit of fortitude not to kill him, throwing him down to the ground in front of him and raised his foot and slamming it down and pinning him underneath his weight, knocking the air out of his lungs. Removing the woman’s gag, her voice sounded parched like she hadn’t drank anything for a while.
“H-he never told me...when I-asked for more, h-he got v-very angry…” The woman forced out with a couple words in the middle were inaudible even for Bastian. Bastian took his foot off the man, quickly crawled away from Bastian, toward the other end of the wall, having a table lined with blades. The man was quickly lifted off the ground with both paws, slamming his head against the wall, knocking him unconscious. The necklace’s aura faded once again.
“My gratitude is toward my friend and it’s keeping you alive.” Bastian thought, removing the woman’s blindfold and restraints. She stood shaking, looking at Bastian who averted his eyes, then down at the motionless man upon the ground, rushing over and grabbing her clothes and coin purse lying nearby the fireplace. “Hurry and get out of here…”
“T-thank you.” She uttered running outside and past Elizabeth disappearing into the streets without another word. Bastian turned around hoping Elizabeth hadn’t witnessed what happened, him nearly losing control and acting violently again.
