Just letting you know that English isn't my first language. No need to shy away from big words, but if I need clarification on what something means I'll ask.

In cases like the last post may I just assume you take the call and move on with the post?

If you don't really want to play out the call then sure. Where then should I jump to for my next IC?

Meeting them in the morning for the job?

I want to play out the call, but can I assume you take the call and go ahead and show the job poster?

Could you post your character sheet with the characters? Saves me looking through my PMs

Ooohh I didn't think we'd really get into that war.

I think it's smart we establish some things about it, it will effect how the current conversation goes and how Pria looks at her parents so I think it's important enough.

I'm mostly wondering what the war was fought over. Was it a global war against fascists or something? Or was it an arguably useless one for resources that could have been handled in boardrooms? Also what sort of country did they leave from and what was the general view of war there? If they came from a very pro-war place it would make sense as to why her dad would want involvement despite what kind of battle it was. But if it was something like stopping horrible dictators or an evil group of some sort that is very different.

I hadn't really thought on what that war was about. I was just gonna suggest that Pria's dad left to fight the war because he chose adventure over family, Or with slightly sweeter words, that he needed a break to find himself again, a 'recharge' if you will, or one last adventure. If you want we can explore the war. Does it involve one planet or more? Wars usually start small, with an uprising and escalate from there.

I suppose I was more looking for importance you know. It seems like her dad was generally a good guy, so let's say he was fighting for the "good" side. Maybe there was some dispute on rights of a newly discovered sapient race? It's a multi planet way happening off in one quadrant. He thought it was the right thing to do but it was also just an excuse for him to have "fun". Does that sound good?

Sure it can be both. Fighting for the freedom of a repressed people so his daughter can grow up without fear. Perhaps the planet was still on the outskirts of the warzone when Pria was born, but uprising began among factions of their world and her dad wanted to prevent their planet to be involved?

Well the way other countries usually get involved in war is they are urged to, are invaded, or have their own political reasons. Or they are allies with one of the nations in a war. So there could be any reason as to why the planet is entering the war. Maybe it isn't even supposed to for a while and he ships out to fight in space, then the war ends up there anyways. It would mean he left way before he "needed" to or was personally involved, Pria and her mom could still have reason to flee, and it wouldn't make him a horrible blood-thirsty sort of character.

That could be possible. As for a reasom, perhaps his family lives on the planet where the war was at that moment. He could have moved away to be with Pria's mom, but feel the need to try and protect his family back home.

Hmmm. That makes him a little too sympathetic don' you think? Would Pria's mom still say what she did in that case? It would seem she's pretty obviously in the wrong in that case. I know she's not my character but I wasn't seeing her as the kind of person who would be angry with her husband for going to defend his family lol

Your idea of him using it as a new adventure was good I think.

Well, if she didm't very much like her family in law, momcould be angry about him leaving. If she feels that Pria and herself should have had priority as his new family she could be angry. If she wants to stop Pria from going and she's despetate to do so she could pretend to be angry at him (emotional blackmail happens very often in these cases sadly), although I didn't picture her as doing that to that extreme from your description. I figured she would try a little, though. If Pria is all she has, it's natural to try and make her feel bad for leaving. Most of the time that kind of behaviour is done unconciously.

I was personally going for them getting pregnant not being planned and while her dad tried to do the right thing, he just found it too hard to have to settle down and lose his freedom like that. Whatever reason he would have to go off fighting a war, her mom saw it as an excuse to get away from a life he felt he was too young to have. In that case any excuse could do.

That's fair! I didn't think on her that deeply.

I'm glad we talked about this cause it gives good perspective on Pria's family and home life. Whichever way you want to play it you from these options I am open to go with them.

Let me explain the guild system to you. A cargoship captain who wants to be taken seriously should be part of the guild system. This will show the quest posters that you are serious about your job and it will open up higher jobs, with higher pay and respectability. You will have your insurances in place and the guild will help settle any dispute between a job poster and a job taker. Also, you get a discount on ship maintainence in most shipyards.

You can chose not to be part of a guild, but your quest choices will then be limited to crappy quests, the rare individual and bounty hunts. On the upside: there is no upside of operating outside the guild if you intend to be a law-abiding citizen.

Each guild quest will earn you guild points. Most quests will earn you around 100 points, though some special quests can earn you more. If you get caught breaking the law, if you are late on delivery or encounter other serious problems on a quest, you can, in addition to being fined, lose guild points, even be demoted.

There are five guild levels (though a sixth level is rumoured to exist)
Level 1: 0-200 guild points
Level 2: 200-1000 guild points
Level 3: 1000-5000 guild points
Level 4: 5000-25000 guild points
Level 5: >25000 guild points

Uncle Ben can explain how you become a member. You met Uncle ben while still travellingbbefore you settles on the current planet. He helped your mother out here and there, as she was a struggling single mother. Your mother kept in contact with him even after settling down
