I've decided that both girls will have their merits. One will not be decidedly "bad" and the other "good." However, the original premise still stands - one will be more useful in the long term, the other not so much. It'll be up to the hero to determine who that is.
Selecting a new batch of pics for the girls. They're super important for inspiration, as I can draw a lot of personality details from their appearance.
Still looking for an adequate picture of a silver-haired princess. Technically, I own one such picture (actually own, as in paid money for it), but it's a commissioned work for another character and I'm hesitant to use it.
Alrighty. I wouldn't use it if it's a totally different character and if it makes you that hesitant.
As for me, I'll go looking for a character pic. If it comes down to it, I could probably find an RPG on my computer of PS4 and craft a character like that.
All right, check it out. This piece was commissioned for the character I'd mentioned, but of all the pieces I have for her, I use this one the least, and thus have the least compunction against using it. Opinions?
Once upon a time, magical healing was seen as a cushy profession. Learn a simple stitching spell, patch people up, and let others do the heavy lifting. It was easy, safe, and rewarding. Then, during the Second Void War, Erudessa Durvain began to make her debut. Unlike any other healer before her, she'd learned the secrets of Resurrection.
This will require a little explanation. A human consists of three major parts: body, soul, and spirit. The soul is your essence, that which makes you you. It is your mind, your thoughts. The brain is the body's interface between body and soul. Your spirit anchors your soul to your body. Magic, by the way, is casting part of your spirit outside your body. Anyway, when the body's integrity falls below the threshold of viability (e.g. beheading), the spirit begins to detach from the body.
This takes about 7 seconds.
Erudessa Durvain had a theory that if bodily integrity could be restored and the spirit reattached, the individual would not die. This is all well and good except for one critical problem: healing mortal injuries normally takes hours or days, not seconds. But Erudessa was immortal, and she studied and practiced the healing arts until she could do it. When she tested her theory during the War, it worked exactly as predicted.
Years later, when she was able to settle down and return to normal life again, she started training other healers. Within a few decades, she was no longer the only person alive who could perform a resurrection. Durvain's healers quickly became renowned as the best in the world, bar none. Lesser healers either had to adapt or change professions. Erudessa Durvain took advantage of this opportunity to make a little money and started a university in her name.
To this day, Durvain University continues to uphold its reputation for excellence.
Unless Solomon intends to become an extremely hard-working, self-sacrificing young man and wise beyond his years in the span of a few months, wooing Erudessa is next to impossible. She's not one of the select two girls unless you can present a solid case for why she needs to come with you on your journey.
Also finally settled on a great picture for the princess. Screw the white hair - this one just looks like her, and I can't stop imagining her looking like this.
Oh and I don't know about that Snow White anime at all.
Good, that means I can use the main character's picture. xD
Seriously though, you need to watch that anime. It's hands-down one of the most satisfying romance animes (or any romance) I've seen in years. It's clean and sweet, the couple is cute together, and they actually get together. It's amazing. There are only a couple other animes on the market that come close, "From Me To You" and "Ah My Goddess."
There are two kingdoms currently at war: Dragan, the southern kingdom, and Fellmore, the northern kingdom. The war started when the combined armies of men and orcs marched on Dragan to seize land, food, and slaves. Some have speculated that the Fellmorans were driven by drought and desperation, while others place the blame on their new queen, Lady Madeline Grey, whose radical counter-racism has whipped the orcs into a frenzy. Whatever their reasons, the Draganites have found themselves hard-pressed for trained soldiers to fight in the war.
Dragan is ruled by King Jacuras Brinhildr, bastard son of Alexander Dragan. How he got the throne...is a long story, starting at the end of the First Void War. He has only one child so far, a daughter named Amalthea. The kingdom is reasonably well-run, though technology is lacking in suburban areas. More troubling is the tactical incomptence displayed by commanders at the highest level. Fellmoran commanders aren't much better, but they have a rising star in a rogue Draganite called Fairmont. If Fairmont gets promoted, things could get very difficult for the Draganites.
I find it awesome you have this much attention to detail lore-wise. Nice job with all of that. Reminds me that I need to get more into the lore of the things I am thinking up... and that I actually need to write them out instead of keeping them trapped in my head.
Should I post little tidbits of lore about Solomon or should I leave the lore to you?
You may consider yourself co-GM. You can post whatever lore you want. You can even mess with the lore if you want, and I'll adapt to it as best I can. And, of course, if you choose not to do any GM-type stuff at all, don't worry; I got this. I often find, though, that roleplaying even as a non-GM is easier if I have some GM powers (like NPC creation). Do what you wanna do! ;)
I'd still love to see a picture of Solomon. Oh! Speaking of which, can I give him the surname Trent? Solomom Trent is a minor recurring character in my stories, and it would be SUPER cool for him to appear in canon lore for this world.
Also I cannot agree with myself over a picture of Solomon. I may just use fanart of Edward Kenway of Assassin's Creed for since that is how I picture him, but younger. Or I could use a game like Fallout 4 to make the face, which might feel off since it will be a 3d model wearing clothing from the 50s...
Btw, the princess didn't stand up - she sat up. She was previously slouching. :P
Let me help with the pic search. What attributes are you looking for? Expression/attitude/spirit of the art? Is visual appearance important? If so, which aspects? Hair, eyes, skin, facial features, clothing?
