Faction Structure: The Fire Nation has traditionally been of rigid hierarchy. At the top, the Fire Lord and the Royal family, directly below them the provincial magistrates and colonial governors. Below them in the Fire Islands the civilian government is centered around regional provinces and thence to mayors of towns/villages. The Colonies under the Colonial Governors who may or may not be also part of the military oversee either regional commanders or civilian magistrates.
Population/Membership: Total Fire Nation population is approx. 100 Million ( additional 60 million in colonial/occupied territory)
Military Strength/Armed Population: circa 6 million.
Military Information: The Fire Nation military, while numerically smaller than the Earth Kingdom, is the worlds only fully professional military force, and largely made up of volunteers (though conscription can occur in times of emergency). It also benefits from the Fire Nation's greater industrial base. Its corps of non-benders and bending troops supplemented by the worlds largest Navy and mechanized formations. Its infantry primarily wear either light or heavy body armor made up of plates riveted or tied together with leather straps. Covering the torso, shoulders, upper arms, thighs, shins, and calves with fore arm guards. Non-benders typically wear conical style helmets with a heavy cloth neck guard. Firebending troops typically were a more enclosing helm with a skull face plate and fire fluting on the face. As for weapons, it depends on the formation, but the basic arms are a shield, sword, and spear.
The Fire Nation military is hierarchical in nature. The Fire Lord and Royal family on top, followed by the War Council made up of the nation's High Generals and Grand Admirals, which is never more than twelve at a time. Below them are the Generals and Admirals of the Fire Nation. These are followed by Colonels in the Army and Commanders in the Navy. Below them are Captains in the Army and Navy. In the Army, Captains, typically command up to Regiments/Brigades while in the Navy they command a single vessel. Below them both branches share the rank of Lieutenant, though with different roles; Army Lieutenants can lead companies or even battalions into battle; The Navy Lieutenants tend to oversee important functions on the ship or oversee amphibious assaults when army troops are not present. Lieutenants are thence backed up by Sergeants and Corporals. In the Navy Lieutenants are backed up by Ensigns. Finally the lowest rank is that of private.
Economy Information: The Fire Nation economy is by far the most industrialized by a significant margin. Allowing the Fire Nation, despite being a little more than a tenth of the Earth Kingdom in population, to hold its own on multiple fronts. Its primary industries are metallurgy, coal production, and weapons manufacture. Agriculture is still present, especially in the colonies where it is the primary sector of the economy, and as such a two way trade system exists. The colonies sending foodstuff and raw material to the Fire Nation in exchange for manufactured goods.

Geographically, the nation is located along the planet's equator in the western hemisphere and is composed of several islands. Its capital is simply known as the Fire Nation Capital. The Fire Nation is the second-largest nation in terms of area, following the Earth Kingdom, while its economy is the most powerful in the world; its strong industrial sector and extensive technological developments not only enabled the Fire Nation to create an extremely powerful military.
The Fire Nation has existed for centuries and was primarily a peaceful nation before the ascension of Sozin. Whom, seeing the prosperity of his realm as the Earth Kingdom declined after the War of Chin the Conqueror, sought to remake the world in what he deemed to be a better image. That of a Fire Nation dominating the globe. As such the Fire Nation for the last One Hundred Year's has waged war against the other nations. Conquering swathes of the Earth Kingdom and establishing numerous colonies. Devastating the Southern Water Tribe and committing genocide on the Air Nomads.

Background: Azula. born 81AG, is the daughter of Fire Lord Ozai and Ursa, the younger sister of Zuko, and niece of Iroh. Azula grew up, naturally, in a place of privilege and wealth. Despite for her caring little for the latter. Azula from a very young age showed a prodigious mastery of firebending. Learning faster than her older brother, but lacking the tutelage of Iroh, became more like her father Ozai. As such Azula firmly believes in the autocratic nature of the Fire Nation's traditional establishment. Believing that it is her nation's destiny to dominate the world. As such she worshipped her father, while having a strained relationship with her mother whom she believed hated her, and as such has trouble with any maternal figure.
Azula grew up surrounded by the military. Observing from a young age her grandfather's and father's conquests. Visiting the colonies and learning military tactics. Of which she showed a particularly astute mind for, if she lacked in eagerness for the tedious tasks of administration, something she preferred to leave to others. But despite all of her own skill and competence her place in the world was pre-determined at birth. Zuko was the Crown Prince and heir incumbent. She was more than likely going to be married off to secure a political advantage for the Royal Family. That was until the death of her father occurred. Her mother and later brother having already been banished. As such she found herself the Crown Princess and heir presumptive. Yet, given the untimely demise of her father, and the establishment of the Interregnum Government under Iroh's junta. She has yet to ascend the throne. The lack of a written will by her father further throwing the succession into confusion.
Azula presently finds herself as the head for the Absolutist Faction in the Fire Nation. Royalists who believe in the preservation of the Fire Lord's supreme authority and the continuing of the war effort to conquer the Earth Kingdom in its entirety.
