Cadia has Fallen
Abaddon the Despoiler has finally accomplished what was thought impossible by the Imperium of Man, his 13th Black Crusade ruining the planet and collapsing the Cadian Gate, the Eye of Terror expanding unchecked now. Forces of the Ruinous Powers assaulted and spread throughout the Imperium, split in half by the Cicatrix Maledictum, the Great Rift, spanning from the Eye of Terror all the way to the Hadex Anomaly in the Eastern Fringes. Besides Abbadon's personal forces, countless warbands, pirates, and traitors have risen up to take advantage of the ensuing Chaos and inability for almost half the Imperium to be supported. One such place that fell on the Dark side of the Great Rift was the Calixis Sector, a place of longtime interest for both Inquisitorial, Chaotic, and even neutral parties. With the opening of the Great Rift, all eyes in the Sector turned skyward, even the ominous Rift across the sky was blotted out by something long feared by the Imperium.
The Propheticum Hereticus Tenebrae spoke of these events, in the most vague terms, heralded by what most people consider the Tyrant Star, or Komus. Reports from dozens of star systems, and everything from massive Hiveworlds to almost completely isolated trade posts are sending panicked messages of a massive 'Black Sun' eclipsing the natural star of the system. These eclipses would last for weeks at a time, resistant to any scans or attempts to banish the unholy omens hovering in the sky, casting a pale, unnatural light on all planets beneath its baleful gaze. The Imperial forces present are scrambling, from Inquisitorial forces and task forces racing around from sighting to sighting, assisting local forces in controlling the rise in riots, cults, and securing the borders against agitated Xenos presences also making themselves known.
However, other forces are attracted, Chaos warbands coming in to pillage and loot while cults and heretics rise up from the slums and the downtrodden. Most are simply looking to profit and bringing ruin wherever they go, however some have grander plans, the Tyrant Star being an ill omen for the Imperium. These bands of seekers of forbidden lore and knowledge race the Inquisition, with the same goal in mind. To learn the truth behind the Tyrant Star and either stop it, or harness it for personal glory. One such Warlord has begun rallying forces to his banner, whether they are individual forces of power or leading their own troops, with one end goal in mind. Harness the Tyrant Star to his own will, amplifying his already extremely potent psionic abilities to a degree unseen in realspace.
So, long story short, things are taking place just after the Fall of Cadia, the formation of the Great Rift causing a massive amount of strife, trouble, and general shenanigans all across Imperial space. The Tyrant Star is appearing to a degree that had not been seen in recorded history, sending certain Warlords and the Inquisition scrambling. One such Warlord, a psyker of a notable degree of power, has found rumors of being able to channel the power of the Tyrant Star and has decided to pursue such things. That means he needs allies, and troops, and that's where any interested parties come in. Either as individual specialists or leading their own bands of soldiers, mercenaries, heretics, and other useful bodies. Whether they fight for Glory, for Money, or just for the sake of fighting, they would find all of this and more promised to them in this endeavor.
The overarching focus of the story is the aforementioned Tyrant Star and the effects it is having on the Calixis Sector. Depending on the interested party, and their characters, would affect the pacing and focus. Combat will be a thing, obviously, but the amount of intrigue and downtime for character development I'm leaving to the preferences of any party involved. The major driving forces comes from characters, hence them likely being already established, potent figures in their own rights. Whether they choose to lead their own bands or not, is really up to them.
So, any interest in this at all?
