If you've ever seen any movie/game/series where the world is desolate and everyone is dead, then you're halfway to what this RP is about. This is set a few centuries after the end, where society has somewhat bounced back, and things are functioning again, to some degree. Almost nothing resembles the old world, but the mail works, kids go to school, and you do not have to worry about roving gangs of bandits on motorcycles. At least not on a day to day basis. In other words, things are relatively fine, at least for a substantial amount of people.

That said, everything is layered in dust and rust, and there are plenty of ruins and bombed out cities, and buildings covered in vegetation, to the point where a great deal of land is still far from recovery. That doesn't stop people from living there however, and cities built literally on the ruins of other cities are not uncommon. Other tracts of land are covered in chemical spills, baked in radiation, patrolled by killer robots, occupied by sentient fungi, claimed by zombies, or trapped in a temporal flux, rendering them fully uninhabitable for the time being. For most people anyways.

So apparently life in a world which is trying to kill all humans is very hard. Which is why humanity evolved superpowers. Several centuries of living in a radioactive hellhole has caused most survivors to develop superhuman abilities. Those who didn't and managed to survive anyways, have at least become skilled enough at surviving that they still count as superhuman. Bullet-dodging, walk-on-walls levels of superhuman. To keep up with the people who shoot fire from their hands and lasers from their eyes.

To recap: Civilization is no longer in any danger of going extinct, but the world is still pretty screwed up. On the other hand, most people are badass enough to deal with it. Its a fairly tongue-in-cheek setting, not entirely serious, where pretty much anything goes as long as its cool. I've got some plot hooks planned, but nothing to stop people from just doing their own thing.

So, anyone interested?

Sounds kinda interesting, but I also worry that with powers left unchecked like that, everyone could get waaay OP. I'll keep an eye on this; what level were you thinking? Free/Casual/Advanced?

Mmm, sounds tasty. Though i would usualy preffer to have a bit more of a wild postapocalyptic setting, this also looks pretty interesting. As long as we get some tension within the plot, im more that happy to participate - so, if this is going to be a free roleplay, or casual with low to average standarts, count me interested.

Well, mostly Casual standards, really. I'm not going to force anyone to write paragraphs upon paragraphs, but I also really dislike one-liners and posts that lack in substance. As long as you're descriptive enough that everyone else can figure out what you're doing, and actually doing something plot-wise, you can be as short or long as you want.

As far as powerlevels go, there's no real limit to what you can have as long as your character remains interesting. Because setting a strict limit on a setting that thrives on being over-the-top like this just seems wrong. I guess you could say your powers scale in relation to character development, and as long as these powers don't make things boring, then you may have them.

Of course, I'll rule out anything that seems too godmodder-ish (like immunity to evertying[sic]), unless you really convince me. If someone ends up godmodding anyways, then measures will be taken, ranging from a stern warning to retroactively pretending he never existed. I hope it doesn't actually have to go that far, and trust you guys to use your better judgement to keep things fun. Because an awfully dangerous world, is no fun if it's not actually dangerous.

Does that make sense?

In my opinion, once you've been RPing long enough you get a feel for what you should and shouldn't do. I find most people are actually responsible about this. Anyways, I'm actually really interested in this. You can count me in as long as you don't mind my inconsistency with logging on.

Indeed, but it's probably worth stating just to make things clear, and avoid any possible confusion.

I suppose I'll count you in, then.

So what would safe powers be? Super strength, speed and the like? How about a form of echolocation? Useful to a scout of scavenger. Limited hazardous materials and radiation absorbtion? Useful for a scout going into some of the irradiated areas or toxic zones. I'm just trying to build an idea of what could be safe. As I'm trying to think up a character idea.

Wait- that powers thing could be interesting for some OP stuff that happens at inappropriate times. Like say, if my character has the power of blowing up anything but it has a two hour wait time and whatever you were pointing at is translate as you pointing to wherever you are after the two hours are up (You attempt to blow up a rock but get bored and go home so the wall that also points North like the rock is destroyed when the explosion time happens.)

All of those are pretty good, actually. In fact, you're in the clear any time you aren't clearly trying to make a character that roflstomps everything. If you're really worried about making something OP, just run it past me via PM. If it actually would be boring, there likely something be something we can do to change that. c:

YES, that'd sort of thing would definitely be common, and is absolutely encouraged, because it can lead to interesting situations and some very creative problem-solving later on. Say, if you were able to predict where you were going to be in two hours, you could point well in advance, and be able to blow up what you actually needed gone. Because of the precision required to pull it off, however, it could get very difficult for certain targets.

Now, given the rather decent amount of interest that I see, expect to see an OOC thread sometime within the next few days, either on saturday or sunday. Also, I try to answer all your questions as soon as I can, but may be delayed by some problems I've been having with my internet connection lately, so sorry about that.
