Can a blacksmith be an adept warrior as well? It only makes sense thaat he knows how to defend himself

Yes, but don't make him equally skilled in both. He'd be more skilled in one than another. Also keep in mind that he has to split his time between his smith work and practicing his combat skills.

Fair enough I don't plan on making him a master fighter just want to make sure he isn't defenseless if the situation calls for him to fight. He will be an amazing blacksmith but a manageable fighter. Sound right?

That's fine. Also keep in mind that "amazing" would be by goblin standards. Don't make it too sophisticated. Remember, they live in straw huts and are comparable to early iron age people.
