Detail question: what's the lighting condition like in the hallway? How (well) would we see the creature? Is there emergency lighting at least or is it pitch black, or just ambient light from a window?

Also, roughly how far away is it from our door, and is it blocking the only way out?

@AshganModest street lights from outside. The candles still lit inside the space where the therapy 'session' was. Cellphone lights. Other than that, there is no electricity in this particular building. You'd definitely see the creature, movement and silhouettes, but maybe not details of the flesh, eyes, or possible hair. And of course, you can hear it.

The emergency exit is at the opposite side of the hall, so it is not blocking a way out. It's no more than fifteen meters away from where the characters would exit the therapy session room.

I guess Poet can give a definitive answer, but way I understand it, it's in a straight hallway, that our door is perpendicular to, and it's fifteen meters away from our door. That's not something you spot from inside the room unless you peek out.

I mean, I can adjust my post so that she's inside the entire time, but I'm having some line of sight issues here. :P

I'm wondering how strict you are on this. Clearly, the GM is in charge of the game world, as it were, but would it be allowed for a player to control a specific NPC they made up?

More to the point, the reason I'm asking is because I'm thinking that, if/when I write a scene where Trish is 'home', I'd like to write her friend who lives there as well because I have some very specific character dynamics in mind.

@AshganThe rule is for everything that I create. If you create your own NPC, then you control it. I should rephrase that rule. I'll look into doing that after work.

By the way things were going, I guessed most of our characters would mentally break after the first boss encounter.
