Hillview Highrise Apartments, Ema Street
The team of detectives emerged from the elevator donning body armour and an array of weapons ranging from pistols to shotguns. After months of investigating they were about to bust a dealer known as Rico. He was a well known scum bag around the city but the RPD had always had an issue nailing him down with any evidence, that was until a few of his runners came forward. What they had him for meant he would be locked up indefinitely with no chance of seeing daylight again. The six detectives approached Rico's apartment without saying a word, taking care to be as silent as possible. With the door in sight the sergeant leading the operation, Connor Sullivan, raised his hand for the team to stop. He approached it being careful to avoid being in view of the people, the last thing he wanted was for a hail of bullets to fly through the door. With a closed fist his struck his knuckles against the door, "Maintenance," he cried out. He could he some soft shuffling on the other side of the door along with some heavy crunching. He gestured over to the rest of the team to take positions either side of the door before trying one more time. "Maintenance! We are here to check your gas!" With no answer returned Connor gestured for the breach to begin.
From the back of the team came a man with a battering ram, his bulk made him the perfect operator of the crude device. With an almighty swing the door was flung open, left hanging freely from one hinge as the other erupted from the wall. With a dark, heavily curtained room in front of them the team quickly turned on their flashlights as they entered the apartment. The air was thick and stale leaving a disgusting after taste at the back of the throat. The sound of shuffling continued from a doorway to the left of where the team entered. Connor followed behind two of his colleagues who approached the doorway with caution. As the man at the front peered around the corner he froze for a moment, his face a picture of horror. He stepped away from the doorway with his forearm covering his mouth, the sound of wretching close behind. The second officer approached and stopped in the same way as the officer before him. "Holy shit..." he said as his jaw hung wide open. Sully moved up and looked into the room seeing Rico, but it was what he was doing that had caused the reactions.
The floor around him was caked with blood, the carpet stained crimson from a plethora of gore. In front of him rested a body being slowly picked apart by Rico. From what they could tell it was a young woman, presumably one of his working girls. Whatever she did for work she didn't deserve what befell her. Without wasting another second Connor raised his pistol, aiming it directly at Rico. "Rico get your hands in the air and turn around slowly." The man they had came for complied with the order to turn around slowly to reveal a face that was covered in blood. His wide open mouth gave view to chunks of flesh and strands of fabric stuck between his teeth. Connor fought back the rising bile in his throat and tried to keep focus on Rico.
"Approach us slowly and get those hands in the air!" The order echoed throughout the apartment as Rico began to rise to his feet. The slow, awkward motion was abnormal but given the situation the officers didn't make anything of it. As Rico approached slowly Connor caught sight of his eye, glazed over with a white haze they looked dead. Must be some new kind of drug, thought Connor. Whatever it was it was enough to cause Rico to tear a young woman to shreds and feast on whatever was left. From all their intelligence gathering though, everyone they had interviewed said Rico never took drugs. It made no sense.
With Rico only a few steps away things took a dark turn. The drug dealers arms raised up and he charged forward with a hurried lunge towards Connor. The police officer drew his arms in close to his chest and unloaded two rounds into the chest of the oncoming man. The bullets impacted square into the center of Rico's chest but it didn't even phase him. Connor side stepped out of the way of Rico unloading a further two rounds into his side. The bullets did nothing as Rico took hold of police officer who had been wretching earlier. Throwing his head forward Rico sunk his teeth deep into the forarm of the officer, before tearing away a large chunk of flesh. The officer cried out in pain and with the pistol in his free hand drove it into the chest of Rico, unloading a full clip into his torso. Blood and gore erupted from Rico's back as the bullets passed through but the dealer kept lunging forward for more bites. Connor dropped his shoulder and barged Rico off his colleague, sending him crashing to the floor.
"Rico stay down or I will put you down for good!" The dealer paid no attention to the instruction and began rising to his feet. Connor let out a frustrated sigh before lining the gun up with Rico's head. With one squeeze of the trigger the dealer dropped heavily to the floor in a crumpled heap. Connor cautiously approached to check Rico for any signs of life. With gun still aimed at him, Connor carefully checked his pulse to find nothing but cold, dead skin. Why is he so cold?
Turning back from the body he looked back at his colleague as the other officers attended to his wound. "Get Hicks into my car and I will take him to the hospital. You guys get the evidence and clean this mess up. I'll check back in a couple of hours." The orders were clear and within minutes Connor had Hicks in the back of his car heading towards Raccoon General Hospital.
