Do we get an tier list so to speak? Something to tell us how many points would equal to which bracket. 1-9 means low, 10-15 makes high and anything upwards means high?

Also do we just get to use as many points as possible? This setting totally makes for a good place without balance and I personally wouldn't mind that but some might ask for a given point distribution.

Maybe drawing lots or rolling some virtual die?

I was imagining independent. I chose the name as a tie in to Hulder though.

Alright.

"As a Hulder she has an endless hole in her back, surrounded by thick bark."

This seems like a 17 point effect (2,2,2,2,2,2,2,0,2,1), which is definitely high.

Woah, seriously? I guess I didn't really think into that part too much.

I didn't even count it as an effect. Idk if I should change things around then or not. I sort of want to play a non-human but I also want to keep relatively low on points...

Name: Gaul

Age: N/A

Species: Pallumbrae

Sex: N/A - typically assumes a male form

Appearance: Gaul has no true corporeal form, but, when seeking to observe, will generally take the form of a frail old man, ragged clothes hanging from a near skeletal frame. Thinning silver hair barely conceals a wrinkly pate, while an equally wizened and dry face peers ahead through milky eyes, lending the apparition an appearance of apparent blindness. Giant tombstone teeth gleam from a near constant, hungry grin, the thin lips threatening to split his face in twain. As the hunchbacked figure shuffles about, accompanied by a trusty cane, Gaul cuts a timid figure as he wanders.

When Gaul feels more meddlesome, he adopts the image of a virile, and dapper young man. Imposing in height and form, his ragged clothes become the finest of tailored suits, hair thickening and shifting to a dark black, as well as spreading across his face to give him a trim, full beard. Every inch of the Pallumbrae becomes well groomed to exacting detail, from his manicured nails, to perfectly arranged eyebrows. A charming smile is quick to come to his lips. Piercing blue eyes stare knowingly, twinkling with some grand secret or wonderful joke, accompanying the crooked grin.

Gaul's true form is most easily likened to that of a inky black cloud, able to expand and contort itself at will, in this form it is incapable of speech, and while it seems to posess hearing and sight, the mechanism of this is poorly understood, and inconsistent at best. In this form he is largely impervious to all manners of assault, being incorporeal, at the same time, it becomes nearly entirely impotent, being unable to directly interact with physical matter. For this reason, Gaul rarely utilizes this form unless travelling, or if he has no other choice.

Personality: Gaul is in many ways apathetic to the troubles of the world, being far too old to truly be concerned with the rise and fall of empires, or even entire species. He admits, howeve, that had he been capable at the time, the dinosaurs would have filled him with grief for perhaps a week. Despite this, he has managed to maintain somewhat of a zest for life. Quick to laugh, and quicker to mock, he has a bad habit of treating the problems of mortal beings as inconsequential. Taking that into account, Gaul is quick to help those he has deemed "friends" though he has developed a level of restraint insulting to many. As he explained to Brennus: "It is true, I can end this battle for you in a moment. What then, though?"

Curious to the core, Gaul loves to be surrounded by humans and cryptids. The natural world long ago ceased to provide any wonder for the Pallumbrae, having witnessed countless phenomena that would leave a human dumbfounded. The subtle intricacies and infinite variation in human interaction titillates and fills them with joy.

History: Gaul's history stretches back to time immemorial. The moment in history where it makes its most dramatic appearance, and earned the name by which it is known in the present, was during the sacking of Rome by Brennus the Gaul, after the battle of Allia.

On the surface, it appeared to be an ordinary case of barbarians at the gates. In reality, Brennus was an adept, initiated into the esoteric. As his forces drew upon Rome, seeking revenge against the three Fabia brothers, they were assaulted on all sides by demons and devils. The endless assaults sapped his men of their courage, and Brennus entreated with the spirits to discover how he could stop these attacks.

The spirits informed him that the Fabians had made their own deals, and that Rome was now firmly in the grasp of an evil cult.

As luck would have it, the Pallumbrae known as Gaul, nameless at that time, was nearby, anticipating the clash of the two armies. Brennus, well aware his forces could not possibly win against the combined might of Rome and her newfound otherworldly allies, also was aware of the potent power the Pallumbrae could unleash, should they wish it. Pleading with Gaul, Brennus tried desperately to convince the Pallumbrae to lend aid to his tribe.

It has been lost to history what he said to convince him, but that very day, as the battle began, Gaul swept forward. An unstoppable tide of shadows swept down from the Tiber, grasping tendrils of darkness tossing roman warriors into the air like rice at a wedding. The lesser entities aligned with Rome were snatched up and dragged into the black wall of darkness that flowed unceasingly towards Rome, consumed entirely, without a single trace of them remaining. As Gaul finally descended upon Rome, it began to cull those it found to have felt the touch of the Fabians and their cult.

After the 'battle' drew to an end, and the remaining Romans began to gather gold for the ransom of the city, an old man sat nearby, tombstone teeth grinning mercilessly as he watched as the gold was weighed. When the Romans made their cry that the scales were unbalanced, a cloud overhead happened drifted in front of the sun, casting the entire city into shadow. A deathly quiet spread among the Romans as Brennus removed his sword, adding it to the scale's weights, with the infamous statement, "Woe to the conquered." The old man's grin widened.

Since then, Gaul has made numerous appearances throughout history, generally in times of war. Though never with as audacious a display as the Battle of Allia. He has most recently taken up residence in the continental US.

Other:
Note 1: Pallumbrae have existed long before the first human, interrogation reveals before even the earliest of mammals scurried beneath the feet of dinosaurs. For an eternity, the Pallumbrae were one, thoughtlessly observing. Countless aeon passed this way, with Pallumbrae merely existing.

With the rise of humanity, Pallumbrae was stirred from it's passive observations by this peculiarity. This peculiarity brought with it something new: An original idea. Speech. Pallumbrae learned this 'speech' and used it to come to know a tribe of humans. Aided by it's new friends, the humans, Pallumbrae came to learn even more. Emotions. Loss and Gain. Greed. Pride. Pleasure, and pain.

The tribe and Pallumbrae existed like this for generation after generation. In many ways, the tribe treated it as a god, and in return, Pallumbrae protected them, even as it learned from them the way a child would, and slowly it began to develop an ego, or a self.

This state of affairs would have continued to the end of time, were it not for a chance discovery. Fire. As one human learned to control fire, and he showed it to his tribe, Pallumbrae drew closer seeking to understand this new truth, despite the unease it felt at the angry light. Seeking to aid it in its enlightenment, the fire wielder retrieved a flaming brand from the blaze he had began to warm the tribe. Naivety drove him onward, despite the hesitant withdrawal of the entity, and he plunged the torch into Pallumbrae.

At that moment, Pallumbrae was split, a horrifying shrieking wind rising up as it was torn into pieces by the light, piece's fleeing in every direction to escape that most exquisite pain.

There is some debate that the lost continent of Atlantis was infact that tribe, many years after the splitting of Pallumbrae. Those who propose this theory say that the sinking of Atlantis was the work of all fragments of the Pallumbrae coming together to wreak their revenge upon the descendants of the one who hurt them so. Little to no evidence has been brought forward for this hypothesis. Opponents of the theory argue that the Pallumbrae hardly seem unified, and historically have even been found to directly oppose each other at times.

Note 2: Do to the obvious danger posed by entities capable of potentially exterminating an entire city, ΨФΔ has made it clear that all Pallumbrae must be identified, captured and contained. While their aggressive efforts have led to numerous succesful captures, the remaining Pallumbrae have recognized these efforts, relying on more and more shrewd manipulations of their forms to elude and deceive these efforts.

Traits/abilities:

True-form: Anima (18x) - An incorporeal form generating a transethereal effect. (See: Appearance for a description of physical properties)

Gadget: None (2)
Intensity: Minor (2)
Method: Simple (2)
Onset: Long (2)
Range: Personal (0)
Situation: Any (2)
Target: N/A (x)

Shapeshift: Vir I (11) - Gaul coalesces his ethereal form, taking on the form of a human. In this variation, it is almost entirely identical to an ordinary Human, it eats and sleeps, feels hunger etc. Superficial injuries will even make it bleed. Serious injuries will cause his essence to begin to dissipate, causing him to expend energy maintaining his form until he can either repair his damage, or be forced to revert to his true form.

Casting: Instant (1)

Gadget: None (2)
Intensity: Minor (0)
Method: Simple (1)
Onset: Long (0)
Range: Personal (0)
Situation: Any (2)
Target: Medium (1)

Shapeshift: Vir II (13) - An enhanced form of Vir that Gaul developed as humanity progressed, necessitating more clandestine methods than Pallditi allowed when he found himself meddling. In this form, his physical attributes are all heightened compared to that of a regular human, as well as being able to manipulate his limbs into the grasping tendrils he would use as Vae. However the more he manipulates his form, the faster he will deplete himself, necessitating a return to his true form. Gaul must assume Vir I to utilize Vir II. His features will change as well, skin becoming ashen white, while his eyes become solid black orbs.

Method: Simple (1)
Onset: Instant (2)
Range: Ranged (2)
Situation: Any (2)
Target: Medium (1)

Shapeshift: Pallditi (13) - Gaul's first physical form, a monstrous and crude imitation of humanity. While capable of speech, this form is ill suited for it. Pallditi possesses enormous strength, speed, and durability, with razor claws capable of shredding through mild steel, and the ability to regenerate lost limbs in moments. He has had less and less reason to use this form, finding it too conspicuous.

Vae (15) - The form Gaul took during the Battle of Allia, and one common to all Pallumbrae. It is believed this is a mimicry of their form before they were fragmented. Little is understood of this form beyond its appearance, and the result that follow its unveiling. Anything dragged inside the nebulous fog appears to be consumed entirely. When a Pallumbrae assumes this form, it appears to lose cognitive function, instead operating to fulfill a sole objective with mindless determination. Vae requires enormous amounts of energy, only being able to be maintained for a few minutes to at most an hour. After which the Pallumbrae will revert to its true form, incapacitated for a time as it regains its energy. ΨФΔ reports that in the event of a Vae event, they are prepared to capture and contain the offending Pallumbrae.

Btw when you say go nuts, if I tied Gaul to the battle of Allia, (essentially making it the sole opposing force to the romans (or perhaps a sort of spiritual leader/deciding factor) would that be going too far?

Highdy-ho.

Just stopping by to stay I'm still joining and all that. Might completely make a new character to replace my Hulder. I just finished a long CS from another RP so I'm a little burnt out. Didn't want to disappear on you is all though.
