@Bee The arrangement is good. Her vocals and raps(?) were also good. The song as a whole has a nice, chill vibe to it. I could see myself listening to this a few more times and not getting tired of it. That alone says a lot about how good of a song it is. And with that being said, I'd rate it a solid 8/10.

New Death Cab song. Figured this is the best place of any to share.

@Altered Tundra Originally, I wasn't really digging it, but I liked the song more and more as it went on. I found the lyrics very relatable, and the video helped me append more meaning to it. I really liked that part, but I found the instrumentals very overwhelming, and the way they were mixed made it sound really flat. I think this song would have benefited from a more solemn approach to it than that mishmash of sounds and distortion effects, not to mention how much they drowned out the vocals. I almost couldn't understand what he was saying, and really, the instrumentals in general dragged the whole thing down in my opinion, but I'll take it for what it is. 6.8/10 (with the stipulation that better instrumentals would have brought it up a whole point).

I happened across this song while perusing the Night in the Woods subreddit (fantastic fucking game, by the way), and this song not only captures the feel of the game pretty well, but is also animated by the lead artist for the game. If you know the game I'm talking about, you'll immediately recognize the art style.

@TheMadAsshatter 8/10 Enjoyed the song (and video) as much as the first time I heard of it. :3 (I think I enjoy the Streetlight Manifesto version of this song just a bit more.)

And now I have to share my discovery. I'm not much of a post-music listener. But four songs into this band, and I think I found another niche to sink my teeth into. They've all been a little repetitious. (Not in a way to ruin the tracks for me.) But if even hearing the word "experimental" interests you, and this album art immediately intrigues you. You just might enjoy it too. (and if I'm lucky there's over 13 albums with music on par with this.)

A'ight, it's fucking bullshit that this thread doesn't get more recognition. As an audiophile, I am offended. I waited three weeks for someone else to respond, but no!

Right, anyways, rant over.

There was one persistent annoyance I had, and that's mostly with the singer's voice. It just felt really raspy and strained in relation to the song. I think it should have been sung in a softer way, but whatever, it's entirely possible that the singer just smokes two packs of cigarettes a day or something, and I'm not here to judge. The song itself was pretty cool. Kind of an alt-folk-indie feel to it. I did find it a bit difficult to extract meaning from the lyrics; they sounded very abstract. Not that there's a problem with that, but it feels like it's trying to be more profound than it sounds. That or it's over my head. Solid and well put together, but falls a bit flat of it's potential, in my opinion. 6.6/10.

@TheMadAsshatter I concur.

Another band I need to listen to more of their discography. I was wavering between 7-8 for this one, between solid and pretty good. The instruments during and after the start of the solo certainly picked up the song. Not sure if the album is better as a whole, the filler bit at the end wasn't interesting, and the lyrics same a little vague. (So they either non-importance, or seem not specific enough for a concept album.)

I'll meet in the middle. 7.5

@SleepingSilence I wasn't expecting this song to be as long as it was. Honestly, around the halfway point, I found myself wanting to close the tab, but I did the courteous thing and listened to the entire thing. With that being said, I just didn't fancy it like I have your other suggestions. 5/10

These Walls is still one of Dream Theater's better songs from Octavarium (and maybe their discography). Though Panic Attack is still better as far as I am concerned.

@Altered Tundra Bummer. But I didn't really get into Steve Wilson upon my first listen either, took a couple different songs. If you like Devin Townsend's poppier stuff with Ana, you may enjoy his track 'Pariah' a little more.

My only real critique is that I feel those synths in the chorus and mostly throughout the song didn't feel like they added anything to song. But instrumentally solid, as expected from Dream Theater. Lyrics were pretty simple. The flourish of strings at the end was a nice finishing touch. 7.5/10

I'd have waited longer, but nobody else comes here. :c

@Inkarnate

8/10 I enjoy my cheese. That was fun.

Ignoring that I posted this in off-topic before. Just because it's worth listening to for the instrumentals.

That was very enjoyable bluegrass. Reminds me of Old Crow Medicine Show and Yonder Mountain String Band. It was a little “busy” but otheriwse fairly solid. I would maybe listen to an entire album.

My favorite songs are the ones you get stuck in your head and can't get out for days. In fact, I love pasing on those songs so others can get the song stuck in THEIR heads.
