✧ Adventure Must Continue ✧

Final Chapter... then a new beginning...

Yggdrasil, a popular DMMO-RPG for many years in this broken world, is coming to it's end. You've all poured your time and soul into this game. After spending hours... days... weeks, months and years in this virtual reality that seems so real, you've all accomplished so much and built up legends. You've explored strange and fantastic places, fought and defeated all sorts of marvelous creatures and overwhelming opponents. You've made friends and enemies, some just acquaintances passing by and others life-long relationships. Adventures... glorious. So much for so many years. Surely such legacy of epic scale would be etched into this world for all eternity.

But that isn't so, for the end of nigh.

Final chapter of the story, ready to vanish into an oblivion. So much... void. Empty, ashes, as if everything that's been done has been for nothing. So much time and effort has been spent, not to mention the uncountable amount of real-life currency some have been pouring into this game. Real world is nothing short of a true dystopian society, there is no doubt regarding that. Beautiful nature only remains as photographs or video memories. Fresh and delicious groceries and green and healthy plants are all but gone, save for those remaining for the privileged few. Most of you have spent painful and tortured lives, toiling under the lashes of extreme capitalism where all respect for human nature had been replaced by profit margins to feed the powerful. But that's precisely why such virtual reality was so appealing. Freedom. A forged one that everyone knew was fake but freedom nonetheless.

Welcome... to the end.

Welcome to "Adventure Must Continue", RP inspired by popular light novel series and anime "Overlord". This RP will NOT be featuring any characters or setting material directly from Overlord, rather only the premise will be borrowed for our own purposes. We'll each create 1 Player character who all belong to the same Guild. All the Player characters would have been friends and Guildmates for many years now, enjoying Yggdrasil together. As our Player characters we'll build our Guild together, everything from the title of the Guild down to the last small detail of our Guild House. We'll have 1 Player character stay in-game through the ending of Yggdrasil server and have them teleport to Isekai (the other world) along with everything belonging to the Guild. From there on, we'll start our RP assuming the role of NPCs we've created.

✧ Game System ✧

Since the scale, details and exact nature of Yggdrasil from Overlord isn't known exactly (not to mention that is ludicrously detailed and broad - unnecessary for our RPing experience here) we'll adopting a fantasy RP system that I've developed and been running here on this site. For anyone wishing to check out the system in more detail than necessary for this RP, link will be below:

Since we'll be RPing in the Isekai (other world) where it won't be Yggdrasil in-game, I'll forgo much of the details regarding the actual gameplay mechanics. However since we'll be designing Player and NPCs, we'll need to know the basics of the system.

All stat will be represented by the following scale. An average, normal human being would fit around on "D" rank for all Attributes. Same scale will apply to Skills. Last rank, X-rank, is a special rank indicating that the individual belongs to the top 20 individuals who possess that Attribute or Skill in Yggdrasil.

F -> E -> D -> C -> B -> A -> AA -> AAA -> S -> SS -> SSS -> X

✧ Characters ✧

✧ Players ✧

With dozens of different Classes, Subclasses, Skills and even Species to choose from Players of Yggdrasil had a great amount of elements to choose from. At the height of its popularity, Yggdrasil was a competitive and active community, making a lot of players spend real cash and spend countless hours grinding. The PvP scene was detailed and well-established, with numerous strategies and tactics being employed by hundreds of Guilds and players vying for control and power. However, there were those who chose to play Yggdrasil for other elements. With so much design elements that could be controlled and much materials to work with, some Players found joy in constructing, building and decorating crafts and locations of their own construction.

✧ NPCs ✧

While they were no more than programmable automatons within a gaming program with no real intelligence or sentience, once in Isekai, they gained consciousness, personalities and... life. All NPCs are absolutely loyal to the Guild and Players. They regard the Players of the Guild that they belong to as literal Gods to fanatically worship and find greatest purpose and joy in serving the Players. They cannot be threatened, bullied, bribed, or otherwise convinced to betray the Guild and would find it most shameful to do so. There are primarily 2 types of NPCs; custom made and in-game.

In-game NPCs are NPCs that are innately built into the game. They may have been captured, summoned, hired or bought into the Guild for different purposes. Overall, their personalities and tendencies are pre-set according to the game itself. Among the NPCs, they are considered lower ranking regardless of their level and purpose within the Guild.

Custom Made NPCs are NPCs that have been designed and built by Players. Everything from their appearances to abilities are determined by a Player creator. While custom NPCs are loyal to the Guild as a whole, they tend to show even more fanatic loyalty towards their direct creators. If ordered to do so by their creators, custom NPCs will not hesitate to attack the other members of the same Guild. Since they have been personally created by Players, among the NPCs they are considered to be of the highest rank. Custom NPCs' personalities and are largely determined by 3 separate factors: background, karma, and creator's personality. Background is the script written by the creator of the NPC that outlines their history, personality and abilities. Karma determines the general tendency of the NPC, whether they are Good or Evil on a general scale. For any other parts of the NPC that isn't specified by background or Karma, it tends to follow the creator's own personality.

Just a few notes regarding character design...

  • Consult GM if you need to. Ask GM with anything and everything you need, rather than just assume. GM's word is law. But GM is happy to discuss and share thoughts with you.
  • When creating your Player character, remember that your Player may be the one transported to isekai. Make them interesting, make them someone who can lead an epic tale rather than squander the opportunity and rot. Due to how the RP is set up, a HUGE chunk of the story depends entirely on that one Player. If you know that you don't have the ability to lead such a large scale operation, let the GM know.
  • Just remember that its your Player character, not "you" who is creating the NPCs.

    1. We'll have to be relative about balance since it's not a number-rolling tabletop rpg. Just remember, powergamers aren't often appreciated and literally no one likes Mary Sues.
    2. Your characters aren't required to be Level 100. But if they are, Their "balanced" Attributes across the board would range right around S rank. One or two may be above S. 2-4 Skills on the S rank with 1 or so above S. Level 90s would be around AAA to AA. Use your own judgement for lower Levels.
    3. All your characters combined (Player + Custom NPCs) may have up to Level 300. Meaning, you can create 1 Level 100 Player and 2 Level 100 NPCs. This may be shared around between us. For instance, if Person 1 wishes to only create up to 200 Levels worth of stuff, they may "give" the extra 100 Levels to another person who wishes to create more materials.
    4. We'll give ourselves 1,000,000,000 currency to work with. Roughly it's enough for 10 Ultimate-Transcendent items and 2,000 Legendary items. But that's not all. Whatever we have leftover after character creation is what we get to work with when building our Guild House and Guild communal items, effects, generators, Guild Weapon (Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown). GM will be the judge of what can be bought for whatever currency is left.
    5. In-game NPCs may be hired using currency, as many as you would like. Level 100 in-game NPC will cost roughly 100,000,000. Level 90s will cost roughly 80,000,000.
    6. Be honest with yourself for estimating stats and currency expenditure. If you know you wanna equip your character with top-grade items, just make yourself spend more. For instance, average Legendary item may cost around 200,000 but if you know your Legendary item is above average, it's going to be more than that.
    7. One last thing... CASH ITEMS. Yes they are a thing. It all depends on how much of a wallet-warrior your player is. Just... don't go too crazy (unless your character's a hardcore wallet-warrior; something I'd rather not see overdone).

If you've read everything above and would like to join, send me (HueMan) a PM or post here in the OOC. Once approved, you can join our Discord and start working on a CS.

If you are confused, the simple premise of the story would be is we will design a Guild together after making a Player-character. We will design all aspects of it, anywhere from Guild Hall architecture to NPCs who inhabit it. Afterwards, we'll vote on 1 Player-character who will then be transported to Isekai along with the entire Guild.

Cathedral of the Damned

A few years after Yggdrasil servers opened, a small group of players had decided to form a Guild for themselves. None of them were necessarily looking for wealth and glory through competitiveness but rather, a place to roleplay freely and enjoy the vast, customizable content of Yggdrasil. The group continued to grow and myriad different personalities joined for varying reasons, one central theme was shared among all the members; the love for mystery and the unknown. The initial members were all fans of occult and horror movies; some were into movies, others into games... a few were into myths and legends while the rest were avid fans of the occult subculture.
However, Yggdrasil was not a game of peace and enjoyment. The group, known as 'Cathedral of the Damned', chose to form political alliances with larger Guilds, supplying them with items and information in exchange for protection and amnesty. While small in number, Cathedral of the Damned was not to be taken lightly, for its members all consisted of veteran Yggdrasil gamers who understood the game innately, as only ones so experienced ever could. In the shadows of larger, more combative Guilds, the Cathedral grew strong internally, storing valuable items, collecting information and training new members to all the nooks and crannies of Yggdrasil. All in the group believed that one day, the Cathedral would stand tall and proud, among the top Guilds of Yggdrasil.
Cathedral of the Damned was a unique Guild, more of a true roleplaying Guild rather than a competitive one. A lot of the members' builds and playstyles were never quite top meta, often focusing on the superficial aspects more so than practical. But the unique fighting style, combined with the weapon of fear that came along with the Guild's horror theme, Cathedral managed to stay alive against unfavorable odds; eventually amounting to having cult recognition within the Guild. Cathedral members could never claim to be the most powerful group in Yggdrasil but they were all mostly satisfied with being one of the most colorful Guilds to exist.

Rules of 'Cathedral of the Damned'

1. You must be max Level who's been gaming for 3 years minimum in Yggdrasil in order to join.
2. You must love mystery, horror, occult and the unknown.
3. All your items and currency are communal property of the 'Cathedral'. Private spending of this pool is allowed but must be held accountable for.
4. Style beats practicality.

No. OOC is still under work somewhat but in a nutshell, we'll be following the premise of Overlord; an entire game Guild + 1 Player gets transported to another world.

So you're basically transported into the game which is now your world, but it still works like a game?
