The floor creaked. A single strained sound, simple yet so impacting. The groaning of long aged floorboards neglected of proper maintenance. The lone sound ricocheted from wall to wall, echoing in the decrepit old estate. The crying stopped instantly. The kneeling woman ceased in her weeping and slowly moved, lowering her hands from he face. She turned her head in slowly in Delilah's direction. Her long dark hair was tussled and spread over her face, concealing it in collusion with the dark shadows that surrounded them both. She made not a sound nor did she move aside from having lowered her hands and slowly and not staring into Delilah, her face shrouded in the blackness of mystery.

Delilah's eyes shot open in fear, and she froze in place. The sound of the floor creaking seeming to echo throughout the entirety of the house. Her eyes remained on the crying woman, who became silent as soon as she heard the creek from the floor. "Oh fuck," she thought to herself while she remained still as a statue. And then the woman began to move. She slow My lowered her hands away from her face and turned her head in Delilah's direction.

Her heart fell into her stomach and breath caught in her throat. What should she do? Should she run and try to get out of the house? Remain in place? Delilah swallowed hard and glanced to her right, then her left. She had no idea where the door was. Finally taking a deep breath, Delilah bolted to her right, desperately seeking for the door. There had to be one somewhere!

The front door was in fact to the right. It was a simple pinewood door with a rather rusty copper colored doorknob. Unfortunately the door itself was locked. Oddly enough, there was no latch, button lock, or chain on the door, despite being the inside of the door.

The weeping girl from the book room now stood behind Delilah, having followed her into the small entry hall. Her hair was parted from her face, and the small amount of light from above revealed a sight from a nightmare.

As she ran, her eyes frantically searched for a door. Any door. It wasn't long though, that she came upon one. Delilah tried to stop so suddenly, that she stumbled, but quickly caught herself. Her hands shot out and grabbed a hold of the doorknob. It wouldn't turn. What?! She tried over and over to turn the knob, but I wouldn't budge. It was as if the door was locked, but there was any sort of lock on this side. With a groan of frustration, Delilah pounded her fists against the door. She felt tears burn her eyes, but quickly blinked them back. Crying wouldn't help her right now.

And then, she suddenly froze, her eyes widening. She had the feeling that someone... or something, was behind her. She knew there was. Delilah took a deep breath and slowly began to turn her head, her body following when she could turn her head any further. A cry of fear erupted from Delilah snd she slammed her body back against the door. It was the same woman from earlier, only now, she could see her face. She cried out again, and did something unexpected. Delilah brought her leg up, planting her foot in the womans stomach, then kicked her away.

It wasn't very powerful, but it was enough to give her room to move away from the woman. And she took the opportunity without hesitation. Delilah bolted, running any and every which way, looking for any other doors or Windows.

The she-demon had merely shrugged off Delilah's feeble kick, though it had given Delilah time to distance herself of course.
The horrid creature turned and let out an ear-splitting screech, the piercing sound suddenly shattering the glass on the cabinets around the foyer and causing the candle chandelier to fall from it's hitch. It landed hard on the floor and broke apart, the candles rolled speedily across the tile floor. The banshee creature made a chilling growl, that of a great cat, from within the bowls of her throat and swept after Delilah.

There were only four present options to Delilah; the front door, which was locked queerly, the book room, a dead end, the door to the dining room, closed and untested, or back upstairs. The raging demon spared Delilah not a minute as she literally glided a foot off of the ground in the air, her clammy gray feet hanging limply from her ragged nightgown.
