Appearance: Mira was and still is a young woman of traditional beauty. She has rosy skin with a scattering of freckles across the center of her face. High cheekbones and a finely shaped nose and lips along with long flowing hair. Deep and striking eyes which seem to shift between green and blue never truly settling for either. She is petite and has a womanly figure.

Profession: Pearl Diver

Possessions:

• A small silver knife, made to open oysters and other kinds of shellfish.
• A silver comb of fine craftsmanship, decorated with swirling vines and flowers.

Skills/Magic/Talents:

-Longevity: Mermaids can’t die from old age and despite being changed into a human many years ago Mira retained her longevity.

-Swimming: Mira is a great swimmer, a remnant of her life spent in the ocean. Shortly after she became human she discovered her natural talent for swimming and diving. When searching for oysters she can hold her breath for multiple minutes using special techniques while also being able to withstand the low temperatures of the sea water.

-Singing: Another echo of her past life. Mira has a beautiful singing voice which she rarely uses. Only while she’s working she’ll sing to herself. The songs are often incredibly sad and filled with melancholy. There is something otherworldly about her voice that draws people in. If she wanted to she could probably provide for herself as a singer and make a decent living.

Demeanor: Mira is a very kind and gentle soul that wishes no harm to anyone, but there is a wistful sadness to her that often makes her seek out solitude. She’s been hurt deeply and hasn’t allowed herself to be very happy for much of her human life. She has a childlike curiosity about her which always makes her want to learn new things, yet there is a wisdom in her words of a life lived. She finds comfort in her work as a pearl diver and enjoys the quiet life in the coastal town she currently resides in.

History:
Mira’s life as a mermaid is a distant memory, a past life. Her new life began when she became human. Of this life she remembers everything very clearly, and its these memories she returns to every time. She is a woman of the past, who longs for what was. She became human to pursue love. But life as she had imagined it turned out very different. She currently resides in a small town near the coast trying to live her life in peace, struggling with her past and a longing for a life she’s all but forgotten.

Name: Ryland "Ry" Crawford
Species: Human
age: 24
appearance: A young man standing at about five feet and eight inches, Ry had the build of a man very much used to hauling around equipment and pulling on ropes all day long. His blonde hair and silvery blue eyes were those of his mother, while his careful face belonged to his father.

skills: Boat proficiency - While spending so much time on the Black Corsair, Ryland has a lot of knowledge about the boat and how to sail it, even if he never was the one at the wheel. Zooming back and fourth between areas help keep him intimately familiar with the ship.
personality: The young blood who can't catch a break. Though he's been with the crew since a boy, he's still a boy to them despite his attempts at proving that he can do more. His desire to do more and be more is welcomed at sea, and not even the storms themselves have washed away his sunny demeanor. He has to keep it up, lest he sinks in morale like the rest of the crew on their bad days.

Moderately athletic- lifting and moving things around on a constant basis keeps RYland fit for duty, even if he doesn't always want to be the one carrying the heavy things.

Artist- It doesn't show up as much now that he lives on a ship, but Ryland was quite the artist back when he lived with his parents. He's best with paint and ink, but has been known the pass the time on the ship by carving figures out of wood.

biography: Born in a southern England town, Ryland always had a need to do something, yet he could never place it. His poor family often resorted in working for some seedier people, including pirates. When Ryland's father had a loan that was far too much for anything other than his life, the pirates took Ryland in exchange for the man's life. It almost seemed unfair, but the boy was treated well enough. Food, a bed, and a job. He spent most of his life on the Black Corsair under the leadership of the Lancaster family, specifically Martin Lancaster, the previous captain, and his daughter and successor, Sidney.
