Seaside was like every small American port town. Industry was always focused on fishing and tourism during the summer months. For the locals living there full time, Seaside high was one of the highlights of the city. It was a large architectural homage to well-refined classrooms and labs, glass windows, brownstone walls and a football field large enough to hold the whole town. It was the highlight and pride of the community, producing intelligent youth that usually succeeded in the university fields. It was also the home to the Seaside Sharks, the main football team for the community. Events around town centered heavily on the football community, and it was known throughout town that supports from everyone was top priority. On the other side of town there resides, Rutledge high, mainly reserved for low-income families whose kids who didn't have the grades or couldn't afford to 'fit' into Seasides elite choosing process. Stevie was always reminded how lucky she was to make it into the program, especially because her parents were ranging on the low side of the social ladder. Mom and Pop ran the local garage, with her older brother, Elvis, who also helped work on the larger fishing lines. He moved out a year ago with his high school girlfriend Melanie, who is now two months pregnant but they always seem to find time to visit home often enough. Stevie's younger brother Freddie was just hitting thirteen and always made a habit of annoying Stevie on the daily. Today was no exception, with the little twerp, stealing her bike helmet and putting it on the American flagpole that happened to be just outside her white salt sprayed porch. Getting it down took her almost twenty minutes, and seeming as seaside was basically across town she ended up being five minutes later then the last bell.
She swore as she ran towards the school, her leather boots smacking the ground quickly as she ran up the steps to head towards class. She was about to head to class when suddenly the nasely voice of Miss Withers was behind her, "Stop right there. Miss Lawson. You are late again."
Stevie let out a breath, blowing out her brows, "Yeah I know, but my brother stole my bike helmet and..."
Miss Withers shook her head interrupting her, "No excuses. You know our policy. Come in here so I can write you a tartie slip. If this happens again, It's detention."
Stevie set her jaw following Miss Withers into the office, "Yes. Miss Withers."
She gripped her leather jacket and riding helmet in her hand, adjusting her backpack with the other as her thoughts moved towards beating the shit out of Freddie, I am going to kill that little shit! She walked up to the main desk, when Miss Withers pointed over to the chairs, "You can sit there, while I fill out your paperwork."
Stevie nodded before she walked over to a seat slumping down as she leaned her head back against the wall, "I should be in English right now...God...Minerva is probably freaking out, wondering where I am."
She pulled out her phone to see if she had a text. There was two from Minerva and one from Brice. Minerva was, like she thought, wondering where she was and letting her know that Mr. Paulson's toupee was way to pushed back today. Brice just asked where she was. She ignored Brice, but sent Minny a quick text, 'Brother made me late. In Jabba Da Hutz office. X.X'
Once sent, she lowered her phone down, picking at her hair when suddenly a dude she had never seen before entered the office. She couldn't see his face but watched as he moved to the desk remaining quiet as she listened to the interaction in front of her.
