So no hivemind beasts for now? Just for the record, I had an idea to make a hivemind horde that focuses on scavenging and consuming corpses of other beasts to evolve and take their traits.
Havent seen too many benevolent beasts...might take that niche.

I am assuming the technology level for humans are more or less the same as present day, right? At least in arc 1?

I've allowed only one user here to creative a hivemind beast, and that's simply because one wouldn't be truly bad. Just once there's more it gets all over the place. For now, save for the person I allowed, keep off those. Still I like your idea.

Yeah technology is around present day - with TERRA having access to slightly more advanced forms of technology.

Taniwha

Name:
Hidoikami taniwha | "Taniwha" | "Moho"

Appearance:
Taniwha's skin is a dark, charcoal gray, with a pale underbelly. Armor plates are black, and often described akin to obsidian. When angered, the skin around the plates and fins glow red. Taniwha also lacks teeth; what some would identify as teeth are actually blade-like, self-sharpening parts of the skull.

Size:
Taniwha is on the smaller end of the kaiju spectrum, at an estimated 25 meters at the hip, and 75 meters in length. Despite this, its bones are incredibly dense, and make it heavier than most monsters of a similar size.

First Appearance:
Shortly after the ultrasonic pulse, vessels began disappearing near White Island, New Zealand. The attacks began occurring closer and closer to land until Taniwha made landfall in Auckland.

Abilities:
Powerful jaws— Taniwha possesses jaws powerful enough to crush both stone and metal.
Heat tolerance— Shows enough resistance to magma and lava to burrow through it and store small amounts in its body.
Burrowing— Though by no means amazing, Taniwha can burrow through earth, magma, and lava; this is partly accomplished by chewing the material.
Magma spit— Taniwha has a special organ in its body (theorized to be in the chest, near the base of the neck) to store molten magma or lava, and maintain its temperature. In dire situations, it spits magma as a last resort.
Amphibious biology— Possesses gills and lungs.
Durability— Its skeletal structure makes Taniwha extremely resistant to ballistic weaponry.

Weaknesses:
Cold temperatures— Taniwha is unable to withstand temperatures below freezing. It's theorized that temperatures below freezing interferes with its ability to maintain magma in a liquid state in its body.
Weak lungs— Taniwha's lungs are quite weak, and the monster must return to the water for a period of time.
Gills— Taniwha's gills are nearly unarmored, and contain a large amount of nerves and blood vessels.
Electricity— Powerful electromagnetic fields may deter, stun, or confuse Taniwha.
Pollution— Taniwha avoids heavily polluted waters.
Display of force— Given its size in comparison to other monsters, a sufficient threat display from an opponent may make Taniwha flee.

Personality:
In the past, Taniwha was regarded as a guardian spirit by the Maori people. However, after it came ashore and rampaged through Auckland, it has maintained a low profile, and has had very few interactions with humans since then.

History:
Tales of giant sharks have been part of Oceania mythology for centuries, as both a benevolent and destructive force. The first modern account of this monster was from a Japanese destroyer in 1942. The officer in charge described it as a "terrible god" in his report, which remained classified until it was sighted again by TERRA in 2016. It wasn't until 2021 that more information was gleaned from its biology, when it made landfall to attack Auckland. Since then, it has maintained a low profile, traveling along the Pacific rim.

Other:
— Taniwha displays physical traits akin to the extinct Dunkleosteus; biologists in TERRA are unable to agree if the resemblance is a case of evolutionary convergence or if Taniwha is descended from these prehistoric fish.

Alien origin monsters are fine, however try not to make them too recent in origin. Mix-and-match seem fine to me - just show me what you got.

UPDATE: Wanted to put the OCC up this weekend, but boi did life crush me hard. Hopefully this week (maybe Friday or Saturday) I should be situated and ready to go with this RP. In the mean time, Ill post more monsters and characters to stall you off in the week.

Name:

Appearance:
Sentinel appears to be a large humanoid figure, akin to an ancient suit of armor. Its skin is an especially dark shade of gray, and is mostly made out of rock and bits of metal. Sentinel's head is also quite small in comparison to the rest of its body. Strange symbols and hieroglyphics are scattered around Sentinel's entire body, most of which bear no resemblance to any known language. The small amount that does is incredibly difficult to decipher and has not been done so yet. Various cracks can also be seen in some areas of its massive frame. These cracks, along with the two slits on its head that function as its "eyes", constantly emit a dim yellowish light of unknown origin. A large scar can be found across its chest, with a metal band running diagonally across said scar. The origin of the scar is unknown, but there are theories that speculate that it was obtained in a battle with another monster.

Size:
82 meters (269 feet) tall

First Appearance:
A "moving island" was reported moving towards Taiwan at an unprecedented rate. TERRA has detected energy readings from the moving island that match those of Sentinel's, and are now sending operatives to investigate and observe its arrival.

Abilities:

• Colossal Strength: Sentinel's physical attacks possess tremendous power, even when compared to other kaiju. Its attacks are powerful enough to pulverize buildings with ease and punch large craters into mountains.
• Impregnable Defense: Sentinel's body, despite being seemingly made mostly out of rock is actually quite durable. It has been shown to be greatly resistant to elemental attacks such as fire, water, ice and electric-based attacks as well. Some parts of its body are actually more durable than the others, such as its legs, parts of its torso, and its forearms, which it commonly uses to block attacks.
• Energy Blasts: Sentinel has the capability to fire blasts or beams of energy from his hands and his eyes. They are capable of eliminating military vehicles such as tanks in a single burst, but are less effective against larger, more powerful targets, such as other monsters. Although the exact nature of these attacks are unknown, they are theorized to be plasma-based.
• Construct Creation: One of Sentinel's unique abilities is the creation of automated constructs that can be remotely controlled. These constructs resemble the prehistoric dragonfly Meganeura, except these constructs are much larger, being as long as the average human and having the wingspan of a car. These constructs are able to fly around and attack with energy blasts similar to the Sentinel's own. However, these constructs take a relatively long time to create, and Sentinel can currently control about 20 constructs at any given moment.
• Material Siphoning: Sentinel can absorb specific inorganic materials such as rock and metal, and assimilate it into its own being in order to repair or modify itself. This ability however, is not suited for use in combat, as the process takes a relatively long time, and thus, is more suited for out-of-battle repairs and upgrades.

Weaknesses:

• Sub-optimal Capacity: Sentinel's core is currently damaged and is not operating at its full capacity. As a result, it is generally slower in terms of both movement and attack speed, and some of its attacks, such as its energy-based projectiles, are weaker as well. Fortunately, Sentinel has the capability to fully repair its core, the process will take an extremely long time however.
• Vulnerable Areas: Although Sentinel has great defensive strength, it does have several "weak points" around its body, such as its armpit area and the back of its knee. These areas, when attacked, can cause substantial damage to Sentinel, perhaps even crippling it if the attack is strong enough.
• Gentle Giant: Due to Sentinel's nature, it will sometimes put itself in harm's way to protect innocent humans. This may leave it vulnerable to enemy attacks and may interfere with its own capability to fight as well. However, this is not entirely consistent, and there will be times when Sentinel will choose to deal with its opponent rather than save humans.

Personality:
In every recorded incident, there has been no signs of aggression or violence from Sentinel. Its behavior towards humans is either neutral or protective depending on the situation. Most cases report it simply standing in place, silently observing humanity from afar. There are however, a small number of cases wherein it has actively moved to protect humans in danger, such as the 1954 encounter near the coast of Florida, when it saved a fishing boat from being submerged by a typhoon. It is unknown however, what would happen if it were to be attacked by humans, as there has been no recorded case of humans doing so.

History:
The earliest recording of Sentinel's existence was a primitive cave painting found somewhere along the African coast around 38,000 - 40,000 years ago, which depicted numerous human figures gathering around a large humanoid figure rising out of the water. Throughout history, more sightings continued to appear, with most describing it as a "moving island" as usually only its head and shoulders were above the water. Other interpretations continued to appear, a sea monster, a giant, a divine entity, one source even theorized that Sentinel was the Golem of Prague, that had grown massive and started wandering the ocean. A few reports have even claimed to have been saved from storms and typhoons by the entity, who would carry them back to shallow waters with its gargantuan size, hence the name given to it.

TERRA had known of its existence after its encounter with one of their research vessels in the East China Sea. The report of the encounter details Sentinel appearing near the vessel and staring at it with its "eyes". The acting captain of the vessel opted to stop all movement and to observe and gather data on Sentinel as well. After about an hour, the giant would slowly submerge back into the water and move further east towards the Pacific Ocean. Rather than trying to contain Sentinel, TERRA opted to monitor it instead, tracking its movements around the globe.

Other:

• There have also been reports of large, shadowy, insect-like creatures flying around near various large cities at night, details of its appearance from its reports also show similar physical characteristics to Sentinel. However, there is no concrete evidence of their relation to one another.
• Energy readings indicate that large amounts of unstable, volatile energy are focused in Sentinel's chest, where its scar is located. The metal patching up the scar seems to be a mixture of several different elements, and is incredibly durable. It is theorized that should the patch be removed or destroyed, large amounts of energy would be unleashed in a potentially destructive form, along with unknown side effects.

Can I create a scientist character who wants to build giant robots? Should I expect another character to eclipse my character who's already had a giant robot for like months already but for some reason hasn't revealed it despite giant monsters attacking his/her country? Sorry if this sounds confrontational; I've had bad experiences in the past.

Definitely the humans will have something to do in the first arc. Granted it could be slightly limited compared to the titans, however they will have their little thing none the less.

More info regarding Arc 1 will be revealed later this week - hopefully tomorrow at the latest.

No worries man, I understand. As far as I know, other then the alien "mech" that had plopped down, no humans seem to wield a mech atm. I did say I didn't mind maybe one or two for the humans, but I prefer it was to be built for an alternate purpose (secret weapon) only to be thrown in as an anti-monster weapon as soon as all things went loose. Only after Arc 1 can the whole mech thing be more wide-spread.
