Everyone's character is a bad ass...but isn't because as equal tiers it comes down to your writing not your powers to give you the edge. powers are just nifty things to create a more vivid picture.

This makes no sense. That's like saying if Talon spent motes to dodge a big attack that would cut him in half... despite being cornered... when the ability expressly says he can dodge in that situation if it is used... that I still get cut in half.

If you spend motes against a base level attack that's your problem, if you use it against a powered and deadly attack great if not you suffer the consequences of lack of foresight.
