I will at some point, but it's proving difficult to find somewhere that looks promising. Beta was kind enough to refer me to another site, but it's going to take me a while before I can fully ease myself into it. For a comparison, it took me around 3 or so years before I found enough reason to let go of my old site and make a full transition to OldGuild.

Well, that and there's no way I'm going to have an Arena character of mine perish without a decent fight occurring beforehand.

You don't have to get along with the 'translation package' if you wish, But I think the methods for these are either you have 'magical' translator device or just assume that Skall's Dreamer cast a Multiversal Translator spell that is applied to those passing the Nexus.

I have no issue with the translation spell.

The way I figured it, if your character is human-like and has never been on Earth, they just happened to develop the English language by default. All the Earth-goers are immune to the handwavium unless they decide not to be.

Okay, would people be upset if I resubmitted my god character Samuel, but this time as a background character, so that way he doesn't actually fight or anything?

As a background character he's totally acceptable, but two things:

Background characters are just for spicing up the plot, they can't help in combat.
They do not affect the area around them. Example: A god of fire would not make the battleground hot wherever they are.

I wouldnt dream of having Sam interfere in combat. That's just unfair.

And I've gone ahead and resubmitted him as a background character. I took out ALL the power listings, cause he won't be fighting, so I don't see the need for them there.

On the language thing, I figured it was a bit along the lines of;

Universal common tongue = English.

I mean, the Nexus gates have obviously been around for a while, and everyone knows about them and uses them regularly, so there´s no reason people haven´t traveled through them all and inadvertadly created a common tongue.

If we use that as a default, then it becomes much easier to create characters who don´t know the universal common tongue. Just because it exists, doesn´t mean everyone bothered to learn it ;)

My suspension of disbelief works for a translation spell upon entering the nexus but not for everyone happening to develop English. I can see a language used across multiple planets, but highly doubtful all of the characters here happen to be from those places where English is taught. I don't believe everyone knows about them and uses them regularly unless I'm mistaken.

BTW, the diffrent locations are whole dimensions, not just single planets, right? If so, why restrict oneself to just one planet as a battlefield per gate?
