Personality:
Raki's defining characteristics are his arrogance and pride. He appears tactless, loud, and overconfident, and in instances that are unfamiliar to him, he often turns to irrational rationalizations. In the rare occasions where he shows humility, he sometimes manages to twist it into a situation that allows him to stroke his own ego. Instead of following that of society, he chooses to listen to his own morals, which may be considered questionable by some since his values are usually fueled by his hubris and self-importance.
Short Background:
Raki was born on a small fishing isle south of mainland New Zealand; he was the last and seventh son of the Maori tribal chief, Ihāia Te Kirikūmara. Although being the youngest in his family and last in line for the title of chief, upon his birth, their tribe's tohunga and matakite (seer) foresaw a prophecy where the image of Raki was revered and praised as some sort of heavenly hero. Learning this, proud and overjoyed, his father bestowed to him a name befitting of the future he was destined for; Rangipotiki. This stemmed from the name Ranginiu, the god of the sky, and husband to Papa, the goddess of the earth.
As time passed, Raki effortlessly surpassed the expectations set for him on numerous occasions. Aside from being taller and larger than the rest of the men in his tribe, Raki was blessed with physical capabilities that were second to none. After besting the most prominent hunters and warriors in both duels and challenges, from their own and nearby tribes, Raki eventually turned to wild beasts to quench his thirst of a rightful challenge.
Unfortunately, with his overwhelming superiority came disgusting overconfidence and arrogance; the endless praise he received from those around him simply enabled such characteristics to flourish. Raki believed that he had gained the favor of the gods and was meant to achieve amazing things, but when these so-called situations never took place, Raki grew uneasy. He feared that he might live his life without fully accomplishing what was expected from him. Longing for a true trial that would test his capabilities, Raki set sail and traveled the seas in search for the heroic journey he longed for.
However, only a few weeks had passed before his journey was brought to a screeching halt. It was not the calamity-like storms, massive and violent waves, monstrous sea life, or some sort of bandit or pirate that ended Raki's life, but sickness.
