Henri opened his eyes and listened to the sounds of the wild. Sighing and grunting as he got up he looked around . He walks using his knuckles for help to the plant he had been using as food. Eating the berries until he was filled he let the sun wash over him as a new day began.

Agy

The thunder of the waterfall was a welcome sound to Agy. Not only did it cover the sound of his movements but the turbulent surface of the water hid his silhouette from the fish in the water below. He clutched a two pronged branch, sharpened against a rock, in one hand while the other was wrapped around the trunk of a tree, thus allowing him to hang out over the water.

His eyes followed the silver forms of fish that darted in the river. They were small and he ignored them. What he wanted lurked under a large rock in the deep dark space that allowed the biggest fish to survive. He waited, ever patient, until the barbed nose of the fish slowly stirred and the long sleek body shifted, almost like it was uncoiling from the depths.

Agy plunged the stick downward and felt the prongs stab through the flesh and deep into the fish even as it trashed against him. He chuckled out loud and pulled himself back toward the bank, the fish dragging in the water behind him. Once he had made it back to the beach he drew the stick fully out of the water, admiring the silver and black scales as they twisted and struggled on the end of the stick. It would be delicious.

A heavy "huff" made him turn and he stepped back in fright. A large fur covered creature was watching him, it's big head held high in the end as a cinnamon furred snout sniffed in his direction. He had no word for the creature, they were rare enough that the tribe simply called them "The Ones with Fur". Agy did know that they made excellent blankets against the cold, but you had to kill them first and they took a great deal of killing.

As if reading his mind, the creature gave a guttural roar and charged. Agy tried to throw himself to one side but the creature was to fast; lashing out with one huge paw that sent him crashing into the river bank. He heard something within his body give way with a crack and agony shot through him. The one with fur paid him no more attention as it took his fish and ambled away up the riverbank and into the trees.
